VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: Watch Three New Clips from Channing Tatum’s ‘Son of No One’
October 20, 2011
Today’s Videos of the Week are three new clips for Channing Tatum’s crime thriller ‘The Son of No One‘, a searing police thriller where Jonathan “Milk” White (Channing Tatum) is a second-generation cop who gets in over his head when he’s assigned to re-open a double homicide cold case in his Queens neighborhood.
An anonymous source feeding new information on the long-unsolved murders to a local reporter (Juliette Binoche) leads to evidence suggesting a possible cover-up by the former lead detective (Academy Award® winner Al Pacino), who was on the investigation. As Jonathan digs deeper into the assignment, a dark secret about the case emerges, which threatens to destroy his life and his family.
Written and directed by Dito Montiel, the stellar cast includes Academy Award® winner Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Katie Holmes, Academy Award® winner Juliette Binoche, “30 Rock” funnyman Tracy Morgan and James Ransone, in addition to Channing Tatum. The film also features two extraordinarily talented child actors, Jake Cherry and Brian Gilbert, as the young Jonathan and young Vincent Carter (with the adult characters played by Chan and Tracy Morgan).
Here’s why Montiel turned to Chan for the lead role in their third film together…
“Channing is Channing. I love him. I cried when I watched his film, Dear John and I think he’s a great actor all round. I don’t work with him just because I like him; I work with him because he’s great — and I like him too. He’s perfect for the role of Jonathan White.”
‘The Son of No One‘ is set to hit select U.S. theaters on November 4th in New York, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis, Palm Springs, Philadelphia, Phoenix and West Palm Beach. CLICK HERE to buy tickets.
Fans can watch the ‘Son of No One’ trailer and three new clips from the film below…
In the first clip, White’s commanding officer Captain Marion Mathers (played by Ray Liotta) orders him to go to the local newspaper to tell them to put a lid on the story…
In the second clip, White tries to get Vinnie to admit that he talked to someone about the murders…
In the third clip, White’s wife (played by Katie Holmes) confronts him after he returns home late from a shift…
The drama was shot on location in New York City in the Spring of 2010, and fans can check out tons of photos from the film set in the CTU Photo Gallery. Fans can also learn even more about the film on their official site.
Before the US premiere this November, I’ll post the details and exclusive, behind-the-scenes photos of Chan, Jenna, and director Dito Montiel on the set of the film here on CTU. Stay tuned!

CHANNING TATUM VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: ‘Son Of No One’ Interview & EXCLUSIVE Trailer and New ‘Eagle’ TV Spots
January 20, 2011
Today’s Videos of the Week include the first official trailer and an on-set interview from MTV for Channing Tatum’s drama ‘The Son of No One‘ and two new two spots for his Roman drama ‘The Eagle‘. Enjoy!!!
With one film under his belt (’The Dilemma‘) and as many as four more to go this year (’Son of No One‘, ‘The Eagle‘, ‘Haywire‘, and ‘Ten Year‘), Chan will promote his highly buzzed-about second movie of the year when he and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum attend the world premiere of his drama ‘Son of No One‘ next Friday. The film is closing out the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, which kicked off in Park City, Utah today.
MTV has an exclusive official trailer for the film, which has an amazing cast that also includes Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche, Katie Holmes and “30 Rock” funnyman Tracy Morgan in his first true dramatic role.
Check out the new ‘Son of No One’ trailer below…
MTV also visited the New York City set of ‘The Son of No One‘ last April. You can CLICK HERE to check out tons of set pics in the CTU Photo Gallery, and you can watch an interview with Chan, Tracy, and director Dito Montiel below…
“Directed by Sundance vet Dito Montiel (”A Guide to Recognizing Our Saints,” “Fighting”), “Son of No One” follows two friends (Tatum and Morgan) forced to face the consequences of a murder they committed — and got away with — 16 years earlier. Tatum’s character Jonathan “Milk” White has gone on to a successful career with the police force and has a happy home life with his wife (Holmes) and Child. Morgan’s character Vinnie has kind of gone the other way. When Milk is assigned to the precinct where he grew up, his decade-and-a-half-old secret threatens to tear apart his life and his family.”
When it gets closer to the release of the film, I’ll have my behind-the-scenes account from deep inside the ‘The Son of No One‘ set with Chan, Jenna, and Dito!
Channing Tatum’s Roman epic ‘The Eagle‘ is helmed by award-winning director Kevin Macdonald and is based on the best-selling, classic 1954 teen novel by Rosemary Sutcliff, which is set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. The movie will hit theaters on February 11th, and THR is reporting that fans will get another sneak peek of the film before this year’s Super Bowl.
In the mean-time, you can watch the latest TV spots (”Warrier” and “Conquer“) below….

MOVIE BYTES: ‘Haywire’ Official Release Date, ‘21 Jump Street’ Location Info, ‘Son of No One’ Official Poster and More!!!
January 19, 2011
It’s official…Channing Tatum has one of America’s Most Wanted Celebrity Body Parts. Mark Wahlberg, Chan, and Tyson Beckford all topped the “Most Desired Male Body” list on the 14th Annual “Famed Hottest Looks” survey. The list, which is compiled by Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeons Dr. Richard Fleming and Dr. Toby Mayer, is based on their patient’s most popular requests in 2010.
I also found a few other project-related bits of news about Chan’s upcoming films ‘Haywire‘ , ‘21 Jump Street‘, and ‘Son of No One‘. Check out today’s Movie Bytes to get the latest scoop. Enjoy!!!
HAYWIRE
The Playlist is exclusively reporting that Chan’s action-revenge spy thriller ‘Haywire‘ now has an official release date.
After watching Chan flex his comedic chops in ‘The Dilemma‘ last weekend and tackle a Roman-era dramatic role in ‘The Eagle‘ on February 11, 2011, fans will get a triple dose of the busy actor in ‘Haywire‘ when it hits theaters on April 22, 2011…a mere 7 days before the entire world shuts down to watch Prince William marry Kate Middleton in the royal wedding of the century.
‘Haywire‘ is about a black ops spy (Carano) who’s betrayed by her team and goes rogue in an attempt to figure out who’s setting her up. While everyone is on the same side initially, the film supposedly features a lot of duplicity, double crosses, and reversals of allegiances.
Chan (who filmed his role in Barcelona, Spain and New Mexico last February and March) will play one of the elite specialists on Carano’s team. His character is a military gearhead-type who’s sent to try and bring her back in once she’s been double-crossed.
The incredible supporting cast also includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Angarano, and Mathieu Kassovitz. Fassbender reportedly plays an untrustworthy teammate, while Douglas ultimately proves to be an ally. McGregor, the owner of the Blackwater-type special ops team (and once a romantic interest to Carano), is instrumental in trying to make her character, Mallory Kane, take the fall for an incident that goes wrong and involves a murder.
21 JUMP STREET
In a recent post, I let you all know that Chan and Jonah Hill were going to star in and executive produce a big-screen adaptation of the popular 80’s television show “21 Jump Street”, which starred Johnny Depp.
During a press junket interview for ‘The Dilemma,’ Chan talked to MTV about Johnny signing on for a cameo (which Depp has said he’s interested in doing). Chan told MTV…
“We’re going to try and do it. With every piece of us, we’re going to try to do it…There are a bunch of possible characters he could play. It’s really his pick.” And just for the record, neither of their characters, Tatum said, are related to characters from the original series. So Tatum won’t be, say, the son of Depp’s Tom Hanson. “It’s an entirely new imagination of what ‘21 Jump Street’ is…We’re not doing a spoof whatsoever. It will be crazy characters that are in very unreal circumstances sometimes.”
Check out Chan’s new interview below…
The film will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from a screenplay by Michael Bacall based on a treatment from Hill and Bacall. Neal H. Moritz will produce the film with Stephen J. Cannell, who will receive posthumous credit.
Collider also recently got an update on the comedy from Moritz…
“Yeah, I just got the new draft I’m gonna read that one this afternoon as well. We’ve got Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, and we’re really excited about it. I had dinner with the two of those guys like the week before we all took off for a break and they’re really good together and they’re very excited to do the movie together and it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”
Jonah Hill, who penned the script, also talked to MTV about the production schedule and said filming is set to kick off on April 11th in New Orleans.
IMDB is already reporting that ‘21 Jump Street‘ will have a March 16, 2012 theatrical release date in the US and an April 20, 2012 release date in the UK.
SON OF NO ONE
Chan’s crime thriller ‘Son of No One‘ is the closing film for this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will premiere at Park City’s Eccles Theatre on January 28th at 6:15pm (BUY TICKETS HERE).
Today, the Hollywood Reporter released a new poster for the film and had this to say about the Dito Montiel-directed gritty crime drama…
“Dito Montiel, who brought A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints to Sundance in 2006, returns with The Son of No One this year. The film, which is being repped by UTA, WME and Cassian Elwes at the fest, has a high-powered cast (Channing Tatum, Al Pacino, Ray Liotta and Juliette Binoche) and is drawing a lot of heat ahead of its closing night slot. There is a P&I screening Monday morning, earlier in the fest.”
‘Son of No One‘ is about two men in post-9/11 New York who are forced to relive two murders they committed as young boys, and their lives start to unravel by the threat of the revelation of these shocking and personal secrets. In addition to Chan, the star-studded cast also includes Katy Holmes (who plays Chan’s character’s wife), Tracy Morgan, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche and Al Pacino.
The entire film was shot in New York City this past Spring, and fans can check out tons of photos from the film set in the CTU Photo Gallery. I visited the set last April and will finally post the details and exclusive, behind-the-scenes photos of Chan, Jenna, and director Dito Montiel here on CTU on January 28th in honor of the world premiere!
Finally, updates have been a bit sparse over the past few days here on CTU, because I have been trying to come up for air after another amazing set visit. I spent a few days with Chan, Jenna, and the cast and crew of ‘Ten Year‘ in New Mexico last week.
They’re truly an incredible bunch (shout out to my new friends Wallace (aka Reid #2), Aaron, and Mr. Londy), and I can’t wait to see the film. Stay tuned to CTU this week for the first of many exclusive updates on the film!
