VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: New Trailers for Channing Tatum’s ‘21 Jump Street’ and ‘Haywire’ and FIRST LOOK at ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation’
November 17, 2011
In today’s Videos of the Week we have three new trailers and first look footage for Channing Tatum’s comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ and action films ‘Haywire‘ and ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation‘.
First up, we have the hilarious red and green band trailers for ‘21 Jump Street‘! I loved hanging out on the New Orleans set of the film this summer when they shot at Riverdale High School in Jefferson, Louisiana (which is right outside of NOLA and very close to where Chan’s dad Glenn grew up in Metairie). Rumor has it that Chan even made a surprise visit to his dad’s old house during filming. Can you imagine Chan showing up on your doorstep?
This particular trip was my all-time favorite thus far, because it was truly a family affair…from Jenna, Meeka and Lulu to Chan’s Mom to my boys and hubby, we all descended upon New Orleans to visit Chan on set. My kids had an incredible time on their first film set, and it was great to meet Chan’s co-stars, the crew and the directors!
As always, I LOVE observing the film-making process both in front of and behind the camera. I’m really glad my boys were able to watch a couple of hilarious scenes with Chan, Jonah, Rob Riggles, and the school’s principal being filmed (since the movie is rated R and they’re going to have to wait a few years to see it in it’s entirety).
They even got to see Rob getting his CGI makeup done and the setup of a great CGI scene where Chan and Jonah are under the influence and hallucinating. Chan showed us additional footage of what I’ll call “The Bandroom Scene” that didn’t make it into the trailer, but I truly hope makes the film. Chan was friggin HI-larious in the scene and had all of us rolling.
In case you don’t know what it’s about, here’s the official synopsis for the movie:
In the action-comedy 21 Jump Street, Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are more than ready to leave their adolescent problems behind. Joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, they use their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school. As they trade in their guns and badges for backpacks, Schmidt and Jenko risk their lives to investigate a violent and dangerous drug ring. But they find that high school is nothing like they left it just a few years earlier and neither expects that they will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.
As “21 Jump Street” alum Holly Robinson Peete says (both she and Johnny Depp have a cameo in the film)… “this isn’t your parents 21 Jump Street”, but I’m loving their comedic take on the 80’s show and was excited to see footage shot during our set visit featured in the new trailers.
Without further ado, watch the red and green band trailers below…
Next up, we have a newly released kick-ass 2nd trailer for Chan’s Steven Soderbergh-directed action film ”Haywire‘ via Entertainment Weekly. The film was recently chosen as the surprise screening at the AFI Film Festival, and here’s what critics had to say about the movie…
One of the best film critics in the business, Todd McCarthy of The Hollywood Reporter, called the flick “engaging” and said that newbie lead actress, and MMA starlet, Gina Carano, “kicks considerable ass.” Other trade paper Variety chimed in too, calling the action heavy movie “breathtaking” and Carano “coolly charismatic.”
Check out the new trailer…
Last, but not least, we have a FIRST LOOK at ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation courtesy of Entertainment Tonight. After wrapping on ‘Magic Mike‘, Chan returned to the set of Joe to finish filming and officially wrapped on the sequel last week. Fans can check out a sneak peek here…
”Haywire‘ hits theaters on January 20th, ‘21 Jump Street‘ on March 16th and ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation on June 29th next year, and fans can also check out trailers for ‘21 Jump Street‘ and G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation during the telecast for Super Bowl XLVI this February!

VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: Watch Three New Clips from Channing Tatum’s ‘Son of No One’
October 20, 2011
Today’s Videos of the Week are three new clips for Channing Tatum’s crime thriller ‘The Son of No One‘, a searing police thriller where Jonathan “Milk” White (Channing Tatum) is a second-generation cop who gets in over his head when he’s assigned to re-open a double homicide cold case in his Queens neighborhood.
An anonymous source feeding new information on the long-unsolved murders to a local reporter (Juliette Binoche) leads to evidence suggesting a possible cover-up by the former lead detective (Academy Award® winner Al Pacino), who was on the investigation. As Jonathan digs deeper into the assignment, a dark secret about the case emerges, which threatens to destroy his life and his family.
Written and directed by Dito Montiel, the stellar cast includes Academy Award® winner Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Katie Holmes, Academy Award® winner Juliette Binoche, “30 Rock” funnyman Tracy Morgan and James Ransone, in addition to Channing Tatum. The film also features two extraordinarily talented child actors, Jake Cherry and Brian Gilbert, as the young Jonathan and young Vincent Carter (with the adult characters played by Chan and Tracy Morgan).
Here’s why Montiel turned to Chan for the lead role in their third film together…
“Channing is Channing. I love him. I cried when I watched his film, Dear John and I think he’s a great actor all round. I don’t work with him just because I like him; I work with him because he’s great — and I like him too. He’s perfect for the role of Jonathan White.”
‘The Son of No One‘ is set to hit select U.S. theaters on November 4th in New York, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis, Palm Springs, Philadelphia, Phoenix and West Palm Beach. CLICK HERE to buy tickets.
Fans can watch the ‘Son of No One’ trailer and three new clips from the film below…
In the first clip, White’s commanding officer Captain Marion Mathers (played by Ray Liotta) orders him to go to the local newspaper to tell them to put a lid on the story…
In the second clip, White tries to get Vinnie to admit that he talked to someone about the murders…
In the third clip, White’s wife (played by Katie Holmes) confronts him after he returns home late from a shift…
The drama was shot on location in New York City in the Spring of 2010, and fans can check out tons of photos from the film set in the CTU Photo Gallery. Fans can also learn even more about the film on their official site.
Before the US premiere this November, I’ll post the details and exclusive, behind-the-scenes photos of Chan, Jenna, and director Dito Montiel on the set of the film here on CTU. Stay tuned!

VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Channing Tatum is ‘Half a Clown’ on HitRecord.org
October 17, 2011
For those who don’t know, Channing Tatum is a huge fan of longtime friend Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s creative community HitRECord.org. It’s a place where artists and filmmakers can post their work and then collaborate with a community of users who can contribute to the work by adding their own tweaks.
Chan has been posting his work on the site for the past year or so and even appeared in the comedic film short ‘Morgan & Destiny’s Eleventeeth Date’, which is a sequel to ‘Morgan M. Morgansen’s Date with Destiny‘ and premiered to a packed house at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival.
Recently, Chan took a break from his busy schedule (he’s currently filming ‘Magic Mike‘ in Florida) to post yet another original video to the site, and her’s what he had to say about it….
Hey all!! Been a while since I jumped in the record pool. Sorry who knows where the time goes. This is something I shot with a buddy when we found this abandon school. I have more footage but just wanted to throw this together to see what ya thought. We’re gonna go back and do something a little more thought out soon. Would love for someone to write and story, or give any ideas where to take a narrative. I love this character! Miss all of you Recorders!! Much love from the Clown world.
Without further ado, here’s Chan as “Half a Clown” courtesy of HitRecord.org…
Stay tuned to Chan’s profile on HitRecord.org to see how the community turns his original footage into their own work and to see where Chan takes this new character he’s created!

September 6, 2011
In “The Playboy Club” (one of Ology.com’s top ten new shows), Jenna Dewan-Tatum will play an iconic Playboy Bunny named Janie, who she recently told US Weekly Magazine has a “dark, secret past”.
The hour-long drama is set during the political and moral upheaval of the 1960s and is centered around the voluptuous ladies of the original Chicago Playboy Club (which will make it’s comeback in Chi-town early next year).
In addition to Jenna, the show also stars Laura Benanti, Amber Heard, Leah Renee Cudmore, Naturi Naughton, Eddie Cibrian, David Krumholtz, Jenifer Lewis, Wes Ramsey, Cassidy Freeman and Sean Maher.
“The Playboy Club” is planning on bringing in a series of stars to portray famous performers like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. from the 1960s in the period drama. The first guest singer booked was Colbie Caillat. She will play the famed vocalist Lesley Gore and will perform Gore’s classic song “It’s My Party” on the show.
TV Guide just reported that singer/songwriter Rafael Saadiq has been booked to portray a 1960’s version of legendary R&B musician Sam Cooke in the 4th episode, which will air in October. Rafael is scheduled to perform Cooke’s hit song “Having a Party”.
Jenna told me she’s working hard and is definitely breaking out her dancing shoes for the show. Show creator Chad Hodge tweeted this behind-the-scenes pic from set today that shows one of the stages where the bunnies perform…
In today’s Videos of the Week, we have two new videos that NBC just released to give us a sneak peek into the “The Playboy Club” and to show how bunnies changed history…

VIDEO OF THE WEEK: New Trailer for Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s ‘Slightly Single in LA’
April 25, 2011

A few days ago, Jenna Dewan-Tatum packed up her adorable pup Meeka and headed to New Orleans to visit hubby Channing Tatum, who officially kicked off filming for his comedy ‘‘21 Jump Street‘ this morning.
I’ll have more on Chan’s film soon, but on today’s Video of the Week we have the first trailer and a new poster for Jenna’s upcoming romantic comedy ‘Slightly Single in L.A.‘. In addition to Jenna, the comedy also stars Lacey Chabert, Kip Pardue, Carly Schroeder, Simon Rex, Chalier Bewley, Jonathan Bennett, Haylie Duff, and Chris Kattan, and is written and directed by Christie WIll.
Jenna plays Hallie in the movie, and here’s what the film is all about…
Dale Squire is a hip, quirky, independent single gal living in the glossy city of Los Angeles. After several failed attempts in quasi-relationships, Dale concludes that finding a meaningful relationship in L.A. is impossible. But being anti-social is tough for any young girl in Hollywood, and with Dale’s entourage - Jill: a high maintenance ex-soap star obsessed with her own wedding, Becca: an honest C-list actress waiting for her big break in Hollywood, Seven: Dale’s flamboyant house mate, and Hallie: a super sexy, laid back jewelry designer - she is lucky to have such a reliable group of friends in a city where it’s easy to get lost. With Jill’s frantic wedding right around the corner, Dale finds herself reflecting on the significance of marriage, and the mutual respect needed for a successful relationship. When Zach, a successful heartthrob actor and old friend of Dale’s, finds his way back into her life, Dale slowly starts to think that maybe finding love in L.A. is possible - the only problem is that her realization might have come too late, leaving Dale in a silent love triangle, with no way out.
Click on the new poster above to check out the new trailer on the production company’s website, and you can check out tons of set photos and production stills from the film in the CTU Photo Gallery.
Fans can also get more information on the film from their official Facebook page.
