A STARRY NIGHT at HEMINGWAYS…It was Friday August 20th, and a bunch of us decided to have a night out. It was our first time going to Hemingways , which is a really nice bar in Yorkville. FAN ENCOUNTER: Channing Tatum Hanging with Fans in Toronto

August 24, 2010

I have to admit. It didn’t take very long. Channing Tatum just arrived in Toronto a few days ago to start working on pre-production for his romantic drama ‘The Vow,’ and we already have our first fan encounter. Here’s what fan @MrWillW had to say about running into Chan on the streets of Toronto…

Temperatures sure have been dipping in Toronto of late, but things just suddenly got a little lot hotter. Alabama-born Channing Tatum arrived in Toronto last night to prepare for his role in Michael Sucsy’s next film The Vow, in which he stars alongside Canada’s sweetheart Rachel McAdams…Tatum was all smiles, coming over to say “hi” and pose for a few photos, before heading off to a work-related meeting. He was engaged in a conversation on his Bluetooth Headpiece, but had the courtesy of ending the conversation before coming over, telling his friend that he’d catch up later. He even asked a small group of fans to make sure their photos turned out before heading off. Aww.

You guys can check out a few more new pics that @MrWillW took of Chan during two different encounters below…

@MrWillW, who also happens to be a local entertainment reporter, says that ‘The Vow‘ is scheduled to film in and around Toronto until October 22, 2010, so I hope this is the first of many fan-friendly encounters I get to share with you guys!

Big thanks to @MrWillW for sending me the photos and info! If you happen to run into Chan or Jenna, send your photos and fan encounter stories to fanencounters@channingtatumunwrapped.com. I will post them on the blog to share with envious fans all around the globe! ;-)

UNWRAPPED PHOTOS: Channing Tatum in Toronto Prepping for ‘The Vow’

August 22, 2010

In the CTU Photo Gallery, I just posted some new photos of Channing Tatum in Canada where he’s working on pre-production for his next film ‘The Vow‘. Chan, Rachel McAdams, and possibly Scott Speedman will start filming the romantic drama next month in Toronto.

The film is based on a true story about a young woman (played by ‘The Notebook’s Rachel McAdams) who loses all recent memory in a car accident and struggles to rebuild her identity and remember her husband (played by Chan). Speedman will potentially play McAdams’ former fiance, with whom she begins to rekindle a romance in her amnesiac state.

Thanks to fan site Channing-T.com, fans can CLICK HERE check out some new pics of Chan leaving Hemingway’s Restaurant in Toronto yesterday and can stay tuned to CTU to get the latest news on ‘The Vow‘.

CASTING NEWS: Scott Speedman May Join Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams in ‘The Vow’

August 19, 2010

I may be dating myself here, but when I was growing up I was a HUGE fan of the show “Felicity“. I loved Keri Russell, who played the main character Felicity Porter, but I will admit that a big part of my obsession with the show had a lot to do with her on-again, off-again, on-again adorable boyfriend Ben Covington who was played by Scott Speedman (’Underworld’, ‘Adoration’, ‘The Strangers’). For you young bucks, “Felicity” was kind of like a collegic-level “Gossip Girl” with a smaller wardrobe budget and a late 90’s era angst.

So what does my college celeb crush have to do with Chan? Well…THR is reporting that Scott is in negotiations to join Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams’ romantic drama ‘The Vow‘.

The Vow‘ is the real-life story of Arizona couple Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, which is chronicled in a book called “The Vow: The Kim and Krickitt Carpenter Story‘ and dates from 1993, two months after their marriage, when their car was hit from behind by a truck.

Here’s a description of the book that the film is based on…

“Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition on November 24, 1993, two months after their marriage, when their Ford Escort was hit from behind by a fast-moving truck. A massive head injury left Krickitt in a coma for weeks. When she finally emerged from the coma, she recognized her parents and everyone else — but she didn’t know Kim. She had no idea who he was. The ‘Krickitt’ Kim had married essentially died in the accident. The Vow is the true tale of the reconstruction of two lives and a marriage after an event so shattering that most others would have parted ways long ago. Though it was not easy, and it tested every fiber of who they were, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again.”

Screen Gems Studios (a Sony-based shingle) will co-finance with Spyglass Entertainment and will also distribute the Michael Sucsy-directed film. Spyglass’ Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, and Jonathan Glickman are producing ‘The Vow,’ and Sucsy, who directed HBO’s award-winning film ‘Grey Gardens’, is rewriting the script. The production will start filming in Toronto, Canada in September.

I was already excited about this film, and casting just seems to keep getting better and better. From Chan to Rachel to Scott, this is one set I would LOVE to visit!!! Even if I don’t make it to set, I can’t wait for the press junket and/or premiere!

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s Comedy with Vince Vaughn Settles on ‘The Dilemma’

July 31, 2010

Channing Tatum's MoviesThere’s tons of reasons why movies may change names before they hit the theaters. I don’t know what spurred on the latest change for Channing Tatum’s upcoming comedy, but according to ChicagoTribune.com, the film has yet another new name…

Earlier this month, I reported that Chan’s comedy, previously known by its working title ‘Cheaters,’ had finally gotten the official name ‘What You Don’t Know‘. The Chicago Tribune is now reporting that the film has been renamed to ‘The Dilemma‘.

Regardless of the name changes, the cast and plot of the film are still the same. In addition to Chan, Vince Vaughn, and Kevin James, the star-studded ‘Dilemma‘ cast also includes Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly and Queen Latifah. The movie is about a man (Vaughn) who finds out his best friend’s wife (Ryder) is cheating on him (James), only to struggle with what to do with the knowledge, and Chan plays Ryder’s tattooed and pierced lover.

The Dilemma‘ is produced by Vince Vaughn and Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment. The movie started filming in Chicago on May 25th, will wrap up filming around August 6th, and currently has a January 14, 2011 release date from Universal.

Fans can CLICK HERE to check out the first photos and video of Chan on set and can CLICK HERE to see what he does in his spare time in Chi-Town.

NEWS FLASH: Sony and Screen Gems Make a ‘Vow’ to Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams

July 21, 2010

Last month, I gave you guys all of the details on Channing Tatum’s next romantic drama. It’s called ‘The Vow‘ and is based on a true story about a young woman (played by ‘The Notebook’s Rachel McAdams) who loses all recent memory in a car accident and struggles to rebuild her identity.

Deadline Hollywood is exclusively reporting that Screen Gems Studios (a Sony-based shingle) will co-finance with Spyglass Entertainment and will also distribute the Michael Sucsy-directed film. Spyglass’ Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, and Jonathan Glickman are producing ‘The Vow,’ and Sucsy, who directed HBO’s award-winning film ‘Grey Gardens’, is rewriting the script.

Deadline also confirms that the production will start filming in Toronto, Canada in September.

Chan’s highly successful romantic drama, ‘Dear John,’ exceeded Sony and Screen Gems’ expectations by making over $30 million opening weekend, over $80 million domestically, and over $112 million worldwide since this year’s February 5th theatrical release. On top of all of that, the film was the first to knock juggernaut ‘Avatar‘ out of it’s #1 box office spot and topped DVD, Blu-ray, and On Demand sales when it debuted on May 25th.

With that kind of history, the fact that Sony and Screen Gems decided to also get behind ‘The Vow‘ doesn’t surprise me one bit!

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s Comedy ‘Cheaters’ Gets Its REAL Name

July 14, 2010

Channing Tatum's MoviesRecently, I reported that Channing Tatum’s Roman-era drama (previously called ‘The Eagle of the Ninth‘) was changed to ‘The Eagle‘. You can now add another one of his films to that growing list of re-named movies.

The working title for Chan’s upcoming comedy has been ‘Cheaters‘, but the movie is now officially going to be called ‘What You Don’t Know‘. I first noticed the new name in a Chicago Tribune article a couple of weeks ago, but wanted to hold off on writing about it until I could confirm the change.

Thanks to Entertainment Tonight, director Ron Howard and stars Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, we not only get a confirmation on the new name, we also get the latest scoop on the film in their exclusive interview strait from the Chicago set of ‘What You Don’t Know‘…

In addition to Chan, Vince Vaughn, and Kevin James, the star-studded ‘What You Don’t Know‘ cast also includes Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly and Queen Latifah. The movie is about a man (Vaughn) who finds out his best friend’s wife (Ryder) is cheating on him (James), only to struggle with what to do with the knowledge, and Chan plays Ryder’s tattooed and pierced lover.

What You Don’t Know‘ is produced by Vince Vaughn and Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment. As far as I know, Chan has completed most or all of his scenes, but the movie will be filming in Chicago from May 25th and through August 6th, and currently has a January 14, 2011 release date from Universal.

Fans can CLICK HERE to check out the first photos and video of Chan on set and can CLICK HERE to see what he does in his spare time in Chi-Town.
