CHANNING TATUM MOVIE BYTES: ‘Fighting’, ‘Dear John’, ‘Step Up 3-D’, ‘Guide’, and ‘G.I. Joe’

November 12, 2008

CHANNING TATUM MOVIE BYTES: 'Fighting', 'Dear John', 'Step Up 3-D', 'A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints', and 'G.I. Joe'

I have found a lot more news all over the internet about Channing Tatum’s films. Check out today’s Channing Tatum Movie Bytes to get the latest scoop. Enjoy!!!

FIGHTING

Channing Tatum in a Scene on the Set of 'Fighting' (High Quality - HQ)In ‘Fighting‘, Channing plays Sean Arthur, a young ticket scalper that is introduced to the world of underground street fighting. Although the date has shifted a few times, we have a new release date for the action drama, and I have a feeling that this one might stick. The film is now scheduled to release on April 24, 2009, which is just a couple of days before Chan’s 29th birthday.

Kevin Misher, Misher Films helmer and one of the movie’s executive producers, has told me that he’s extremely excited about the movie. I’m totally excited too, because both he and the NBC Universal team who is marketing ‘Fighting‘ have confirmed that Channing Tatum Unwrapped will be kept in the loop on any future news about this project, so stay tuned.

DEAR JOHN

Channing Tatum and the Nicholas Sparks Book 'Dear John'The cast continues to grow over on the set of Channing Tatum’s romantic drama ‘Dear John‘, Lasse Hallstrom’s adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling novel.

Last month, CarolinaAutism.org announced that a 6 year old Carolina Autism client has been chosen to star in ‘Dear John‘. They do not give his name, but confirmed that he will be playing the part of Alan. They said that the director chose a child with autism to play the part in a daring statement about authenticity and the ability of people with autism to work and participate in the entertainment industry. A person by the name of Phil Blevins, who works for Carolina Autism, has been retained to consult to the production on matters related to autism spectrum disorders.

A few days ago, we also learned from the Hollywood Reporter that the production has added veteran actor Richard Jenkins (’The Visitor’, ‘Burn After Reading’, “Six Feet Under”) to their cast. Jenkins will play the father of the young soldier John Tyree (Channing Tatum) who meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah Lynn Curtis (Amanda Seyfried), while on military leave.

Finally, Scott Porter (”Friday Night Lights”), who is rumored to be playing the character of Randy, recently mentioned in a TV Guide interview that Chris Cooper (’The Kingdom’, ‘Breach’) has also signed on to the cast, but did not mention what specific role he is playing.

Dear John‘, the epic love story that Chan is filming in South Carolina threw December, will be released in theaters some time around October 2009.

STEP UP 3-D

'Step Up 3-D' PosterAt the 2008 American Film Market (AFM), ComingSoon.net got their hands on some initial poster artwork for the highly anticipated ‘Step Up 3-D‘. AFM is where over 8,000 industry leaders converge in Santa Monica for eight days of deal-making, screenings, seminars, red carpet premieres, networking and parties. Fans can click on the image on the left to view the new poster in the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Photo Gallery.

Although (in my humble opinion) I don’t think that Channing will be making an appearance in the third chapter of the extremely popular ‘Step Up’ franchise, based on an announcement producer Adam Shankman made on the show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, we do know for sure that ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ director Jon M. Chu and break out star Adam Sevani will be returning in ‘Step Up 3-D‘. I can’t wait to see the film that is set to hit theaters some time in 2009 or 2010.

A GUIDE TO RECOGNIZING YOUR SAINTS

'A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints' Steelbook DVD EditionChanning Tatum’s critically-acclaimed and award-winning drama ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints‘ is being re-released on DVD next year in the US and Canada. Fans will be able to purchase the new A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (Steelbook) edition of the film on February 3, 2009, but you can get more details and pre-order on Amazon today.

G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA

Promotional Photo of Channing Tatum as Duke in 'G.I. Joe' (Cropped)I’m not sure if this one’s real or rumor, but I hear that a teaser/trailer will be released for Channing Tatum’s highly-anticipated, live action blockbuster ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra‘ in the next few weeks.

The treaser (not quite a trailer, but longer than a teaser) may have a debut during the previews of Keanu Reeves’ science fiction remake ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still‘ when it opens in US theaters on December 12, 2008, so fans should be on the look out for it. ‘G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra‘ is scheduled to hit US theaters on August 7, 2009.

CHANNING TATUM VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: ACDC’s 2008 Teen Choice Awards Performance & Lost Dance Footage

September 20, 2008

Today’s Videos of the Week are two new videos that ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ and Adam/Chu Dance Crew (aka ACDC) leader Jon M. Chu just uploaded to his extremely popular Youtube video channel.

In the first video we get to see the popular dance crew’s awesome performance at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards which features Chris Brown, Jabbawockeez, The Brobots, and much more. I was lucky enough to see the final battle in person, and honestly, I’m still surprised they did not beat Miley Cyrus’ M&M Cru. You can watch it below to decide for yourself. Enjoy!

In the second video, Jon shows us one of the web commercials he directed a couple of months ago to promote the DVD release of ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘. It’s one of his favorites, because the video features a guest appearance by your ACDC members and cameos by Robert Hoffman and Madd Chadd . Enjoy!

Jon also wants to let fans know you should stay tuned for a big announcement next week. It’s quite possible that he may have an update on ‘Step Up 3-D‘, since he’s directing it and fellow ACDC leader Adam Sevani will be starring. Fans can CLICK HERE to subscribe to his video channel.

If you have a favorite video that you would like me to consider, send a link to the video to votw@channingtatumunwrapped.com and tell me why you like it. I will post it and your explanation on the blog.

ACDC’s Final Challenge to Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan’s M&M Cru

August 17, 2008

Chu Pictures Banner for M&M Cru vs. ACDC Dance Battle

Step Up 2‘ and ‘Step Up 3-D‘ director and ACDC leader Jon M. Chu has one final message for the M&M Cru that he would like to share with world. Although his dance crew may have surprisingly lost the dance battle he started with Adam Sevani last April against Miley Cyrus’ M&M Cru at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, he’s still fighting the war to help children in need around the world.

Watch the video and read his message below to see how you too can help…

Here’s the message that accompanied the video on YouTube:

One last challenge to Miley and Mandy Cru!!! oh and Adam and I are in Norway…come say hello!!ACDC and Invisible Children have been paired up from the beginning to help raise awareness and money for the forgotten kids of Northern Uganda. So far, through the ACDC TShirt sales, we have made over $50,000 dollars for the charity. Now it’s Miley and Mandy’s turn!

We CHALLENGE Miley and Mandy to put their M&M Cru tshirts on sale online and throw 100% of the profits to whatever charity they choose.

We believe dance can change the world. And since this battle has begun, and the tshirts started to sell, we are proving that it is true. More kids are getting educated, more kids have books, dorms, clean water because of YOU guys and girls!! Thank you for all your support.

The battle is over, but the war wages on.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for ACDC updates….

Visit invisiblechildren.com to get tShirts and learn more…

and SUBSCRIBE to CHU PICTURES to stay in touch with the ACDC videos!!

I also found a really great interview that M&M Cru director Cole Walliser did with Wired prior to the final battle at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards a few weeks ago. It explains how Cole (who also happens to be friends with Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum) and the M&M Cru were able to recruit Chenna to their side of the dance battle. Enjoy!!!

M&M Cru, ACDC Take YouTube Dance Battle to Prime Time

By Angela Watercutter August 04, 2008
When the Teen Choice Awards air Monday night, the show will feature the final showdown of the “biggest online dance battle in YouTube history.”

That’s right. The online clash between director Jon Chu and Adam Sevani’s ACDC dance troupe and Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux’s M&M Cru will finally be decided in prime time based on the decibels of ear-bleeding screams at the awards show, which Cyrus is hosting. (The show was taped Sunday and, for those who don’t mind spoilers, MTV.com reported the winner.)

It’s taken a lot of trash-talking, celebrity cameos and ice cream shenanigans to get to this point. But in the last few weeks, both sides have remained fairly quiet as they meticulously prepared for the face-off — except for the video tease (embedded) from the ACDC team showing aspiring member (and premier danseur) Little Demon.

In an attempt to get up to speed — and get a few details about what’s in store for the show — Wired.com asked M&M Cru members Cole Walliser (the director and an M&M dancer) and Teresa Espinosa (the choreographer) for a quick oral history of the throw-down.

“We’re really excited this thing has exploded,” says Walliser. “We obviously knew that people would watch these videos because Miley has a fan base and Jon has a fan base, but this has really helped both groups grow [beyond that]. Now people see these videos and say, ‘Miley’s kind of cool, look at this stuff that she’s a part of.’”

After the jump get the skinny on being friends with the competition, making dance videos on a shoestring and what surprises are in store for the final battle. (Hint: There is more than just fancy footwork involved.)

Wired.com: So how did it all get started?

Cole Walliser: Teresa has been Miley’s choreographer since Day One. Her and Alison Faulk [the producer and also one of the dancers] are good friends, so for bigger projects Alison was brought on as assistant choreographer. I’ve known Teresa for a number of years and Alison is actually my roommate. We’re all good friends in that circle. Then how the whole battle came about was Alison actually worked on Step Up 2 — she was in the 410 crew — so she got to know Jon and Adam last summer. It got to the point, I think, where Miley saw Step Up 2 and was like, “Oh Adam’s cool, Adam’s cute” or whatever. Alison said that she knew them and then word got back to Jon and Adam. So Adam obviously thought that Miley was cute and Jon started thinking, “Oh I’ve got to start getting some action going between these guys.” Just lighthearted stuff.

So Jon had the idea to use his YouTube blog to be like, “Hey, I’m going to call you guys out to an online dance battle.” He was talking to Alison at the Idol Gives Back thing that Miley performed at. And Alison was like, “This doesn’t exist, what are you talking about?” Then Miley grabbed the phone or maybe they were texting or whatever then they just started trash-talking just for fun like, “We’re going to smoke you” and “We’re going to get these dancers from this crew” and stuff. Basically, at first, we didn’t know what they were doing, we just knew they were going to call us out (video embedded). Then when Alison and Teresa knew they had to make a video, they called me. To be honest, I think we kind of impressed them with our production value and finesse on our first video (embedded below). It sort of jumped up from video to video from there.

Teresa Espinosa: I’ve been Miley’s choreographer since 2006. We did her concert choreography for the first Hannah Montana season. It’s a totally different ballgame working with her for this kind of thing. When I work with her, she’s the artist, so she can never do wrong. She can do the routine or she can go off and ad lib. But this is a dance-off — if she’s not involved in it she’s not really part of the crew. She’s never done a two-and-a-half-minute dance number [like the one for the Teen Choice Awards]. She’s had dance sections in her songs, but not a number where she has to do all the choreography.

Wired.com: How did both sides assemble their crews?

Walliser: The professional dance community is pretty small — especially street dancers. It’s kind of funny because half of our close friends are in ACDC. It was really a matter of who called who first. There were a couple of people that we called first and ACDC called them after and they were like, “Sorry guys, we’re already signed up for this Miley Cyrus thing.” For the other side, we called some of our close friends, who we thought were totally going to be down, and their response was, “Oh, Jon and Adam called me already.” It’s a favor, but this also what we love to do.

That was one of the reasons we put names on the videos, just to give everyone a shout-out. Because normally, as a dancer, you’re just dancing behind an artist. You’re behind Mariah Carey. You’re behind Janet Jackson. That’s why everyone jumped on board without asking for any money. It’s exciting that now that all these dancers have donated their time and energy to make these videos we can actually give a job back to them and it’s cool for us, because everyone’s getting paid [for doing the awards show].

Wired.com: What’s with all the one-upping each other?

Walliser: I think it’s always in the mix with dancers. It’s a part of the culture. So if some dancer has a move, you’re going to want to do it cooler. You always have to be like, “I’m going to top you.” So, we brought in a celebrity, we brought in Channing Tatum. Alison is good friends with him and Jenna Dewan because they were on a Janet Jackson tour together back in the day. So we called them because we thought it would be fun opportunity because they were the stars of the first Step Up. Jon thought it was pretty funny. Then, of course, he’s thinking, “If you’re bringing people in, I’m bringing people in hard-core.” So they had tons of [famous] people in their second video (embedded below). No matter what the other person does, be it cameos or production or music or anything, as dancers you try to one-up them on every single level you can.

Wired.com: Yeah, like helicopters.

Walliser: You know, a lot of the things that we did just came about from us sitting around saying, “What do we have access to?” People talk online saying, “Oh, well, Miley can just buy this or buy that,” but in terms of production funding we had zero dollars. We had money to cover insurance and we gave the location crews a little money so they could be there and pay for some lights. But other than that we had no money and were basically just pulling in favors from everywhere.

What happened with the helicopter was that Mandy’s dad owns a helicopter school. So when we were talking about what we could do for that next video, Mandy said, “Well my dad owns helicopters.” We were like, “Are you serious?!” But that was also a huge logistical problem, too. It was a pretty big thing to work around. We were just a bunch of friends with a camera trying to make a video destined for YouTube. So we just took all precautions necessary. We basically shot it in a way that they were actually 30 feet away. It wasn’t running when they were near it.

Wired.com: How did you pick your locations?

Espinosa: Actually, some of our rehearsals right now are at a studio in Silver Lake [in Los Angeles], which is the same location we used for our first video, the place that has the giant radio as the backdrop that says “Respect” on it.

Walliser: Actually, that club in the last video (embedded right), Boulevard3, actually hires a bunch of dancers every weekend. I’ve performed there a couple of times and so have some of our other dancers. We just called them and said, “Hey, we’re doing this thing, it’s guaranteed millions of views on YouTube.” They were supercool about it; eventually they started kicking us ideas and saying, “We could do this or we could do that.” They didn’t charge us for the venue at all. We basically just had to pay someone to run their lighting system for the day.

Wired.com: How do you go from YouTube to live?

Walliser: It’s definitely tricky, because we still want to have interesting components. It’s way more complicated and there are way more logistics to get it all to happen in the time allotted. Basically, each crew is getting two minutes and 30 seconds. But we had free reign. We just had to come up with a concept that would allow us to do interesting gags and tricks, back to back to back. With the videos, there was some stuff we shot in New York, there was some stuff we shot in L.A., but we shot it over a couple weeks and were able to edit together. This all has to be organized and choreographed in time to happen right after each other. Teresa has a lot of experience choreographing for stage so she’s planned this really well, Alison too. So, we have an edge. We’re really excited about this, but it is a little different. It’s all new choreography, all new music, so we’re also not interpreting something that’s been performed before.

Espinosa: We have to create transitions. It has to flow together, whereas with a video you can cut and paste. You have to make things stand out. With a video, the camera creates the focus for you, but on a stage you don’t have that. We’re going to have to be really organized and focused.

Wired.com: What are the surprises going to be?

Walliser: So our opening song is Chromeo’s “Fancy Footwork.” All I can say about the performance is that there are going to be some celebrity guests involved in the musical aspects of our performance. The whole thing about it is that, even though we hear things through the grapevine from the other dancers, we have no idea what ACDC is doing and they have no idea what we’re doing. We’re going to see it live for the first time. So it’s important to keep things under wraps.

Wired.com: Will this really be the end?

Walliser: Jon’s in preproduction for Step Up 3, and I have other projects to work on too. I don’t feel like it can get any bigger either. We already had a helicopter, what are we going to have a spaceship next time? [Laughs] I think it’s sort of capped itself. I don’t think that’s the end of what you’ll see of us, but the big production dance videos will probably come to an end.

Wired.com: Any final words?

Walliser: People are under the impression that these crews already existed and that we hate each other, and that’s totally not true. It’s a battle, we are out for blood. But it’s all for fun.

Espinosa: We have the solid core group from the first core group from the first couple videos will be there at the battle. We have the best people so it’s not hard to pick. We have amazing dancers — I’m not even worried about the competition.

Channing Tatum Videos of the Week: What the Buck Wages Dance War Against Channing Tatum’s M&M Cru

July 7, 2008

I owe everyone a big apology for not finding today’s Videos of the Week sooner, because they are truly hilarious.

The two videos are a part of the ongoing dance battle between Jon M. Chu and Adam Sevani’s ACDC and Miley and Mandy’s M&M Cru (which includes Channing Tatum and his girlfriend Jenna Dewan).

From what I can tell, the popular YouTube comedian and entertainment “reporter” from What the Buck (who, bless his heart, somehow keeps confusing Channing Tatum with Tatum O’Neal) throws his hat into the proverbial dance ring after the M&M Cru released their teaser video in round 2 of the dance battle.

You can CLICK HERE to watch What the Buck challenge the M&M Cru in a teaser video that also features the afore-mentioned Jon M. Chu and Harry Shum from ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘, or you can check it out below:

Next, you can also check out the battle video released by the What the Buck crew the same day the M&M Cru released their round 2 video:

After you stop laughing profusely or “pulling shapes” like the crew in the video (whatever suits your fancy…I don’t judge), fans can CLICK HERE to read all of the previous CTU articles on the dance battle, and you can also CLICK HERE to watch all of the videos from the extremely popular battle that has now been covered by every major entertainment media outlet known to mankind.

If you have a favorite video that you would like me to consider, send a link to the video to votw@channingtatumunwrapped.com and tell me why you like it. I will post it and your explanation on the blog.

The Final Dance Battle Is Here!!! (Kinda Sorta) ;-)

June 10, 2008

It’s dance battle time again people!!! Miley Cyrus (aka Milez with a Z) and her partner in crime Mandy Jiroux (aka Manderz with a Z) have finally released their highly-anticipated round 2 dance battle video on their YouTube-based Miley and Mandy show in hopes of defeating Jon M. Chu and Adam Sevani’s ACDC Crew once and for all.

From being spoofed in the opening act of the 2008 MTV Movie Awards to today’s Carson Daly Show and E! News where you were able to see a sneak peek of the newest video, this little dance battle has lived up to its big name (Biggest Online Dance Battle in YouTube History) and has truly taken pop culture by storm. Jon Chu has told me that he can’t even believe how popular this whole thing has gotten.

Without further ado, you can CLICK HERE to check out the M&M Cru’s newest video or you can watch it below:

Can’t get enough? Fans can listen to the live LA-based KISS FM radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest tomorrow, because Mandy will be chatting with Ryan about the release of their video.

With special guests like illusionist David Blaine, Joey Fatone from NSYNC, hosts Carson Daly and Ryan Seacrest, Jenna’s friend Emmanuelle Chriqui, and of course our dynamic duo Chenna (aka Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum), the M&M Cru really stepped up their game for this video. I loved Jenna’s routine with Miley and Mandy, but my fav is her dancing with Chan as he shows us some crazy stunts on the streets of Prague.

Also, it looks like I was right about the video I posted recently showing Chan and Jenna dancing with fans in Old Square in the center of Prague. Although that footage did not make it into this video, it was clearly filmed at the same time.

The biggest surprise is the appearance of Jon Chu and Adam Sevani at the end of the video, but I was extremely happy and not surprised to see that this really isn’t the “final dance battle” as the M&M Cru would lead us to believe. From what Jon and Adam are saying it looks like fans may have one more video to look forward to where both crews are going to battle IN PERSON. I so can’t wait. We’ll all have to stay tuned.

You can CLICK HERE to watch all of the dance videos that have been created by the M&M Cru and ACDC since the worldwide battle was started a few weeks ago by Jon Chu and Adam Sevani. You can also stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped for all of the latest dance battle news and videos.

CHANNING TATUM FOR DUMMIES… Everything You Ever Wanted to Know

June 9, 2008

Channing Tatum for DummiesChanning Tatum for Dummies is a series of articles where I try to answer the most frequently asked questions about Channing Tatum that I receive from readers or find on message boards all over the internet.

Here are today’s most frequently asked Channing Tatum Fan questions and answers:

Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Question #1

In Channing’s movie ‘Stop-Loss‘, why are the patches on the uniforms and tattoos of the flag backwards?

CTU Answer

To wear our country’s flag properly, the field of stars is supposed to be worn closest to your heart. When worn on the sleeve of a military uniform, the flag should appear to be advancing and not retreating.

If your patch or tattoo is to be worn on your LEFT sleeve, you should use a left flag (which is what most of us are used to seeing). For patches or tattoos worn on your RIGHT sleeve, you should use a “right” or “reversed field” flag. Channing’s tattoo is on his right arm in ‘Stop-Loss‘, so he was given a right flag.

Source: USHistory.org

Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Question #2

I just wondered if you could please tell me what jacket this is. It’s worn by Channing Tatum while playing Tyler Gage in ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘. Please could you try and find out the make and name of this jacket please?

CTU Answer

I could not get all of the details on this one, but thanks to the film’s director and his costume designer we at least now know a little more about the sweatshirt Channing is wearing in the club scene in ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘.

Director Jon M. Chu was nice enough to forward the question to the film’s costumer designer, and they said that Chan’s sweatshirt is made by Nike. So hopefully that info can at least give fans a starting point to track down the popular clothing item.

Thanks to Jon and his costumer designer for taking the time to answer my question and thanks to Channing’s Fans for submitting your questions! If you want to submit a question about Channing Tatum, email it questions@channingtatumunwrapped.com and I will try to get it answered for you in the following Channing Tatum for Dummies article. I cannot guarantee that I will have an answer for every question, but I will tell you what I know (or at the very least give you an opinion on the subject).

On June 10th the M&M Cru is Ending This Battle…

May 23, 2008

In true dance battle style, Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux of the M&M Cru have posted a teaser video letting everyone know they will release their round two reply to ACDC’s last online dance battle challenge on June 10, 2008 at 7PM Pacific Time.

Parts of the video below were made at the Wango Tango music festival I mentioned recently, and they also show footage from the video shoot where I posted behind the scenes photos on Monday. The girls have taken it up a notch, because they are saying that this next video is going to be the one that will bring an end to the ENTIRE battle. I’m sure ACDC might have a little to say about that, but in the mean time, you can check out M&M’s teaser below…

I’m hoping that the video I posted with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan donning their M&M Cru caps and dancing with fans on the streets of Prague makes it into the next installment, but I guess we’ll all have to tune in on June 10th to see for ourselves.

Haven’t seen all of the videos in the BIGGEST ONLINE DANCE BATTLE EVER? You can CLICK HERE to check them all out in a playlist I created on YouTube.

New Video of Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, and the M&M Cru on the Streets of Prague

May 20, 2008

This past Sunday, the M&M Cru continued to film their next video for round two of the ongoing online dance battle with Jon M. Chu and Adam Sevani’s ACDC.

It’s amazing how the popularity of the dance battle continues to grow. ACDC was asked by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to perform at her star-studded 50th birthday party last week, and she even showed clips of their performance on her show last Friday.

DeGeneres’ party, held on the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank where she currently tapes her show, was set up like a carnival – complete with 10-ft. elephant topiaries, a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, carousel, dunk tank and stilt-walkers. Party-goers included celebrities like Mariah Carey and new husband Nick Cannon, Paris Hilton and boyfriend Benji Madden, David and Courtney Cox Arquette, T.R. Knight, Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson, and Gwen Stephani and Jon Chu said they had a ton of fun!

You can see the crew before the show in the photo on the right. You can also watch some of the video footage from the party below. ACDC shows up at about 1:28 in the video…

On the M&M front…From the photos that were posted on the blog of one of Miley Cyrus’ dancers, it looks like the M&M Cru has definitely turned it up a notch for the newest installment. You can check out a couple of more pics from the highly-choreographed video shoot below:

Finally, Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Naz from London found this awesome video of Channing Tatum and girlfriend Jenna Dewan sporting their M&M Cru hats and dancing with some extremely lucky fans on the streets of Old Square in the center of Prague area where Chan’s currently filming ‘G.I. Joe‘.

It remains to be seen if this video is actually for the battle or not, but it’s cool to get a sneak peek. And it’s even cooler to see Chan and Jenna dancing together once again. Enjoy!!!

You can CLICK HERE to watch all of the dance videos that have been created by the M&M Cru and ACDC since the worldwide battle was started a few weeks ago by Jon Chu and Adam Sevani.

Are You Down With ACDC? Check Out Dance Battle Outtakes and Join Their Crew!!!

May 15, 2008

Miley and Mandy (purple shirts and all) are busy working on the M&M Cru’s lastest dance battle video against Jon M. Chu and Adam Sevani’s ACDC Crew.

Miley performed at the annual Wango Tango music festival in Orange County, California last Saturday, and they even recruited the entire crowd to be a part of their growing army, which also includes our favorite dynamic duo Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan.

Not to be outdone, Jon and Adam have started releasing dance battle outtakes showcasing their crew and have come up with a plan to allow all of us to join, single-handedly taking the battle WORLD WIDE!!!

To make this work, the Adam/Chu Dance Crew (aka ACDC) needs your help. Any of us can now make a creative and fun dance video with you or your friends and submit it to Jon.

He suggested that budding crew members maybe can even use a landmark from your hometown to show how far and wide the ACDC crew spreads.

Crew members can either wear an ACDC shirt in their video OR add the new ACDC logo to the end of your video. You can CLICK HERE to download the logo.

So if you’re down with ACDC, submit your video and prove it. Jon will put the best videos in his favorites on the Chu Pictures YouTube channel and maybe even send you a shirt signed by the crew!!!

As promised, here is the first of many more outtakes from ACDC’s lastest battle video. This one features the truly amazing MADD CHADD.

I was excited to receive an email today letting me know that the two ACDC shirts I ordered are on their way. The entire batch of shirts amazingly sold out in the first 24 hours. If you were not lucky enough to get one, no worries. The next small batch will go on sale this coming Tuesday, May 20th, and all proceeds will once again go to the charity Invisible Children.

Stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped, because I will be holding a drawing very soon to give away a free ACDC shirt to one lucky reader!!!

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s ‘Step Up 2′ Co-Stars Nominated for 2008 MTV Movie Award

May 7, 2008

This morning MTV announced the nominees for the “2008 MTV Movie Awards.” You can check out a video highlighting all of the nominees below:

Channing Tatum’s co-stars Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman from ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ were nominated for Best Kiss along side Shia LaBeouf and Sarah Roemer (’Disturbia’), Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey (’Enchanted’), Ellen Page and Michael Cera (’Juno’), and Daniel Radcliffe and Katie Leung (’Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’). Fans can watch the kiss and vote for Briana and Robert by visiting MovieAwards.MTV.com before May 23, 2008.

Fans can also go online to vote for the user-generated category, Best Movie Spoof, where viewers have the opportunity to submit your own original movie shorts parodying films from the past year. MTV has partnered with video sites like Photobucket, MySpace, Daily Motion, Break, Buzznet, Heavy and FunnyorDie to give anyone and everyone with a creative vision their chance to shine at the celeb-filled awards show. Finalists for the Best Movie Spoof will be flown to Los Angeles to attend the awards, where one will be crowned the winner.

The 17th annual awards show will be hosted by Mike Myers and will be broadcast live on MTV from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA on Sunday, June 1st at 8pm/7pm Central. All the latest updates on nominees, presenters, performers, voting, contests and much more can be found on MovieAwards.MTV.com.

On a sort of related note…Anyone following the ACDC vs. M&M biggest online dance battle EVER knows that Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman are the newest members of Jon M. Chu and Adam Sevani’s ACDC crew. If you’re a fan and want to help a good cause, you can now buy the shirts you saw the crew wearing in ACDC’s lastest video (which was recently featured on YouTube’s coveted front page).

If you couldn’t afford to buy a role in Channing Tatum’s ‘Public Enemies‘ (the next charity auction bid is $90,000 by the way), no worries.

Jon Chu just made the limited edition shirts, which cost $14.99 each, available for purchase on EBay and all proceeds go to the charity Invisible Children. It’s an awesome organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for war-affected children by providing access to quality education, enhanced learning environments, and innovative economic opportunities for the community.

It’s a limited run, so you should order quickly (only 42 left as I type this). Jon has even added the option to ship anywhere in the world for overseas fans.

Support ACDC and save the world one shirt at a time!!! I have already bought two shirts, and I will be giving one away on CTU when I get them, so stay tuned.

The Biggest Online Dance Battle Just Got…BIGGER

May 1, 2008

Round 2 of the BIGGEST ONLINE DANCE BATTLE in YouTube history has been kicked off in high style by ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ director Jon M. Chu and actor/dancer Adam Sevani of ACDC (Adam/Chu Dance Crew) as they continue to wage war against M&M (Miley and Mandy Cru)!

These guys have seriously taken off the kid gloves and have pulled out ALL of the stops. I’m talking hat tricks, gravity defiance, even Adam Sevani’s shadow decides to throw down all by itself and then it really gets B-A-N-A-N-A-S

Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum may have been kidnapped by the M&M Cru (making it hard for me to pick sides), but Jon and Adam have recruited EVERYBODY else and their momma for their crew. Their arsenal is no joke. Here’s a small taste of the star-studded line up that dances to Busta Rhymes’ “Don’t Touch Me” in the amazing new video:

  • NLT
  • Brianna Evigan (’Step Up 2′)
  • Robert Hoffman (’Step Up 2′)
  • Chris Scott (’Step Up 2′)
  • Luigi (’Step Up 2′)
  • Flea (’Step Up 2′)
  • Black Thomas (’Step Up 2′)
  • Telisha Shaw (’Step Up 2′)
  • Uber Choreographer Dave Scott (Created the final scene of SU2.)
  • Lacy Schwimmer (So You Think You Can Dance)
  • Adam Shankman (’Step Up 2′ and ‘Hairspray’ Producer)
  • Adam Sandler
  • Chris Brown
  • Brittany Snow
  • Amanda Bynes
  • Diana Ross (Yes, THE Diana Ross!!)
  • Lindsay Lohan
  • Samantha Ronson
  • Jabbawokeez!!!!!

In case you need to get caught up on the battle that started only a few short weeks ago, you can watch all 5 of the videos below (including Madonna’s response to M&M’s last video after they used her infectious song “4 Minutes”). Enjoy!!!

You really have to give it up to ACDC!!! Their video is friggin out of this world!!! Jon and Adam have raised the bar so much that I’m thinking Miley Cyrus may have to actually recruit Madonna or maybe even bring back Elvis or James Brown from the dead to beat them.

Whatever they do, it’s got to be BIG. I honestly don’t know how Miley and Mandy are going to top this, but I can’ wait to see them try.
