September 14, 2009

Jenna Dewan American Virgin DVD and Blu-ray

Channing Tatum’s wife Jenna Dewan is currently busy studying her scripts and filming the nighttime drama “Melrose Place“. US fans have to wait until episodes 7 and 8 later this season to check out Jenna in her new role, but UK fans get to see Jenna in one of her latest movies even sooner.

Jenna Dewan stars in the teen comedy ‘American Virgin‘ with veteran comedian Rob Schneider and fans in the UK will be able to get the film on DVD and Blu-ray next month.

American Virgin‘ is about a freshman college girl named Priscilla White (played by Jenna). After involuntarily over indulging and becoming drunk for the first time in her life, she discovers her sinful shenanigans have been caught on camera by a shoddy video producer (played by Rob Schneider). With her scholarship for college coming from an abstinence group who believe in no sex before marriage, it’s a race against time and across country as she and her friends attempt to retrieve the potentially damaging footage before it’s exposed.

You can watch the new trailer below…

Fans in the UK can buy/rent the movie on DVD and Blu-ray from the UK’s Amazon.com and LoveFilm.com on October 5th.

Hollywood Spy also recently posted an article about one of Jenna’s upcoming projects. Her 2010 live action film ‘Magdalena‘ is based on a popular Top Cow comic book. In the film, Patience (Jenna) discovers that she’s a part of the lineage of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene who fight supernatural evil. The film also stars Luke Goss who plays Kristof, an agent sent by the secret organization that has been the guardian of the Magdalena lineage.

New Photos of Jenna Dewan at Vau de Vire Society’s Performance of The Moskova Affair

August 29, 2009

While husband Channing Tatum films his Roman drama ‘The Eagle of the Ninth‘ half way around the world in Budapest, Hungary, Jenna Dewan has been working hard and attending numerous events much closer to home.

On Thursday, August 27th Jenna tweeted about loving the new clothes (sexy power suits) at a fitting she had that day for her upcoming role on “Melrose Place,” and that night, she attended the Vau de Vire Society’s performance of “The Moskova Affair” in Los Angeles, California.

After which, she tweeted

“Just went to a private party that had circus performers, contortionists, aerialists and dancers..very entertaining!”

Jen also did an interview with People Magazine at the event. You can read People’s article below to learn about Jen’s new passion and where she and Chan may live one day. You can also check out a few more photos of Jenna at the performance. Enjoy!

Newlywed Jenna Dewan Reveals Latest Passion – Cooking

By Eunice Oh
She’s getting ready for an upcoming film and a stint on Melrose Place, but Jenna Dewan is also keeping active off the set – in the kitchen.
“I’m really into cooking lately,” the actress, 28, who tied the knot with Channing Tatum in July, tells PEOPLE. “I’ve been really passionate about it, so I’ve been learning some new dishes and getting into it.”
What inspired the newlywed to learn how to whip up a few dishes? “We got a whole bunch of cooking accessories from the wedding,” Dewan said Thursday at a performance in Los Angeles of The Moskova Affair by the Vau de Vire Society dance troupe.
Though it’s only been a month since the two got married, Dewan – who marked the special day with Tatum, 29, by getting matching tattoos during their honeymoon – says she’s been enjoying every minute of her new life.
“It’s great. It’s amazing,” she says. “I’m so unbelievably happy. I get happier every day, if that’s possible.”
Up next for the couple may be a move away from Hollywood and into a more simple lifestyle in Tatum’s hometown of Wetumpka, Ala., where he has said he’d like to build a home.
“Not yet,” says Dewan, “but it’s definitely in the future. We love it there.”

Here’s some more new photos of Jen at the event with actresses Lindsay Price and Molly Simms…

E!’s Marc Malkin also interviewed Jen at the event and she talks about a musical that she and Chan are working on together and about her impending name change…

“We’re sort of writing a screenplay right now for a musical… There’s not a whole lot I can tell you yet, but it’s a very fantasy-based musical…It would be very very different form Step Up, but it would definitely involve dancing and romance…At the moment, I’m hyphening it [her name]. For the next film that I do, it will probably be Jenna Dewan-Tatum.”

And in case you missed it, MTV’s Splashpage recently interviewed Holly Brix, the screenwriter for Jenna’s upcoming action film ‘Magdalena‘. You can CLICK HERE to get an update on the project.

On a side note, I’m currently changing the photo gallery, so you may see photos missing on some articles on the sites until I get everything switched over over the next few days/weeks.

CASTING NEWS: Channing Tatum to Star in ‘The Darkness’

August 12, 2009

Channing Tatum has a ton of potential projects in the works, and the horror film site Bloody Disgusting just reported some casting news on a new one. I read this particular news item when they first posted it on July 28th, but wanted to confirm it before I reported it to you all.

I have now confirmed that Chan has indeed signed on to star in ‘The Darkness’, the latest film from The Pang Brothers Danny Pang Fat and Oxide Pang Chun who directed the Asian and English remakes of ‘The Eye’ and ‘Bangkok Dangerous’. Like Chan’s current movie, ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘, the film will also be based on a comic book adaption.

The Darkness” comic series was created by Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis and David Wohl, under the Top Cow Productions banner. Ironically, Top Cow is the same comic book company that’s associated with Jenna Dewan’s 2010 action film ‘Magdelena‘.

Bloody Disgusting says that Chan will play Jackie Estacado, a hitman who “was targeted for assassination by the don of the New York mafia, ‘Uncle’ Paulie. He finds his body possessed by ‘the Darkness,’ a malevolent spirit that has inhabited his family for several generations, with the benefit of giving Jackie supernatural powers that feed off the dark.”

Although the film is currently in the very early stages of development and does not have a release date yet, I still want to say congrats to Chan on landing yet another role!

NEWS FLASH: Director and Writer Chosen for Jenna Dewan’s ‘Magdalena’

July 22, 2009

Jenna Dewan is preparing to star as heroine Patience in the 2010 live action film ‘Magdalena‘, which is based on a popular Top Cow comic book.

In the film, Patience discovers that she’s a part of the lineage of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene who fight supernatural evil. The film also stars Luke Goss who plays Kristof, an agent sent by the secret organization that has been the guardian of the Magdalena lineage.

Before Jen begins the rigorous training she will have to go through for the film, she is accompanying Chan on his current ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobraaround-the-world press tour.

Via her new official Twitter Jenna let us know from London this morning that Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura (’Midnight Meat Train‘) has now been chosen to helm ‘Magdalena‘, and feels that “he is such a unique visionary”.

In Variety we get a few more details… In addition to Ryuhei Kitamura, producer Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Motion Pictures and Platinum Studios have also signed Holly Brix to write the screenplay for ‘Magdalena‘.

Kitamura has directed numerous Japanese films including “Godzilla: Final Wars,” “Love Death,” “Sky High” and “Azumi.” Brix penned “The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations,” “The Lost Girls” and “Mile Zero.”

Magdalena‘ is set to be released in theaters some time in 2010.

MAGDALENA

Teaser Poster for Jenna Dewan's Jenna Dewan is preparing to star as heroine Patience in the 2010 live action film ‘Magdalena‘, which is based on a popular Top Cow comic book.

In the film, Patience discovers that she’s a part of the lineage of female warriors descended from Mary Magdalene who fight supernatural evil. The film also stars Luke Goss who plays Kristof, an agent sent by the secret organization that has been the guardian of the Magdalena lineage.

The entertainment news site Shock Till You Drop recently interviewed ‘Magdalena‘ producer Gale Anne Hurd and here’s what she had to say about Jenna, Luke, and the film that is currently on the hunt for a director…

“She’s terrific. It’s kind of like The DaVinci Code meets Wanted…You’ve got the mythology and a character who isn’t initially aware of her legacy which something I love. Many of my films deal with that. And it’s still has supernatural elements…Luke is going to be great for the role and Jenna has steeped herself in this the same way that Ray [Stevenson] has with Frank Castle…”

Above, fans can also check out the new teaser poster that Top Cow just released for the film. Jenna is really excited about this movie, and even though it’s not supposed to be released until 2010, the ever-important fan boys are already buzzing about it too.

New MTV Interview from the Producer of Jenna Dewan’s ‘Magdalena’

November 8, 2008

Jenna Dewan and Poster for Comic Book Character "The Magdalena"A few months back it was announced that Jenna Dewan was chosen to play the lead character of Patience in the 2010 comic book adaptation ‘Magdalena‘.

A couple of months ago, MTV’s Spash Page released
4 new interviews with Jenna
where we learned a lot about the super hero character that the starlet will be playing and below fans will find a new MTV interview from the producer of the film.

Check out the interview to see how Jenna Dewan is going to prepare for her challenging new role as a “strong, no-nonsense cinematic heroine”.

Gale Ann Hurd Talks ‘Magdalena,’ Religious Controversies and Possible ‘Witchblade’ Crossover

We here at MTV are always trying to keep our eyes peeled for the next big thing when it comes to movies — even if it’s based on cultish material that much of the world hasn’t been turned onto yet. Most recently, we’ve been all over “Twilight” for this very reason – and looking to the future, we’re keeping a close eye on projects like “Magdalena.”

Over at Splash Page, we ran a whole week of news about the 2010 film. And when I caught up with super-producer Gale Ann Hurd recently, I wanted to make sure we got the latest.

“We’re in the early script phase at the moment,” explained Hurd, mastermind behind the “Terminator” and “Hulk” franchises. “There should be some [casting announcements] within the next month and a half on this.”

So far, the only actors cast in “Magdalena” are Jenna Dewan (“Step Up”) and Luke Goss (“Hellboy II”), with more on the way. Based on the Top Cow comic, the flick will tell the story of Patience (Dewan), a tough warrior who can trace her lineage back to Mary Magdalene. This being a comic, the character’s path has sometimes crossed with “Witchblade,” but the producer could neither confirm nor deny that the movie would have a similar crossover.

“I can’t speak to that,” she insisted. “That would be something for a Top Cow or Platinum Studio person.”

Hurd was eager, however, to address the rampant rumors that her film would be forced to trim back religious aspects of the comic to appease mainstream audiences. “I don’t think you can separate ‘Magdalena’ completely from the legacy of her descent or the fear of destiny or many things that are connected with her as part of the comic book franchise,” she explained. “But at the same time, it’s not a religious movie in that respect. We’re not going to disregard it, but if you’re familiar [with the comic] it is not a movie that examines religion per se, but it’s a character who comes from a religious tradition.”

Taking things a step further, Hurd compared the film to “The Da Vinci Code” franchise in that religion is present, but mainly in the background to set up story. “That’s a perfect analogy,” she said. “Same thing with ‘The Omen,’ or films like that. It’s a jumping off point. It is not untrue to its background, but that’s not what the story is about.”

Finally, Hurd promised us that Dewan is about to undergo some serious training, so she can continue the producer’s impressive history of giving us strong, no-nonsense cinematic heroines. “Being a dancer, she’s in great shape already, and she’s done quite a lot of action training in the past so I think she’ll pick it up very quickly,” the producer explained. “I’ll tell ya, Jenna is all for it. She is ready to get in there and kick some butt.”

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Project Update: ‘Dear John’, ‘Shine On’, ‘Virgin on Bourbon Street’, and More…

September 8, 2008

Channing Tatum and Girlfriend Jenna Dewan at 2008 Teen Choice AwardsThankfully, our newly engaged couple Chenna is getting to spend some quality time together on their very eventful vacation in Hawaii, because both Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan have a very busy schedule coming up this fall and for the foreseeable future.

In the past week or so, we’ve had a lot of news to come out for both of their upcoming films. In this post, we FINALLY get to learn who will play opposite Channing in his highly-anticipated romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ and when and where it will be filmed.

We also get some new details on Jenna’s romantic comedy ‘Virgin on Bourbon Street‘ and a new trailer for her New York-based indie film ‘Shine On‘. Enjoy!!!

Dear John

Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried Play the Leads (John and Savannah) in 'Dear John'

Channing’s upcoming romantic drama ‘Dear John‘, where he plays a soldier who falls in love with a conservative college girl who he plans to marry, is based on a book written by author Nicholas Sparks and will most definitely be a tear-jerker. This we know without a doubt.

We also know that Lasse Hallstrom is directing, Jamie Linden has written the script, Sarah Knowles is heading up the production design and that Ryan Kavanaugh, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will be producing the New Line Studios film. What we have been dying to learn is who is going to play Chan’s love interest, Savannah. Drum roll please…

The rumors I had been hearing were in fact true, because it’s ‘Mamma Mia!’s Amanda Seyfried!!! I have not seen ‘Mamma Mia!‘ yet, but Jenna and many other people I’ve spoken to about it say it’s a must see. I’ll have to check it out this weekend to see Amanda in action.

From the official announcement in today’s Variety and the South Carolina Film Commission website we learn that filming will start October 13th in Charleston, South Carolina and they will most likely be filming through December 2008.

Dear John‘ is set to hit theaters some time in 2009, and as I’ve said time and time again, I honestly can not wait for this one!

Virgin on Bourbon Street

It’s been really hard to find any information on Jenna Dewan’s upcoming movie ‘Virgin on Bourbon Street‘, which is said to be a hilarious, sexy romantic comedy in the vein of ‘40 Year Old Virgin’ meets ‘Superbad’, but I finally found a short synopsis that gives us a little incite on the movie that also stars comedian Rob Schneider.

The movie is about Priscilla White (played by Jenna Dewan) who is a pure and pretty virgin who goes to college on a scholarship from ‘Can’t Hurry Love’, a sexual abstinence before marriage group. Her college roommate Naz is a flashy, filthy, sexually active party girl. Rob Schneider plays Crazy Ed, the sleazy, slimy Chicks Go Crazy producer.

The romantic comedy is set for a 2009 release, and based on what the Michigan Film Office is saying, will be filming in their state this fall.

Shine On

Jenna Dewan’s new indie drama ‘Shine On‘ is the powerful story of Jay (Andrew Cisneros), a young Latino struggling to find his identity in The Bronx in a house crowded with family members and a neighborhood filled with loyal friends and dangerous enemies. A gifted musician, Jay hopes to leave it all and pursue his dream of composing and performing music. Once he meets Alessandra (Jenna Dewan), a beautiful young woman who lives in Manhattan, his determination to defy the expectations of his frustrated, angry father become even stronger.

Yet Jay is tied to his home through loyalty to his friends and to his brother, who has returned unexpectedly from service in the Marines. As he reaches toward a wider world, he is pulled back over and over by the cycles of anger and violence that have defined his life and neighborhood for so long. It takes love, a change of heart and a new understanding of life’s elusive chance at happiness to finally help Jay make the long, uncertain leap to a fresh chance.

Although the production company has not announced an official release date yet, the film just released a trailer for ‘Shine On’ and fans can check it out below:

What’s Next for Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan?

Channing’s film ‘Battle in Seattle‘ will have its theatrical release in various cities in the US starting on September 19, 2008.

If reports are correct, Jenna Dewan will be in Michigan filming her romantic comedy ‘Virgin on Bourbon Street‘ in Michigan while Channing films his romantic drama ‘Dear John in South Carolina this fall.

Chan’s drama ‘Fighting‘ is supposed to be released in January 2009 and his movie ‘Parkour‘ will start filming early next year. Not to be outdone, Jenna’s supernatural, action film ‘Magdalena‘ continues to develop a script so filming can start some time in 2009 too.

Fans can CLICK HERE to get a complete list of Channing’s past, current, and future films and watch their trailers.
