Does Channing Tatum play Ghengis Khan in ‘Mongol‘?

CTU Answer:

As you can see in the promotional still on the right, Channing was originally cast in the role of Ghengis Khan in the movie ‘Mongol‘, but he ended up declining the role because of scheduling conflicts (possibly with his 2006 hit movie ‘Step Up‘). Many websites still say that Channing Tatum is in the film, but they are incorrect. The role of Ghengis Khan in ‘Mongol‘ is now being played by Tadanobu Asano.

What is Channing Tatum’s favorite music?

CTU Answer:
Channing Tatum likes all kinds of music, but when I visited him on the set of his film ‘Fighting‘ last year, he mentioned that he had recently heard some new music created by his Oscar-nominated co-star Terrence Howard and really liked it.

Terrence wrote, produced and performs all of the new music on his debut album called ‘Shine Through It’. It is being released by Columbia Records on September 2, 2008 and fans can listen to some of it in a video below that he recently made for MySpace:

How can I send Jenna Dewan fan mail? Does she have an official site or MySpace page?

CTU Answer:

Channing Tatum’s girlfriend Jenna Dewan has confirmed to me that she currently does not have an official site and does not have a MySpace page at all. As a matter of a fact, she does not have a profile on any of the social networking sites.

Anyone on MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, Friendster, etc. saying that they are Jenna are definitely posers, have no association with her, and should not be believed. Jenna is grateful for all of the non-posing fan sites that you all have created for her, so keep up the good work!!!

Can I buy the M&M Cru shirts from the online dance battle?

CTU Answer:

I have confirmed with the director of the M&M Cru dance battle videos that they are currently not able to sell shirts for complicated legal reasons around selling Miley Cyrus merchandise. They are hopeful that they will be able to sell shirts to fans at some point to benefit a charity like the ACDC crew is doing with Invisible Children, but they are still working on that arrangement.

Anyone selling M&M Cru shirts has not been given permission to do so and the shirts are not official. Feel free to buy them if you see them for sale online, but know that they are not actually associated with the M&M Cru that includes both Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan as members.

In Channing’s movie ‘Stop-Loss‘, why are the patches on the uniforms and tattoos of the flag backwards?

CTU Answer

To wear our country’s flag properly, the field of stars is supposed to be worn closest to your heart. When worn on the sleeve of a military uniform, the flag should appear to be advancing and not retreating.

If your patch or tattoo is to be worn on your LEFT sleeve, you should use a left flag (which is what most of us are used to seeing). For patches or tattoos worn on your RIGHT sleeve, you should use a “right” or “reversed field” flag. Channing’s tattoo is on his right arm in ‘Stop-Loss‘, so he was given a right flag.

Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Question #2

I just wondered if you could please tell me what jacket this is. It’s worn by Channing Tatum while playing Tyler Gage in ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘. Please could you try and find out the make and name of this jacket please?

CTU Answer

I could not get all of the details on this one, but thanks to the film’s director and his costume designer we at least now know a little more about the sweatshirt Channing is wearing in the club scene in ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘.

Director Jon M. Chu was nice enough to forward the question to the film’s costumer designer, and they said that Chan’s sweatshirt is made by Nike. So hopefully that info can at least give fans a starting point to track down the popular clothing item.

Can you find out about his workouts? I mean we all really appreciate his obvious assets, but how does he enhance those assets by working out?

CTU Answer:
Here’s what Will, Channing’s trainer from Billion Dollar Bodies, Inc., had to say about his training regimen for his most recent film ‘Fighting‘…

What type of workout routine did you recommend for Chan to help him prepare for his role in the film?

To maximize Chan’s results within the short time frame I was given to work with, our sessions basically consisted of a variety of high intensity circuit workouts. To keep his body from getting used to one particular routine, we did some weight training indoors as well as some bodyweight exercises outside at a local park. Now for those who are not familiar with circuit training, simply put, it’s stringing a number of exercises back to back with very little or even no rest in between. In my opinion, circuit training is the most effective method of exercise when it comes to changing body composition simply because it keeps the heart rate elevated throughout the duration of the workout and it enables your body to burn fat at a very high rate for an extended period of time after your workout it over.

Chan told me that he lost 30lbs with your workout and diet regimen. How quickly did he have to lose the weight?

When I was contacted to work with Chan, it was about 5 weeks prior to shooting. He got started on his nutrition plan immediately which helped him drop 5-10lbs, however we didn’t start working out until 2 weeks later. So basically Chan dropped an additional 20 lbs in only about 3 weeks of training! When preparing a client for an event I usually spend about 8 to 12 weeks with them, so I can definitely add this one to my list of last minute miracles ;).

What type of diet did you have Chan on to help him maintain his weight through out the 2 month film shoot?

Chan’s diet was by far the most important factor in his weight loss. I believe in allowing my clients to eat the things they enjoy, just modified versions which contain more protein and fiber with less fat and calories. I think going on crash diets and/or eating bland foods in the name of weight loss only sets you up for failure. I have an amazingly talented chef on my team who can take any food you like and create a healthier version that tastes just as good, so basically Chan was eating burgers, lasagna, french toast, etc., everything was just made with low fat, whole wheat, and organic ingredients. And plenty of veggies!

Although the number may seem a little unholy, I’m really happy with it, because it means I exceeded my goal of having at least one post every single day. I also feel really good about the amount of quality content I was able to to find and the fact that reader’s contributed to well-over 100 of those posts by submitting photos, videos, and information. I have a feeling that 2008 is going to exceed that number, because this past year Channing had 1 new movie and this year he has 4, so get ready fans!

I added the CTU CBox (aka chat box) to the site in May and have had 6 virtual parties with fans from every corner of the world. I truly can’t believe how much fans have used it to make friends, stay connected, and gossip about Channing, Jenna, and almost anything else you can imagine (literally). Believe it or not, the CBox averages over 1,100 posts a day, and I’m sure that number is just going to continue to grow.

Channing Tatum has tons of fans around the world and thankfully a lot of them found their way to CTU. Again, I know that number is going to be even bigger next year.

The CTU profile on MySpace has been viewed almost 75,000 times and currently averages around 30 new friends a day. You all have left over 1,400 comments and over 2,300 messages for Channing and I, all of which I definitely read. I know for sure that 2008 numbers are going to exceed that and I have to admit that I’m a little afraid.

Gallery Photos: 3,725
If you haven’t taken the time to look lately, the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Photo Gallery has grown from zero photos to over 3,700 photos in the past year. The gallery was accessed over 260,000 times and each of the photos were viewed over 1 MILLION times last year. You can CLICK HERE to learn how to view and download the photos that can be used as myspace graphics, screen savers, wallpapers, avators, icons, and so much more! I would also really like to thank fans that have submitted almost 200 graphics and art work and over 360 icons for the gallery.

Much like the gallery, the Channing Tatum Unwrapped YouTube Video Channel has grown by leaps and bounds this year thanks to fans letting me know about videos they like, thanks to CTU readers like Rialle who help me get the videos added to the channel and thanks to insiders like Casper Martinez who send me exclusive behind-the-scenes videos. The channel currently has 94 subscribers and 39 friends.

I added the CTU MP3 player to the site in July and fans seem to really like listening to songs from the ‘Step Up’,'Step Up 2: The Streets’, ‘The Trap’, ‘Stop-Loss’, and ‘She’s the Man’ soundtracks, and the talented new artist and my really good friend Rialle. As a side note, you can click here to view the video Rialle just created to thank CTU readers for all of the support you have given her this year.

One of the things I love to do on CTU is give away prizes to the readers. When I met Channing this past October he told me about his mom Kay’s philosophy on success. She says that success comes when preparation meets opportunity.

As I have said before, I didn’t plan most of the incredible things that have happened at CTU this year. I didn’t even know that a lot of what has happened was possible. If I had not actually experienced it, I probably would not even believe it myself. Which is why it’s pretty amazing to me that CTU has been one of the biggest successes in my life.

What will CTU look like in another 12 months?

Did Channing Tatum actually do all the dances in ‘Step Up’?

Yes Channing did all of his own dances in ‘Step Up‘ . He’s a naturally talented dancer that taught himself how to dance by attending coming-of-age parties in the Hispanic community called Quiceneras when he was growing up in Tampa, Florida. Although Channing did not receive formal dance training prior to ‘Step Up‘, he worked closely with highly-talented choreographers like Jamal Sims during the shoot to give us all of those memorable dance scenes that he is now so well-known for.

CTU Answer:
When I started this site in January, I was just a huge fan writing a fan blog about him, but sadly I did not know Channing. I’m now more than happy to say that I know him, because he asked for CTU to be his official site in August. I was finally able to meet him when he invited me to the New York set of his film ‘Fighting‘ in October. You can CLICK HERE to read all about my unforgettable day hanging out with Chan on set.

How do you find all of your information on Channing Tatum?
CTU Answer:
This was actually a question that even Chan asked me himself. It does take a bit of work to create at least one article everyday for the blog (especially on those weeks where news bites are few and far between), but my sources for information on Channing are not as mysterious as they seem. Although I am able to get some of my information from Chan’s mom and Chan himself, I really try not to bother them any more than I have to.

Search engines are actually my best friend here at CTU. By using tools like Google Alerts, I get a lot of my information from an endless amount of sites on the internet. The marketing companies promoting Chan’s movies like ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints‘, ‘Battle in Seattle‘, ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘, and ‘Stop-Loss‘ will also send me information. I get most of the behind-the-scenes and casting film news from users who post information on IMDB, sites where you can post casting calls, sites of actors that have worked with him and all types of blogs.

People might be surprised at the amount of information that is on the internet if you know how to search for it and weed through what’s real and what’s not, which can be difficult online. My ultimate goal is to gather and verify all of the information I find into one place here at CTU so all of you don’t have to work nearly as hard to learn about Chan and his projects. From the feedback I get from readers and even Chan himself, I feel like I may have succeeded at that goal.

Do you work for Channing Tatum?
CTU Answer:
Technically I don’t work for him, because I created and maintain this site on a voluntary basis. But if we had to put a name to what I do for Chan here at CTU each day, I would be called a new media or digital publicist.

All that means is that I use this site and social networking sites like MySpace, Facebook, and IMDB to help promote Chan and his projects and to help his fans better connect with him by answering their questions and keeping you all updated on what he’s doing. It’s actually a fairly new field in the entertainment industry that has surfaced because of the Web 2.0 (aka social networking site) revolution. Fans no longer just want to read about an actor, they want to also be able to interact with each other in communities full of people with the same interests.

But for the record, if ever asked, I would work for him in a heartbeat, because he’s one of the most talented, hard working, genuine and nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Much like doing this blog has been a dream, I can definitely say that working for, with, or around him in any capacity would be the same.

Channing Tatum has an uncredited part in ‘War of the Worlds’ where he plays a boy in the church scene. Everyone has trouble finding him in the film, because his part was edited out of the final cut.

‘Step Up‘ fans can breathe a sigh of relief, because Channing Tatum does have a cameo in ‘Step Up 2: The Streets‘ and we will once again get to see him in all of his dance glory on the big screen. Channing actually did not go to military school. It’s my understanding that he attended junior high school at Oak Grove and Ben Hill and attended highschool at both Gaither and Tampa Catholic in Tampa, Florida.

Channing Tatum’s movie Stop-Loss has been completed and Battle in Seattle is currently in post-production. They both are set to release in the November/December 2007 timeframe. Channing’s projects Stanford Prison Experiment and Push,
will be filmed this year and will release next year in 2008. His movies
Parkour and Dear John and are currently in development and are set to r
elease in 2009. As you can see, Channing has truly established himself in the film world and I am happy to say that we will get to see plenty of him in the coming years.

Nope. Channing Tatum is currently dating his gorgeous Step Up co-star, Jenna Dewan. There are unconfirmed rumors that he may have dated his She’s the Man co-star, Amanda Bynes, prior to dating Jenna Dewan…I stress UNCONFIRMED.

CTU Answer:
Channing Tatum did model in the February 2002 issue of Out Magazine (a popular gay magazine), but Channing’s appearance in this magazine was a paid modeling job and not a declaration of his sexuality.

Sadly, I have not been able to confirm that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan are engaged. Here is what I do know…I have read that they have been living together for a while now. The engagement rumors started when people began seeing the couple wearing what looked like engagement rings on their left ring fingers and you rarely see them anywhere without them on. I definitely hope that they are engaged. Chenna is my absolute favorite celebrity couple, and they seem to be perfect for each other.

Although I have read a lot of different things online, I have only been able to “confirm” that Channing has one older sister. I don’t know her age and I don’t know if she is a step sister or not.

CHANNING TATUM FOR DUMMIES: Where can I buy the DVD for Channing Tatum’s movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints?

I am starting to think it’s some kind of consipracy. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten this question since Channing’s movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints came out on DVD February 20th in the US. It’s almost like the movie company doesn’t want us to see it or something, because the normal stores (i.e. Target, Walmart) don’t have copies yet or ordered a small number of copies.

Even people in the major cities (i.e. Los Angeles - movie capital of the world) are having trouble finding it. I guess it wasn’t enough that the movie had a very limited theatrical release in the US. Now they are making it just as difficult to get the movie on DVD too. What kind of backwards logic is that? I thought the goal was to make it easier for people to see the movie, not harder.

I personally bought my copies of the movie from Amazon.com. So if you have not been able to find a copy in your local stores and are impatient like me, I suggest you try to buy online from any reputable store. In case you are still on the fence on whether you should get the movie or not, you should read the glowing review of AGTRYS at MoviewWeb.com by the popular Evan “Mushy” Jacobs and then make your decision.

I have also had CTU readers from Canada and Australia ask me when or if the movie will premiere in those countries. I have heard a rumor that there is a Canadian release March 6th, but I have not gotten any information that can confirm that date. Canadians can actually buy the DVD on Amazon (Canada). Studios don’t normally have theatrical releases after a DVD releases, so Canadians may have to buy the DVD to see the movie.

Australia had a limited release in November of 2006, so I will need to see when the DVD will release there. Currently, the DVD has only been released in the US, US Territories and Canada regions. I will let you know if I am able to get any definitive answers.

The only two other theatrical release dates that I know right now are the UK and Ireland on March 2nd and Italy on March 9th. If any CTU readers have information about release dates in Canada or Australia (or any country for that matter), please leave a comment here or send me an email to answers@channingtatumunwrapped.com.

You will need a Facebook.com account to access the group, but it is easy to setup.

• Dew Me Channing Group - This is one of the largest and oldest Channing Tatum groups online. You can connect with other Channing fans and this group also has a really large photo gallery and link directory. The coolest part is that the person who run’s it has actually met Channing. Channing was extremely excited to meet her, very grateful for all of her support, and as she says, even more handsome in person than any picture we may have ever seen. CHANNING TATUM FOR DUMMIES: Are Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan still dating?

I am sure that anyone who has seen Step Up remembers the sexy shipyard seen with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan rehearsing her dream vision of her senior dance performance. It was my favorite seen in the movie and you could swim in the chemistry between characters Tyler and Nora. Click here to see the hot movie clip.

Channing Tatum’s relationship status is one of the questions that I definitely get the most often. This week’s question is not about the make-believe relationship of Tyler and Nora. It’s about the real-life relationship of Channing and Jenna.

The talented couple was been seen together as late as last month, but there have been unconfirmable rumors of a breakup. I really think that they are still together, but the truth of the matter is that only Channing and Jenna know for sure. My hope is that we will be able to see Channing with Jenna soon at the 2007 Independent Spirit Awards, the DVD release party for A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints and/or the European premiere of A Guide to Recognizing your Saints and maybe that will answer the question for us.

Personally, I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed that they ARE still dating, because I think they seem to make a really good couple.

CHANNING TATUM FOR DUMMIES: How can I (legally) buy Channing Tatum?

Have you ever looked at Channing Tatum and said “I’d like a piece of that!”. Well, here’s your chance…There’s this web site I found called the Hollywood Stock Exchange that actually let’s you buy pieces (aka shares) of Channing Tatum (and many other stars) as if you are buying stock in a company.

Personally, my eyes glaze over when people start talking about the real stock market, but I have to say that the prospect of being able to buy a little of the American Dream (aka Channing Tatum) peaked my interest. I have absolutely no association with this site, but I decided to share my findings with you all.

I always hear in the media about a star’s “stock” rising or falling based on their last successful movie or show or their last embarrassing club appearance getting out of a car without their undies. Well this site takes that concept to the next level. The Hollywood Stock Exchange is a lot like the real stock market (but don’t hold that against them).

You can buy shares of your favorite actors and their movies. You then watch the actor’s stock value (aka what they are worth) rise and fall based on their success. You see the star’s prices sore if their movie has a big opening at the box office or go through the floor if no one sees their movie. They even give people research tools to help you make the best buy. If you get nothing else out of this, the tools they provide are great sources of information for the celebrity watcher.

So what does all of this mean to the average fan? Well when you create a free account, they give you virtual money. Then you get to buy stock in popular actors and movies. You can buys stars like Johnny Dep, Angelina Jolie, Ben Affleck, etc. etc.. I of course bought as much of Channing (Stock Symbol: CTATU) as I could afford with my free virtual money, because in a crazy way, it made me feel a little closer to him. Then as his stock rises or falls, my net worth rises or falls. (Have I lost you yet?)

Other then getting to say that you own a piece of uber hottie Channing Tatum, you are probably wondering why would any sane person do this. Well once you earn enough, you get to use your money to order “free” stuff from the site. Nothing is truly free, because you do pay shipping and handling. If you are really in need of another t-shirt, mug or hat, this may be an attractive incentive to you.

So if you want to be able to brag to your friends that you own Channing Tatum (and not be a liar), you may want to take a little trip to the Hollywood Stock Exchange. If you try to get a piece of him ANY other way, you may be taking a little trip to jail. Between you, me and my attorney, I think this site is probably a safer choice. (just joking…sort of)
