The hour-long drama is set during the political and moral upheaval of the 1960s and is centered around the voluptuous ladies of the original Chicago Playboy Club (which will make it’s comeback in Chi-town early next year).
“The Playboy Club” is planning on bringing in a series of stars to portray famous performers like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. from the 1960s in the period drama. The first guest singer booked was Colbie Caillat. She will play the famed vocalist Lesley Gore and will perform Gore’s classic song “It’s My Party” on the show.
TV Guide just reported that singer/songwriter Rafael Saadiq has been booked to portray a 1960′s version of legendary R&B musician Sam Cooke in the 4th episode, which will air in October. Rafael is scheduled to perform Cooke’s hit song “Having a Party”.
