DVD Cover for Channing Tatum's 'Stop-Loss' (Region 1)

In keeping with CTU tradition, I will be giving away a free DVD to one lucky CTU reader. What makes this particular giveaway even more special is the fact that the DVD has been sent to me personally by ‘Stop-Loss‘ director Kimberly Peirce to thank us for all of the support we have given the film.

It’s extremely easy to enter the contest. All you have to do is send an email by the end of the day on July 7, 2008 to contests@channingtatumunwrapped.com with the subject “Stop-Loss DVD” and with your mailing address. I will announce the winner of the special DVD on the blog on July 8, 2008.

Also, don’t forget about Paramount’s cool contest where they are giving away 3 autographed prize packs (that will also include a DVD, poster, soundtrack, and more), and the winners will even be notified via a phone call from director Kimberly Peirce. You can CLICK HERE for all of the contest details so you can enter by their July 22, 2008 deadline.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

NEWS FLASH: New Soundtrack, Interview, Review, and Message from Channing Tatum’s ‘Stop-Loss’

April 11, 2008

I rarely win anything, so I was completely surprised when a producer from Channing Tatum’s new movie ‘Stop-Loss‘ contacted me to let me know I was one of the lucky winners of the autographed poster contest they recently had on their Facebook fan page.

I was even more excited when I received the poster and realized it was signed by director Kimberly Peirce and actors Channing Tatum, Ryan Rhillippe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Victor Rasuk, and Rob Brown. It’s definitely a keeper, but you may just be able to get your very own poster and help a child in need at the same time.

If you would like to get your own autographed ‘Stop-Loss‘ poster, I learned today that one similar to mine is being auctioned off by an established Ebay charity called Variety’s Kids. Via a company called MissionFish, Ebay guarantees that 100% of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to the charity whose mission is to assist addicted, abused, neglected and physically-challenged children. You can CLICK HERE to bid on the autographed poster.

One of the really great things about ‘Stop-Loss‘ is that director Kimberly Peirce has been extremely active in the community that has developed on the movie’s official website and on their Facebook and MySpace pages. She sent out the following message to community members today::

Thank you for seeing “Stop-Loss” in theaters.

I have been touched by your enthusiastic, emotional responses [on MySpace] and on Facebook - Facebook.com/Stoplossmovie as well as our Soundoff - StopLossMovie.com/soundoff sites.

As military family, and someone who has spent a great deal of time interviewing soldiers and their families in order to make sure this movie authentically portrayed them, this movie and this issue means a tremendous amount to me;

For that reason, it means so much to me that the soldiers and their families and friends are enjoying it and saying it accurately portrays their lives (in combat and upon coming home):

STOP-LOSSED soldiers like “8-2″ who was Stop-Lossed in 2005, “CHRIS” and his wife who are both vets and say it spoke the truth, “DRIVER PICKS THE MUSIC SHOTGUN SHUTS HIS CAKEHOLE! ” Who’s friends with 3 brave soldiers, “DEAN TO THE AHHH” who’s soldier is currently serving, “TERRY (LADY IN CAMOUFLAGE)” who spent 22 years in an Army uniform, her husband 34 in his Army uniform” Hooah”… as well as “MARCELA”, “MSHAROCKS” “DAN” and “NEVER NEVER LAND”

It also means a tremendous amount to me that people who are not connected to the military do care about the soldiers and their families and are saying that this movie is opening their eyes to what is happening to their fellow citizens and they want to do something to help.

Many people have asked me how soldiers are responding to the movie. You can certainly see some of it by looking at these comments.

You can also see more comments by looking on our FACEBOOK AND SOUNDOFF sites.

I have taken the opportunity to talk about the process of working with soldiers throughout the making of the film and their responses to the movie when I screened STOP-LOSS around the country (on our 24 city tour) and now that we have opened in theaters on the SOUNDOFF SITE - check out the long post under my name.

Thank you for your support; as you have said you have been touched, entertained and inspired by our movie, I hope you will tell your friends and family to see “Stop-Loss” in theaters as people seeing it in theaters keeps it in theaters.

Thank you,
Kimberly

In case you didn’t already know, the new CD for the ‘Stop-Loss‘ soundtrack is now available on Amazon, and you can download the MP3 version on the UK site Play.com, which includes the entire score for the film. You can get a complete tracklist and even listen to snippets of all the songs on Play.com before you buy.

I also found a great review of the film from Mark Biskeborn at Los Angeles-based CityZine.com.

‘Stop Loss’ is a film required viewing for anyone with a heart-beat. Its emotional drive keeps your pulse racing. You could go watch a flick about a bank robbery or a border crossing…but, hey, that’s been done before.

Though highly entertaining, the story carries us far beyond mere cinematic amusement, its characters deal with high stakes of country and duty, life and death, family and identity, love and self. Its narrative handles the complexity of how red-blooded Americans are coping with the war in Iraq. The otherwise uninvolved civilian audience, we step quickly inside the lives of patriotic soldiers who care about their country and learn the hard way that good intentions and innocence hardly suffice as a compass through the big world. It helps us all to take a look at who we are as Americans regardless if we’re in or out of small-town USA, liberal or conservative….

In the movie’s 112 minutes much happens in non-stop dramatic action. I highly recommend this film, we don’t have time to miss it.

You can CLICK HERE to read the review in it’s entirety.

Finally, you can check out a really good interview that KVUE News in Austin, TX recently did with Kimberly Peirce, Channing Tatum, Ryan Phillippe, and the rest of the ‘Stop-Loss‘ cast. Enjoy!

Stop-Loss‘ is an moving and powerful film. If you haven’t already, make sure that you go out an see it ASAP.

Songs from Channing Tatum’s ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ That Didn’t Make the Soundtrack

March 9, 2008

I and fans around the world love Channing Tatum’s new movie ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ for many reasons, but the two that stand out the most are probably the incredible dancing and the amazing music that is prevalent throught out the film.

One of the questions I see the most on boards is people trying to identify various songs. Because the official soundtrack could not include all of the songs in the movie on it, people are desperate to identify each and every track and the artist so they can go hunt them down and add them to their playlist.

Thanks to Misha over at Briana Evigan Online and Lainy at RobertHoffman.info we now have a list of most, if not all of the non-soundtrack songs in Channing Tatum’s ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘. Enjoy!

  • » Get Down [Busta Rhymes]
