In today’s Videos of the Week, we have a new interview that ‘Step Up‘ gals Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Briana Evigan, and Sharni Vinson (who you see in the above photo taken by director Jon M. Chu with Channing Tatum in the background) did backstage with Chris Trondsen of Pacific Rim Video at the Dizzy Feet Foundation charity gala. Nichelle Thrower of the dance crew We Are Heroes also joins in the conversation before the girls go onstage at the Koday Theater in Hollywood to perform this past Sunday. When Jenna started her career as a professional dancer, she worked for various famous performers such as ‘N Sync, Diddy (or whatever he’s calling himself these days), Toni Braxton, Celine Dion, Pink, Missy Elliott, Ricky Martin, and Janet Jackson, just to name a few. NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum Headed for the Streets of New York for ‘Son of No One’

I recently reported that Channing Tatum will be starring in the crime thriller ‘Son of No One‘ (set to be released in 2011), his latest drama with writer/director Dito Montiel, and now I have a few more details on the who, what, when, and where for the film production.
The estimated $20 million actioneer is in the pre-production phase and principal photography (aka filming) is currently scheduled to start on February 2, 2010 (right around the time Chan will be wrapping up promotions for his movie ‘Dear John‘).
In addition to filming on location in New York City (which I totally pegged as a potential location in my last post about the film), the production will reportedly be making some stops in Detroit, Michigan and Toronto, Ontario in Canada.
It’s an understatement to say that Dito Montiel is drawn to New York City much like ducks are drawn to water. After filming both ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints’ and ‘Fighting‘ in New York, it’s clear that the city he grew up in seems to be his favorite directorial playground. From the South Bronx to Queens to Canal Street and more, fans can check out the beauty that is New York through Dito’s eyes in the CTU Photo Gallery.
‘Son of No One‘ is about a young cop named Jonathan White (played Channing Tatum) who is assigned to a precinct in the working class neighborhood where he grew up, and an old secret threatens to destroy his life and his family.
The cast is definitely shaping up for this one…Chan will be joined by his ‘Fighting‘ co-star and Oscar nominee Terrence Howard (Vinny), James Gandolfini (Sergeant Mathers) and the incomparable Robert De Niro (Detective Stanford).
Sadly, it’ll be a while before we can see Chan in this new film, but fans in the UK can watch him in his 2008 drama ‘Stop-Loss‘ on Sky Screen 2 at 5:25 PM on November 20th and Sky Movies Drama at 11:00 PM on December 10th. Fans in the US can also watch Chan’s movie ‘Havoc’ on IFC at 7:00 PM Central on November 21st and 1:30 AM Central on November 22nd.

CTU EXCLUSIVE: Enter to Win a ‘Step Up 3D’ Crew Cap!!!

As far as I know (although I keep hoping they’ll surprise us), neither Channing Tatum nor Jenna Dewan are in the third installment of the extremely popular ‘Step Up‘ franchise they started in 2006. Regardless, I’ll be one of the first in line with glasses in hand to see ‘Step Up 3D‘ when it hits theaters next August.
‘Step Up 3D‘ takes the dance battling global; The story follows a passionate, tight-knit group of street dancers (featuring Rick Malambri and Sharni Vinson with the returning actors Adam G. Sevani and Alyson Stoner) who find themselves pitted against the world’s best breakdancers in a high-stakes showdown.

DEAL OF THE DAY: Watch Channing Tatum’s ‘Battle in Seattle’ for FREE

In today’s Deal of the Day, I wanted to let you all know about a free theatrical screening for Channing Tatum’s political drama ‘Battle in Seattle‘. The movie will be shown at the 2nd Annual Lowell Film Festival in Lowell, Massachusetts, which is about 40 minutes outside of Boston.
As far as the festival is concerned, it’s focus is to help people learn more about food, fair trade and the global economy. The Boston Globe says, “It’s an unusual hybrid for a film festival, part arts event, part bazaar, part social justice rally. Nonfilm events include a market featuring businesses embracing fair trade practices; and guest speakers on such topics as sustainable farming and garment production.”
In addition to ‘Battle in Seattle‘, there will be 9 other feature length films and documentaries and a few film shorts, and the festival runs from Friday, April 3 – Sunday, April 5.
‘Battle in Seattle‘ is the headline film on Saturday night, and it will be shown from 8PM – 9:30PM in Room 222 at the University of Massachusetts’ Lowell O’Leary Library on 61 Wilder Street.
Seats are limited for the Friday and Saturday night films, so you should reserve your seat now by sending and email to SCromwell@lowellma.gov. Please be sure to include the name of the film in your request.

Since you all so graciously shared your battles, it’s only fair that I do the same…
Because of people close to me (CTU Webmaster Q) that have been or are currently affected, I choose to fight for a cure for Juvenile Diabetes and cancers of any kind, and I hope that a cure comes sooner rather than later for everyone that battles these diseases.
I also want to let you all know about a battle that Channing Tatum’s 2009 Biggest Fan, Brandi, and her family fight every day. Brandi has a child who has been diagnosed with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy called Limb Girdle.
It’s a progressive disease with no cure or treatment other then physical therapy. Her son’s name is Tristan, and he’s been chosen as the Good Will Ambassador for a local Muscular Dystrophy Association Ride For Life bike run in their town.
If you would like to join Tristan and his family in their battle, you can go his official MDA site to learn more about the ride and/or help him meet and hopefully exceed his team’s goal. Every dollar they raise will go to help a child fight this disease in hopes that someday maybe there will be a cure, or at the very least a treatment, for Tristan and everyone battling the debilitating disease.
Thanks again for all of your entries, and I wish everyone luck in fighting your battles, whatever they may be.
