VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s Dizzy Feet Interview & Missy Elliott Video
December 1, 2009
In today’s Videos of the Week, we have a new interview that ‘Step Up‘ gals Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Briana Evigan, and Sharni Vinson (who you see in the above photo taken by director Jon M. Chu with Channing Tatum in the background) did backstage with Chris Trondsen of Pacific Rim Video at the Dizzy Feet Foundation charity gala. Nichelle Thrower of the dance crew We Are Heroes also joins in the conversation before the girls go onstage at the Koday Theater in Hollywood to perform this past Sunday. Check out the new video interview below…
When Jenna started her career as a professional dancer, she worked for various famous performers such as ‘N Sync, Diddy (or whatever he’s calling himself these days), Toni Braxton, Celine Dion, Pink, Missy Elliott, Ricky Martin, and Janet Jackson, just to name a few. Thanks to a tweeter with an eagle eye who spotted Jenna in Missy Elliott’s “Gossip Folks” video, you can check her out in the video below. Enjoy!
Thanks to @kirrea for pointing out that Jenna was in the Missy Elliott video and to @partypooper101 for sending me the Youtube version of the music video!
If you have a favorite video that you would like me to consider, send a link to the video to votw@channingtatumunwrapped.com and tell me why you like it. I will post it and your explanation on the blog.

September 28, 2009
As far as I know (although I keep hoping they’ll surprise us), neither Channing Tatum nor Jenna Dewan are in the third installment of the extremely popular ‘Step Up‘ franchise they started in 2006. Regardless, I’ll be one of the first in line with glasses in hand to see ‘Step Up 3D‘ when it hits theaters next August.
‘Step Up 3D‘ takes the dance battling global; The story follows a passionate, tight-knit group of street dancers (featuring Rick Malambri and Sharni Vinson with the returning actors Adam G. Sevani and Alyson Stoner) who find themselves pitted against the world’s best breakdancers in a high-stakes showdown.
I just added a ton of photos from the set of the film to the CTU Photo Gallery. Also, Entertainment Tonight did a behind the scenes report for the first-ever 3D dance drama this past summer. If you missed it, you can watch the video below to get the latest scoop on the film:

NEWS FLASH: New International Release Dates for Channing Tatum’s ‘Fighting’
December 25, 2008
I have tons of new release dates to share with you all for Channing Tatum’s upcoming action film ‘Fighting‘, which is the first of four films fans will get to see him in in 2009.
The film is set to have an April 24, 2009 theatrical release in the US (a couple of days before Channing’s 29th birthday). Through my research, I was excited to confirm that ‘Fighting‘ will have a wide release all around the world, so I’m happy to say that many CTU readers should get an opportunity to see this film.
As always, the dates below are subject to change (and they often do) and I’m sure more countries will be added as the initial release approaches, but for now, here are the international release dates for the film:
Channing plays the lead in the Dito Montiel-helmed film. The ‘Fighting cast also includes actors Luis Guzmán (’Beverly Hills Chihuahua’, ‘Nothing Like the Holidays’, ‘Yes Man’), Brian J. White (”The Shield”,’Stomp the Yard’) and Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard (’Iron Man’, ‘Hustle & Flow’, ‘Crash’).
I recently found the storyline for the film on Universal’s website. Fans can read it below…
Small-town boy Shawn MacArthur (Channing Tatum) has come to New York City with nothing. Barely earning a living selling counterfeit goods on the streets, his luck changes when scam artist Harvey Boarden (Terrence Howard) sees that he has a natural talent for streetfighting. When Harvey offers Shawn help at making the real cash, the two form an uneasy partnership.
As Shawn’s manager, Harvey introduces him to the corrupt bare-knuckle circuit, where rich men bet on disposable pawns. Almost overnight, he becomes a star brawler, taking down professional boxers, mixed martial arts champs and ultimate fighters in a series of staggeringly intense bouts. But if Shawn ever hopes to escape the dark world in which he’s found himself, he must now face the toughest fight of his life.
I want to thank longtime CTU reader Sergenkab for sending me the Russian release date for ‘Fighting‘, which is called ‘Бой без правил’ in Russia and means “Fight Without Rules”. Sergenkab also said that ‘Battle in Seattle‘ will be released on DVD in Russia on February 12, 2009, and ‘Public Enemies‘, which they call ‘Грабители Банков’ (aka “Bank Robbers”), is now scheduled for release in theaters on July 27, 2009.
The dates above have all been added to the CTU Calendar, and I will update them there if they change prior to the actual release of the movie in each country.
REMINDER: Channing Tatum’s ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ Releases on DVD in Norway
December 21, 2008
I want to let Channing Tatum’s Fabulous Fans in Norway know that ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘, which also stars Robert Hoffman, Briana Evigan, Adam G. Sevani, and Cassie Ventura, was released on DVD in your country on December 17, 2008!!!
Norwegian fans can go to Platekompaniet.no to buy the DVD, and you can get more info on the film and watch the trailer at the Norwegian movie site Film Web.
Norway is one of the last countries where the DVD will be released, but the next installment of the film, ‘Step Up 3D‘, is already in the works and is set for a 2010 release with Jon M. Chu directing and Adam G. Sevani starring.
REMINDER: Channing Tatum’s ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ (aka ‘Let’s Dance 2: Street Dance’) Releases on DVD in the Czech Republic
November 25, 2008
I want to let Channing Tatum’s Fabulous Fans in the Czech Republic know that ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ (aka ‘Let’s Dance 2: Street Dance’) will be released on DVD in your country some time between now and December 15th!!!
This has been the hardest DVD release to pin down by far, because every Czech site I check seems to have a different release date for the DVD for some reason. So I figured that I would just put you all on red alert that the DVD will be released soon.
Czech fans can go to Filmopolis.cz to buy the DVD prior to its release, and you can get more info on the film at the Czech movie site DVDSvet.cz.
You can also check out the subtitled Czech version of the trailer in the video below:
What’s next for ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘? The film will be released on DVD in Norway as early as December 3, 2008 or as late as December 17, 2008, depending on which website you pick.
REMINDER: Channing Tatum’s ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ Releases on DVD in Denmark
October 28, 2008
I want to let Channing Tatum’s Fabulous Fans in Denmark know that ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ was just released on DVD in your country this week!!!
Fans can go to MovieZoo.dk to buy the DVD and watch the trailer with Danish subtitles. You can also get more info on the Danish movie site OnFilm.dk.
What’s next for ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘?
This one’s a little harder to pin down. Different websites are showing different dates, but from what I can tell, the film will be released on DVD next month in the Czech Republic somewhere between November 14th and November 30th.
CHANNING TATUM PROJECT UPDATE: ‘Dear John’, ‘Fighting’, ‘Stanford Prison Experiment’, and ‘Step Up 2’
October 25, 2008
In a recent post, I updated you all on some of Jenna Dewan’s current projects. In addition to a rumored switch from the talent agency William Morris to United Talent Artists with his long time theatrical agent Louise Ward, there’s been a lot of different things going on with Channing Tatum and his movies too. Fans can read below to get all of the latest scoop.
DEAR JOHN
Channing has been filming his romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ all over the beautiful Charleston, South Carolina beaches. In this past week alone, numerous lucky fans have seen him and the cast filming on Isle of Palms beaches on October 20th and on Folly Beach on the 23rd.
In addition to Channing playing the role of John Tyree and Amanda Seyfried playing his love interest Savannah, we recently learned that Scott Porter has also joined the cast. I initially thought he was playing the role of Tim, but have since learned that he may actually have been cast as John’s nemesis Randy.
What we do know for sure is that Henry Thomas, who famously played Elliot in E.T., has been cast in the Lasse Hallström directed love story which is based on a Nicholas Sparks novel that follows a soldier on leave (Channing Tatum) who falls for a college student (Amanda Seyfried) only to reenlist in the Army after 9/11. They are saying that Thomas plays the older man who has an affair with Savannah while John is away. Based on what I know about the storyline, I think that means Henry may have been cast in the role of Tim.
FIGHTING
The Associated Press is reporting that Relativity Media is currently in talks with Universal Studios to acquire Rogue Pictures. The sale would include Rogue’s 30-title library, four films that are set for release in 2009, and its entire development slate.
Why should this tidbit of information matter to Channing Tatum fans? I’ll try to explain…
Channing Tatum’s underground mix martial arts drama ‘Fighting‘, which also stars Oscar nominee Terrence Howard, is one of those four Rogue Pictures films that are set to release in 2009. Initially I had read that ‘Fighting‘ may be released early in 2009, but the fact that Rogue could be purchased by Relativity makes that release date a little more uncertain. We may now have to wait until later in the year to see the film.
I’m really looking forward to seeing this one, so I hope the release date ends up being sooner rather than later, but sadly that’s all up to the studio gods (whoever they end up being).
STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT
I hate to be the harbinger of bad news today, but the Stanford Daily is saying there may be a delay in another one of Chan’s potential projects. (On a side note, delays are very common in the entertainment industry, so it’s something I’m starting to get used to.)
They are reporting that the ‘Stanford Prison Experiment‘ is still in the works, but the big-screen Hollywood retelling of Stanford Professor Philip Zimbardo’s famed 1970’s prison experiment continues to hit roadblocks.
The film was originally delayed when Christopher McQuarrie, the director and co-writer of the film with Tim Talbott, went abroad to Berlin to work on Tom Cruise’s upcoming movie “Valkyrie” (a film about the assassination plot against Adolf Hitler) as a writer, producer and assistant director. Additional delays were also caused by a now settled law suit over distribution rights for the film.
With the delays hopefully behind him, McQuarrie is currently at the casting stage. He is searching for actors to play the prison guard ensemble, Professor Zimbardo, Carlo Prescott (an ex-convict and chief consultant for the experiment who has raised objections to the making of the movie) and psychologist Christina Maslach (the film’s heroine).
Despite previous rumors that Ryan Phillippe, Kieran Culkin, Paul Dano, Jesse Eisenberg, Charlie Hunnam, Ben McKenzie and Channing Tatum would be starring in the movie, no main characters have yet been completely confirmed.
The real Professor Zimbardo, a senior consultant for the movie who works closely with its writers, conducted the experiment in 1971. He assigned student volunteers to the roles of prison guards and prisoners, but the study was ended prematurely due to the intense reactions of the subjects to their roles.
Although the film was originally slated to be released in 2009, the ‘Stanford Prison Experiment‘ is currently considered to be on hold without a release date. Fan’s shouldn’t fret, because Chan has plenty of other projects in development to keep him and his fans very busy in 2009 and beyond.
STEP UP 2: THE STREETS
To end this movie update on a happier note, I want to let Channing Tatum’s Fabulous Fans in Sweden know that his highly successful dance hit ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ was just released on DVD in your country this week!!!
Fans can CLICK HERE to buy the DVD and can get more info on the Swedish movie site LoveFilm.se.
What’s next for ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘? The film will next release on DVD in Denmark on October 28, 2008.
