The sequel (’G.I. JOE 2: RETALIATION‘) will debut a new TV spot during Super Bowl XLVI on February 5th, but the night before ‘G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA‘ will make its network television premiere on USA February 4th at 7:00PM Central (the same night that Chan will host Saturday Night Live)! RUMOR OR REEL?: New Name and Filming Location for the Sequel to Channing Tatum’s ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra’

Recently, Paramount announced an official release date for the sequel to Channing Tatum’s $302 million grossing action film ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘.
Now, rumors are floating around about a possible name and potential filming location for the highly-anticipated movie…
If you’ll recall, ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ filmed all over the world…California, Czech Republic, France, and more. NOLA.com is not only reporting that the film’s sequel will be called ‘G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes‘, but that it will also possibly shoot in Baton Rouge from August 1st through late November (according to Louisiana’s office of film and video).
As many of you know, Chan is currently working on his comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ in New Orleans (about 90 minutes from Baton Rouge) through June, so filming for ‘G.I. Joe 2‘ could extend his stay in the Bayou State.
Jon Chu (’Step Up 2‘, ‘Step Up 3D‘, ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’), who’s directing the sequel, recently told Box Office Magazine…
“There’s something about G.I. Joe that has history, that has a soul…very few brands have a soul. Like the Boy Scouts have something to do with America, even Mickey Mouse, even Apple has a soul to it. And Joe has a soul. And I’ve never felt like I’ve had a movie of Joe of where I can taste my childhood right there.”
In his interview, Jon also mentions that the script (written by “Zombieland” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) “is really good”, and they are working to “build in a few more things that will make it even better”.
In his pursuit to create a film with a “grittiness” and a “new attitude”, he let Box Office Magazine know that he would love to take it to the next level in 3D, but the final decision has not been made yet.
The production is currently in the beginning of the film making process…picking and designing characters and the worlds they will live in. Jon is also forming his production team and in true Jon style wants the fans to help decide what characters make it onto the screen.

The last time Channing Tatum appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live was in April of 2009. It was his first nighttime talk show appearance ever, he was promoting his film ‘Fighting‘, and the show took over LA’s Hollywood & Vine Intersection with an exclusive live outdoor performance by Depeche Mode…
Next TUESDAY (JANUARY 11, 2011) Chan is going to once again be the lead guest on the show, but this time he’ll be promoting his upcoming comedy ‘The Dilemma‘ and will appear with his ‘Stop-Loss‘ cast mate Mamie Gummer.
I can also confirm that Chan will attend the world premiere of the comedy, which stars Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder, and Queen Latifah. The red carpet event will be held at the AMC River East Theater at 322 East Illinois Street in Chicago, Illinois on this THURSDAY, JANUARY 6th, 2011 at 6pm.
‘The Dilemma‘ is an all-star production from director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer. It’s about a man who finds out that what you don’t say to a friend is just as important as what you do. Fans can watch the new “Try Again” and “Red Zone” TV spots for the film below…
Make sure you go see Chan, fake tattoos and all, in ‘The Dilemma‘ when it hits US theaters on January 14, 2011 and UK theaters on January 21, 2011.

IN THE PRESS: People Magazine’s 2010 Sexiest Man Alive… Who Could Be Next?

People Magazine will announce their 2010 Sexiest Man Alive in next week’s issue. In the mean time, they’re matching up previous winners with their “Sexy-In-Grooming” contemporaries. As you can see above, People has paired Channing Tatum with 1991’s Sexiest Man Patrick Swayze, and here’s what they had to say about the dueling and extremely likeable dancer-turned-actors…
Described as “both a woman’s fantasy and a man’s man,” the late Patrick Swayze became an overnight heartthrob after starring in Dirty Dancing and Ghost. Twenty years later, Channing Tatum has parlayed his role in Step Up into a full Hollywood dance card, with action movies (G.I. Joe) and romantic dramas (Dear John).
This isn’t the first time that Chan has been compared to the legend that is Patrick Swayze. Long time CTU readers may recall last year’s ‘Dirty Dancing’ spoof…
In case you missed it (or need a good laugh and want to watch it again…and again), check out Chan in full-on Swayze mode as he shows off his comedic chops with Knocked Up’s Charlyne Yi in Cinemash’s ‘Dirty Dancing’ parody. In today’s Videos of the Week we have Channing Tatum’s acceptance speech at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards where he came down with an acute case of Bieber Fever while winning a surfboard for Choice Movie Actor: Action Adventure for his role in ‘G.I. Channing Tatum Wins Another Surfboard at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards

The 2010 Teen Choice Awards will once again celebrate the hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports and fashion in a star-studded two-hour event that will air TONIGHT, Aug. 9 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Channing Tatum (who was nominated for 3 awards) and Jenna Dewan-Tatum (in Brian Atwood black suede “Marlo” pumps and an Alice + Olivia box pleat leather skirt) walked the awards show’s blue carpet yesterday.
Fans can check out two personal pics they took before and during the event and tons of new photos of their arrival and of Chan accepting his award for Choice Movie Actor: Action/Adventure for ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘. Enjoy!!!
