Oscar-Qualifying Run for Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s ‘Earth Made of Glass’ Starts This Weekend!!
August 21, 2010
“There is no den in the wide world to hide a rogue. Commit a crime, and the EARTH is MADE OF GLASS.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
Exciting news!!! ‘Earth Made of Glass‘, a political documentary that’s produced by Channing Tatum, wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Reid Carolin under their production company 33&Out, will have and Oscar-qualifying run in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles starting this weekend.
The moving film, which has been endorsed by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, follows Rwandan President Paul Kagame and genocide survivor Jean-Pierre Sagahutu and had a standing room only premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City this past April.
Against the backdrop of the world’s deadliest war in neighboring Eastern Congo, Rwandan President Paul Kagame released a report on August 6th, 2008 detailing the French government’s hidden role in planning the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Three months later, his closest aide, Rose Kabuye, was arrested by France on charges of terrorism. Meanwhile, a genocide survivor haunted by his father’s unsolved murder scours the Rwandan countryside on a 15-year search for clues. Despite having never met, the story of a President and an ordinary citizen become inextricably linked in this extraordinary documentary.
‘EARTH MADE OF GLASS‘ is directed by Deborah Scranton. She also directed ‘The War Tapes’ (short-listed for the Oscar in 2007), which influenced how they made Chan’s 2008 Iraq war drama ‘Stop-Loss‘.
Fans can watch the documentary’s official trailer below…
Below you can find screening dates, times, and locations for this weekend and next week…
- August 20 - 26, 6:45PM & 8:25PM - Coliseum Cinemas - 701 West 181st Street, New York, NY
- August 20 - 26, 1:20PM & 3:05pm - Laemmle’s Fallbrook - 6731 Fallbrook Ave, West Hills, CA

Watch Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s ‘Earth Made of Glass’ at Dartmouth Tomorrow
August 12, 2010
Tweet Earlier this year, Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum joined forces with friend and fellow producer Reid Carolin to executive produce their first film via their production company 33&Out. That film is a moving political documentary called ‘EARTH MADE OF GLASS‘, and the well received doc, which follows Rwandan President Paul Kagame and genocide survivor Jean-Pierre Sagahutu, had a standing room only premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City this past April.
I was lucky enough to attend the premiere with Chan, Jenna, Reid, and their good friends Nick Zano, Haylie Duff, and Jamie Linden (the screenwriter for ‘Dear John‘).
What could top sitting in between that particular group of people?…Sitting two seats behind Paul Kagame and having the opportunity to rub elbows with him backstage after the premiere. He’s not only the current President of an African nation, but he’s also a man who’s often compared to Nelson Mandela for his efforts to heal his genocide-torn country.
Hearing Paul Kagame speak and having the opportunity to talk with survivor Jean-Pierre Sagahutu, who lost his entire family to Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, are two experiences I’ll never forget, and ‘EARTH MADE OF GLASS‘ made an equally strong impression on me.

Yahoo Movies Picks Channing Tatum’s ‘Dear John’ for BEST KISS
July 23, 2010
Yahoo Movies took a look at some of the best movies of the year so far, and they have picked Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried’s rain-soaked lip lock in ‘Dear John‘ as the winner in their “Best Kiss” category.
If you’ve seen it, then I’m sure you understand why. Here’s what Yahoo had to say about why Chan and Amanda’s kiss is the clear winner…
“…the first kiss shared by stars Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum, who portray Savannah and John, a college student and a young Army sergeant who fall madly in love with one another over spring break. A few days before John returns to base and deploys for the Middle East, he and Savannah realize that they’re meant to be together once he visits her at her volunteer worksite. When the sky opens and heavy rains begin to soak them, they seek shelter in each other’s arms, and before you know it, they’re entangled in a passionate embrace and share one of Hollywood’s most romantic kisses.”
Fans didn’t get a vote in Yahoo’s contest, BUT you do get to vote every day through August 6th for Chan and Amanda for this year’s Teen Choice Awards.
