The sequel (’G.I. JOE 2: RETALIATION‘) will debut a new TV spot during Super Bowl XLVI on February 5th, but the night before ‘G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA‘ will make its network television premiere on USA February 4th at 7:00PM Central (the same night that Chan will host Saturday Night Live)! RUMOR OR REEL?: New Name and Filming Location for the Sequel to Channing Tatum’s ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra’

Recently, Paramount announced an official release date for the sequel to Channing Tatum’s $302 million grossing action film ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘.
Now, rumors are floating around about a possible name and potential filming location for the highly-anticipated movie…
If you’ll recall, ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ filmed all over the world…California, Czech Republic, France, and more. NOLA.com is not only reporting that the film’s sequel will be called ‘G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes‘, but that it will also possibly shoot in Baton Rouge from August 1st through late November (according to Louisiana’s office of film and video).
As many of you know, Chan is currently working on his comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ in New Orleans (about 90 minutes from Baton Rouge) through June, so filming for ‘G.I. Joe 2‘ could extend his stay in the Bayou State.
Jon Chu (’Step Up 2‘, ‘Step Up 3D‘, ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’), who’s directing the sequel, recently told Box Office Magazine…
“There’s something about G.I. Joe that has history, that has a soul…very few brands have a soul. Like the Boy Scouts have something to do with America, even Mickey Mouse, even Apple has a soul to it. And Joe has a soul. And I’ve never felt like I’ve had a movie of Joe of where I can taste my childhood right there.”
In his interview, Jon also mentions that the script (written by “Zombieland” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) “is really good”, and they are working to “build in a few more things that will make it even better”.
In his pursuit to create a film with a “grittiness” and a “new attitude”, he let Box Office Magazine know that he would love to take it to the next level in 3D, but the final decision has not been made yet.
The production is currently in the beginning of the film making process…picking and designing characters and the worlds they will live in. Jon is also forming his production team and in true Jon style wants the fans to help decide what characters make it onto the screen.

In today’s Videos of the Week we have Channing Tatum’s acceptance speech at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards where he came down with an acute case of Bieber Fever while winning a surfboard for Choice Movie Actor: Action Adventure for his role in ‘G.I. Joe‘. We also have Chan’s HitRECord.org comedic short that premiered to a packed house at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival in March and was featured on NYMag.com earlier this week. Enjoy!

Channing Tatum Wins Another Surfboard at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards

The 2010 Teen Choice Awards will once again celebrate the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion in a star-studded two-hour event that will air TONIGHT, Aug. 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Channing Tatum (who was nominated for 3 awards) and Jenna Dewan-Tatum (in Brian Atwood black suede “Marlo” pumps and an Alice + Olivia box pleat leather skirt) walked the awards show’s blue carpet yesterday.
Fans can check out two personal pics they took before and during the event and tons of new photos of their arrival and of Chan accepting his award for Choice Movie Actor: Action/Adventure for ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘. Enjoy!!!

RUMOR OR REEL?: Channing Tatum’s ‘G.I. Joe’ Sequel Secures a Director

As we’ve seen in the ‘Twilight’ franchise, there is no guarantee, for a multitude of reasons, that each film in the series will have the same director (or even the same actors), but the stars seemed to have aligned for ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ director Stephen Sommers…
TheWrap is exclusively reporting that Sommers (’The Mummy’, ‘Van Helsing’, ‘Tarzan’) will return to direct Paramount’s sequel to Chan’s $300-plus million grossing action film.
Back in April, MTV News caught up with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the executive producer for both ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ and ‘G.I. Joe 2‘. Although Bonaventura was tight-lipped on details, he did confirm that they were working on the script with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (”Zombieland”). An insider told TheWrap that “the studio is happy with the draft they turned in”.
He also mentioned that Paramount is very excited about getting the movie going, and they’ll possibly begin filming in the Spring of 2011. They’re hoping for a Summer 2012 release.

More 2010 Teen Choice Awards Nominations Are In…Vote for Channing Tatum, ‘Dear John’, and ‘G.I. Joe’!!!

The 2010 Teen Choice Awards just announced wave two of their categories and nominees. In addition to his “Choice Movie: Actor Drama” nomination for ‘Dear John‘ and the “Choice Movie: Actor Action Adventure” nomination for ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘, Channing Tatum has gained a third nomination for the “Choice Movie: Chemistry” category with his ‘Dear John‘ co-star Amanda Seyfried!!!
Both ‘Dear John‘ and ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ have also been nominated in the “Choice Movie: Drama” and “Choice Movie: Action Adventure” categories too!
Once again, we all need to band together to help Chan and his films win their categories for this year’s awards.
The Show
Teen Choice 2010 will celebrate the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion in the star-studded two-hour event airing Monday, Aug. 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Grammy-nominated artist Katy “California Gurl” Perry is set to host this year’s event.
The Lineup
In the “Choice Movie: Drama” category (which Chan won in 2008), he’s competing against Jake Gyllenhaal (’Brothers’), Tobey Maguire (’Brothers’), Robert Pattinson (’Remember Me’) and Jeremy Renner (’The Hurt Locker’).
In the “Choice Movie: Action Adventure” category, Chan will be battling Nicolas Cage (’Kick-Ass’), Russell Crowe (’Robin Hood’), Matt Damon (’Green Zone’) and Robert Downey Jr. (’Sherlock Holmes’).
In the “Choice Movie: Chemistry” category, Chan and Amanda are up against Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds (’The Proposal’), Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth (’The Last Song’), Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift (’Valentine’s Day’), and Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson (’The Twilight Saga: New Moon’).
The Voting
Fans ages 13-19 can vote for their favorite Teen Choice 2010 nominees at www.teenchoiceawards.com. When you vote, you can make only one choice per category, per day, per email address, but you can (and should) vote EVERY DAY until August 6, 2010 to help Chan and his films win. Just so you know…Chan’s categories are located in the Movies section on the first page of voting, and the awards show does not require you to vote for every category for your vote to count.
