33&OUT NEWS: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum Join Forces Again in ‘Ten Year’

August 26, 2010

The production list for Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s production company 33&Out continues to grow and grow on a weekly basis. In the past few months, they released their first film (the political documentary ‘Earth Made of Glass‘) and announced they will also produce the sci-fi film ‘Ion‘ and the drama ‘The Contortionist’s Handbook‘ with partner Reid Carolin.

I’ve been told that they have a ton of other films and film shorts in the works too (including some new projects for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s HitRecord.org), but you can add one more named project to that list…THR is confirming a project I reported on in June. Chan and Jenna are set to produce and star in their first film together since ‘Step Up‘, and it’s a high school reunion film called ‘Ten Year‘.

Chan, Jenna, and Reid will be heavily involved in the development process and are working with Jamie Linden (who wrote the ‘Dear John‘ screenplay) and producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill on the film, which is an ensemble drama about friends reuniting a decade after their graduation. Jamie will be wearing both the writer and director hats for this production.

Although the script is being written with specific actors in mind (including both Chan and Jenna), there are no deals in place for the actors and their involvement will depend on availability. The indie production also is currently assembling financing, but THR reports that the filmmakers are hoping to begin shooting in November, after Chan wraps on his romantic drama ‘The Vow‘.

Jenna tweeted the behind-the-scenes pics above when she and Chan filmed a short related to ‘Ten Year‘ this past June. The shoot included friends and fellow actors Haylie Duff, Nick Zano, ‘The Hurt Locker’s Brian Geraghty (Jenna’s ‘Love Lies Bleeding‘ co-star), and Kate Mara.

Jamie told me today that the film short they worked on was…

“…really just for fun and is an exercise in tone and style [for ‘Ten Year’]…It’s really only tangentially related to the project — the actual movie would be much more of an ensemble, and most of these scenes [in the short] aren’t even in the script.”

Jamie graciously allowed me to watch the ‘Ten Year‘ short today, and I LOVED it!!! In ten minutes, it made me both laugh and cry. More importantly, it was beyond amazing to see Chan, Jenna, and their undeniable chemistry on screen together again.

CONGRATS to Chan, Jenna, Reid, and Jamie on the new film!!! I can’t wait to bring you guys more behind-the-scenes info and to see the finished product!! :-D

“There is no den in the wide world to hide a rogue. Commit a crime, and the EARTH is MADE OF GLASS.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Exciting news!!! ‘Earth Made of Glass‘, a political documentary that’s produced by Channing Tatum, wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Reid Carolin under their production company 33&Out, will have and Oscar-qualifying run in theaters in New York City and Los Angeles starting this weekend.

The moving film, which has been endorsed by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, follows Rwandan President Paul Kagame and genocide survivor Jean-Pierre Sagahutu and had a standing room only premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City this past April.

Three months later, his closest aide, Rose Kabuye, was arrested by France on charges of terrorism. Meanwhile, a genocide survivor haunted by his father’s unsolved murder scours the Rwandan countryside on a 15-year search for clues. Despite having never met, the story of a President and an ordinary citizen become inextricably linked in this extraordinary documentary.

EARTH MADE OF GLASS‘ is directed by Deborah Scranton. She also directed ‘The War Tapes’ (short-listed for the Oscar in 2007), which influenced how they made Chan’s 2008 Iraq war drama ‘Stop-Loss‘.

HAPPY “OFFICIAL” 3RD ANNIVERSARY TO CTU!!!

August 16, 2010

It’s been three years since I received a very special message from Channing Tatum asking me if CTU could be his official site. Three years, three premieres, two press junkets, two set visits, a Teen Choice Award nomination, an Italian Vogue photo credit, a President, millions of page views, and a lot of hard work later, this site is still standing, stronger than ever, and makes me feel like I’m officially one of the luckiest people in the world on a daily basis.

I like anniversaries, because they allow you to take a look back and see where you were versus where you are now. What I’ve figured out is that I have this ongoing love affair with CTU, and there’s no place I’d rather be than here. I truly appreciate every bit of the magic it brings into my life, and I look forward to being a part of this site, Post the Love, and anything else that comes my way for many years to come.

Strip away all of the celebrity from Chan and Jenna and you’ll find two of the most genuine, hardworking, and loving people you’ve ever known. In addition to opening their life to me and my family, they changed my perspective on the world and allowed me to see first hand that anything truly is possible. For that and for allowing me to do what I love, I will forever be a grateful friend and their BIGGEST fan.

Thank you to Chan, Jenna, and their families for everything they’ve done to help this site flourish and thank you to each and every one of you for supporting CTU and for joining me on this amazing journey. Sending a very grateful HUGS to you all!!!

Watch Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s ‘Earth Made of Glass’ at Dartmouth Tomorrow

August 12, 2010

Earlier this year, Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum joined forces with friend and fellow producer Reid Carolin to executive produce their first film via their production company 33&Out. That film is a moving political documentary called ‘EARTH MADE OF GLASS‘, and the well received doc, which follows Rwandan President Paul Kagame and genocide survivor Jean-Pierre Sagahutu, had a standing room only premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City this past April.

I was lucky enough to attend the premiere with Chan, Jenna, Reid, and their good friends Nick Zano, Haylie Duff, and Jamie Linden (the screenwriter for ‘Dear John‘).

What could top sitting in between that particular group of people?…Sitting two seats behind Paul Kagame and having the opportunity to rub elbows with him backstage after the premiere. He’s not only the current President of an African nation, but he’s also a man who’s often compared to Nelson Mandela for his efforts to heal his genocide-torn country.

Hearing Paul Kagame speak and having the opportunity to talk with survivor Jean-Pierre Sagahutu, who lost his entire family to Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, are two experiences I’ll never forget, and ‘EARTH MADE OF GLASS‘ made an equally strong impression on me.

On August 6th, 2008, against the backdrop of the world’s deadliest war in neighboring Eastern Congo, Rwandan President Paul Kagame released a report detailing the French government’s hidden role in planning the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

EARTH MADE OF GLASS‘ a beautiful film and those of you in the Dartmouth area will have a chance to watch it at Dartmouth’s Hopkins Center for the Arts in Hanover, New Hampshire at 7:30pm tomorrow (August 13th). The film is the latest work from New Hampshire director Deborah Scranton, who I also had the pleasure of meeting when I was in New York, and people attending the screening will have an opportunity to participate in a discussion with her after the screening.

You can CLICK HERE to see more red carpet and behind-the-scenes photos from the premiere, and you can also watch the film’s trailer below…
