Attend a Private ‘Dear John’ Screening with Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried

When Channing Tatum’s romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ hit US and Canadian theaters, it reached #1 at the box office by making over $30 million opening weekend and achieved the enviable title of “First Movie to Beat Avatar”.
The movie will be released in the UK soon, and just like January and February’s US/Canadian press tour (click here to check out photos), Chan will also do a UK press tour to promote the April 14th release of ‘Dear John‘, as I mentioned in my last post.
I want to let UK fans know that Chan and his ‘Dear John‘ co-star Amanda Seyfried will be attending an exclusive, special screening of the movie and will participate in a fan Question and Answer session on March 30th at 6:15pm at a central London venue.

RUMOR OR REEL?: ‘Captain America’ Casting and ‘Dear John’ DVD Release

Busy is an understatement when it comes to Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum.
He just wrapped filming on the Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 action-revenge spy thriller ‘Knockout‘ in Arizona and will soon head across the pond to do a short press tour in the UK for ‘Dear John‘ before he does some additional work on his Roman drama ‘Eagle of the Ninth‘ and starts filming Dito Montiel’s ‘Son of No One‘ in April. Just thinking about all that makes me tired.
As Jenna (who’ll start filming her next project and kick off her PETA campaign in the next few weeks) just tweeted on her recently verified Twitter account, she and Chan just returned home after a short vacation, and while the newlyweds are away, the entertainment bloggers and reporters will play…
Deadline Hollywood, Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, and tons of other news outlets are reporting that Marvel is now interested in Chan for the highly sought-after role of Captain America. Here’s what Nikke Finke over at Deadline Hollywood had to say about the rumor…
“While Marvel Studios and director Joe Johnston continue to test candidates for The First Avenger: Captain America, I’m told that Marvel has also made an approach to Channing Tatum. Coming off G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra and Dear John, I would be surprised if he went in to test for the role., now that he’s become a bankable commodity. It’ll come down to Marvel making an offer, and Tatum either accepting it or rejecting it. But he is definitely in the mix, along with other confirmed candidates that include Fantastic Four’s Chris Evans, Cloverfield’s Mike Vogel and Tron Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund, and Generation Kill’s Wilson Bethel. Reports have Ryan Phillippe also vying for the job….Marvel Studios is also testing leads for the female role of Peggy. While Marvel is looking for an American actor to play Captain America, the candidates for the female lead are British. So far, Keira Knightley, Alice Eve and Emily Blunt are under consideration. Blunt is known to be a favorite of Marvel brass She was offered the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, until Fox exercised an option it held on the actress and put her into Gulliver’s Travels. Scarlett Johansson took the role.”
Sources tell Entertainment Weekly that Captain America is set to begin filming in June for a release next summer, will be shot on location in London, and will feature a stylized 1940s WWII backdrop where the super hero battles Red Skull, Hitler’s right-hand man.
Marvel also plans on releasing an Avengers film in summer 2012 and Captain America is a father figure to the rest of the Avengers, which means Marvel is actually casting this role for at least two different films.
If this rumor is true, fans don’t have to wonder if Chan wants to play Captain America or not. Here’s what he told MTV last year when news first broke that he was a potential candidate for the role…
“I would love to play Captain America. I actually really, really would love it. I love Captain America. I’m not a big aficionado on him, but I know who we was, and I like him as a character.”
Marvel will be casting Captain America soon, so I’ll definitely let you know what happens with this one!
One thing I CAN confirm is that Chan’s highly-successful romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ will be released on DVD and Blu-ray

NEW FLASH: Channing Tatum’s New Film Short to Premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival

As I previously posted, Channing Tatum decided to flex his comedic chops in HitRECord.org’s most recent collaboration, aka ‘Morgan & Destiny’s Eleventeeth Date: The Zeppelin Zoo‘.
The film short is a sequel to the site’s ‘Morgan M. Morganson’s Date with Destiny‘. It was written by Metaphorest, and stars Chan, Lexy Hulme (aka Lula) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Lionel, Destiny, and Morgan.
For those who don’t know, HitRECord.org was started by Chan’s longtime friend Joseph Gordon-Levitt and is a place where artists and filmmakers can post their work and then collaborate with a community of users who can contribute to the work by adding their own tweaks.
I recently posted the “white walls” version of the film short, and the HitRECord.org community has been collaborating fast and furiously to create the film’s remaining special effects (e.g. art work, visuals, animation, music, etc.) so it can have it’s official premiere at the annual South by Southwest (SXSW) film festival later this week.
Although community members are still working on the soundtrack and other finishing touches for the short, you can watch the latest version of ‘Morgan & Destiny’s Eleventeeth Date: The Zeppelin Zoo‘ which includes gorgeous graphics and visuals created by resident HitRECord.org pro Lawrie Brewster…

Last week Jenna Dewan-Tatum attended TheWrap.com’s 2010 Awards Season Nominee Celebration at the new Four Seasons Hotel Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills, California wearing one of her favorite design houses.
In Alice + Olivia’s popular Wrapped Goddess dress and jewelry from Energy Muse, Jenna has won, not one, not two, but THREE different fashion face-offs voted on by US Weekly, People, and Hollywood Life readers.

After attending numerous different pre-oscar bashes, Jenna headed on over to Santa Fe, New Mexico to visit husband Channing Tatum as he films Steven Soderbergh’s action-revenge spy thriller ‘Knockout‘. She tweeted out the pic below to show everyone the beautiful new vintage native American earrings she found in the area and then she tweeted…
- “Watching Steven Soderbergh on set is beyond…a real genius of his craft. and nice and humble. love it.”
After Chan finishes filming ‘Knockout‘ (which will most likely be released sometime in 2011), he’ll head back to the streets of New York to film Dito Montiel’s ‘Son of No One‘ in late March or April.

NEWS FLASH: Jenna Dewan-Tatum Becomes a StarDoll Superstar

While Channing Tatum wraps up filming on his latest project (which is why he could not attend/present at this year’s Oscars), wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum joined Academy Award® nominees, presenters, and some of the most well-known film stars in the world for the sold-out eighth annual “Night Before” party to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF).
It’s the hottest pre-Academy Awards ticket and money raised at the event supports the extensive programs and services (residential retirement community and child-care center, health care, human services, financial assistance) that the MPTF provides to more than 60,000 members of the entertainment industry every year.
Hosted by MPTF chair Jeffrey Katzenberg, the event serves as the largest money-raiser for the fund, and was once again held at the historic Beverly Hills Hotel, where a huge crowd of celebrities and entertainment industry executives came out to support the MPTF.
Attendees received gifts from sponsors like Hewlett Packard, Target and L’Oreal which included products from L’Oreal, Lancome, and Kiehl’s, bowties and cummerbunds for the men, and dresses, bodysuits, and scarves for the women courtesy of Target’s guest designer Zac Posen.
Jenna was able to rubs elbows with host committee members like George Clooney, Sean Penn, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes and Oscar nominee guests like Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock. Before and after the event she tweeted…

Jenna Dewan Really Cooking with Husband Channing Tatum

Newlywed Jenna Dewan says that while her life with Channing Tatum has “just gotten better” since they tied the knot last July, she admits she’s still making progress on one spousal ambition.
“I’ve been trying really hard to be more domesticated,” Dewan told PEOPLE during TheWrap.com’s awards season party. “It’s not in my nature to clean and cook, and so I’ve been really good about it. And we just actually had professional organizers that came to our house and did a whole bunch of organizing, which was the best thing that I could’ve done for the New Year, ever!
“And I’ve been learning to cook so I’m very excited about that!”
After seven months of marriage, Dewan says her relationship with her husband continues to hit new heights. “It’s literally just gotten better,” said the former Melrose Place actress, 29. “I know that I’m in that weird minority of people that say it got better, but it really did. We got married and it got a ton better!”
As she settles down, Dewan also recently took a walk on the wilder side, having just posed for a PETA photo shoot in full snakeskin body paint.
“It was amazing, but it was five hours standing up without sitting down, painting my entire body like a snake,” said Dewan. “They said, ‘It comes off in water. ‘ “
She laughed as she pointed out a smudge of paint still clinging to her calf. “Let me tell you that it does not come off in water!”

Before it’s official opening, Jenna Dewan-Tatum got an opportunity to shop at The Gap’s new 1969 Jeans store on Robertson Boulevard in L.A. on Wednesday before she shot her PETA campaign on Thursday.
Jenna has been working extremely hard to get ready for her shoot. From eating healthy and depriving herself of some of her favorite dishes (anything in the Mexican food category) to working out with top celeb trainer Tracy Anderson to losing sleep as she dreamed about working out, she did everything she could to make sure she was ready for Thursday’s shoot. After which, she tweeted…

“Just finished the @peta ad! Had so much fun, can’t WAIT for u guys to see! A sexy steamy ad to bring awareness to the abuse of exotic animals…please think before u buy snake, python, alligator purses/shoes!!”
What made Jenna want to star in the campaign? PETA tells me that she was moved by THIS exotic skins investigation. I do want to warn you, because it’s a tough video to watch.
As I mentioned before, Jenna also participated in a little retail therapy at The Gap’s new 1969 Jeans store on Robertson Boulevard on Wednesday (along with other celebs like Kate Beckinsale, Eva Longoria, Rebecca Romijn, Jerry O’Connell, Debra Messing, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Selma Blair). VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: ‘Dear John’ Press Tour and ‘Step Up’ Favorites

Most of today’s Videos of the Week are related to Channing Tatum’s highly successful new movie ‘Dear John‘, which released in the US, Canada, and a few other countries on February 5th, just released in South Africa today, and has a sneak preview in Indonesia this weekend before it’s official February 25th debut in that country.
We also have a video that was submitted by Fabulous Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum fan Trecia T., and it’s an oldie, but goodie, from their ‘Step Up’ days. Enjoy!
First up, we have what is hands downs my #1 favorite interview that Chan and co-star Amanda Seyfried did during the ‘Dear John’ press tour.
It was done on the Toronto leg of the tour, and you may recognize interviewer Jessi Cruickshank from “The Hills”, “The City”, and “Laguna Beach” after shows on MTV. I’ve learned that you can always count on Jessi for a laugh, and this interview was no different…
One of the questions I see most often from fans is “What is that song in the ‘Dear John’ trailer?”. As most of you now know, the main song in the trailer is Snow Patrol’s “Set the Fire to the Third Bar” featuring Martha Wainwright. The film released a music video for the song with footage of Chan and Amanda from the movie. Fans can watch it below…
After Chan’s hilarious Chelsea Lately interview, he headed on over to Rogue for Jonesy’s Jukebox for a much more laid back interview with Steve Jones, the co-founder of the Sex Pistols (a popular 70’s rock group). - “I really like this video because well, for obvious reasons, both Channing and Jenna are in it! =D I still remember the first time I’ve ever watched this video. It was when “Step Up” was released back in 06′ and was making a huge splash on Asian shores. Then, one day, while I was flipping through some channels on TV, and I saw this video. I didn’t know who Chan and Jen were back then, and I remember thinking, “oh, who’s that cute guy in the video? And both of them can really dance!”…I almost gave “Step Up” a pass but this video made me change my mind! What with the black outfits and dancing in the rain, they make dancing so damn sexy! So, I watched the film and guess what? I totally fell head over heels in love with it. RUMOR OR REEL?: Channing Tatum’s Oscar Buzz

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s longtime friend Adam Shankman (”So You Think You Can Dance” judge and producer of all the ‘Step Up’ films) is also producing this year’s Oscars with Bill Mechanic.
Industry news site Deadline Hollywood is throwing out some Oscar spoilers by reporting that there may be a larger focus on younger viewers this year in the telecast. Supposedly, the way they’re going to achieve that goal is to have up and comers like Chan, Taylor Lautner, and Zac Efron participate in the show.
At this point, this is purely a RUMOR, but Adam did confirm via Twitter that the show will be packed with SYTYCD favorites like “Travis, Ivan, Jaimie, Kayla, Ellenore, Russell, Jakob, Kathryn, Nick Lazzarini, Legacy, Channing, Lil C, Kupono & more”.
It’s a huge honor to be involved with the Oscars in any form or fashion, so if this rumor is true, it would be an awesome achievement for Chan. He’s currently overseas filming Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Knockout‘, but I’m definitely hoping this one pans out and his extremely busy schedule allows him to participate. The bottom line is, I can’t give you a definitive answer on this one yet, but I will definitely keep you posted.
