Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum are as busy as ever right now. Chan is currently filming ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘ in Louisiana, and Jenna is filming her new show ‘The Playboy Club‘ in Chicago. The drama will premiere on NBC on September 19th!
Chan and Jenna’s film ‘Ten Year‘ will have it’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th, and in addition to starring in the film, Chan is also a producer on ‘Ten Year‘ via their production company 33andOut. After my set visit earlier this year, I’m so excited to see this film and to see the cast and crew again! It will also be my first time at TIFF, so it should be a really great experience to bring back to CTU!
Chan will begin filming ‘Magic Mike‘ in Los Angeles in mid Sepetmber, and five of his films are scheduled to hit the big screen between November 2011 and June 2012…’Son of No One‘ (November 4th), ‘Haywire‘ (January 20th), ‘The Vow‘ (February 10th), ‘21 Jump Street‘ (March 16th) and ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘ (June 29th).
While we wait for the “Year of the Tatum’s” to officially begin next month, fans can check out Chan and Jenna all over the press below…

CASTING NEWS: Matthew McConaughey and Matt Bomer Join Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer in Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Magic Mike’

I have to admit that there’s a whole lot of name dropping going on in the title of today’s post, but it’s for good reason…
As Channing Tatum films ‘G.I. Joe 2‘ in New Orleans, I have confirmed with the production team that casting is really shaping up on his next film ‘Magic Mike‘.
Earlier this week, Variety reported that Matthew McConaughey was going to join Chan and Alex Pettyfer in Steven Soderbergh’s indie drama ‘Magic Mike‘ and will play Dallas, a former exotic dancer who now owns and operates Xquisite, the club where “Magic Mike” (aka Chan) works.
I’ve known about Matthew McConaughey’s addition to the cast for a few months, so I’m happy I can finally post the info, but the casting of Matt Bomer, the star of the USA series “White Collar,” is definitely a new and welcome development on a film that already has a ton of buzz on pretty much every media outlet you can find.
A couple of days ago, Deadline Hollywood reported that Matt Bomer…
“Joined the ab-worthy cast of hunks who’ll play male strippers in Magic Mike, Steven Soderbergh’s next film. So far, Soderbergh has cast Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer and Matthew McConaughey. Magic Mike is a Saturday Night Fever-style coming of age story…Soderbergh has called the film “sexy, funny and shocking” using Saturday Night Fever as a model.”
As I previously reported, the film is a story of friendship set in the world of exotic male dancing and is inspired by (but not based on) Chan’s experiences early in his career. Chan is set to play the main character, who mentors a young dancer played by Alex Pettyfer (’I Am Number 4‘) and teaches him “how to hustle both on and off the stage”.
In addition to starring in the film, Chan will also be producing the movie with his 33andOut producing partner Reid Carolin (who’s also writing the script), Nick Wechsler, and Gregory Jacobs. Shooting on ‘Magic Mike‘ will start in mid September, and the movie will film in Los Angeles and will shoot exteriors in Tampa during principal production.
This one is definitely a hot topic in the entertainment media and is already on many people’s “films to watch list” for 2012. You combine Soderbergh with this cast, and I’m pretty sure no one is surprised. All I have to say is that this will definitely be an interesting set visit, so stay tuned for more news on ‘Magic Mike‘.

Exciting news!!! The ever-gorgeous Jenna Dewan-Tatum is featured on the cover of this month’s issue of Barcode Magazine!

Clad in her skimpy wardrobe as the sassy and secretive Bunny Janie, Dewan-Tatum embarks on her journey as a member of The Playboy Club…
Her initial reaction to being handed the pilot: “I thought, this one is special…I started realizing how smart and very progressive [Hugh Heffner] was.”
Her impression on the misogynistic perception people have of the show: “These women were so empowered and independent, making their own money and putting themselves through college.”
Her movie ‘Ten Year‘ with hubby Channing Tatum (their first film together since ‘Step Up’): “It’s all about friendships and relationships, and how much they’ve changed in ten years. Chan and I play boyfriend and girlfriend, which was really fun.”
How she and Chan make their Hollwood marriage work: “You fall in love with who you fall in love with. We’re supportive of each other, and we understand the business.”

In “The Playboy Club“, Jenna will play an iconic Playboy Bunny named Janie in the hour-long drama that’s set during the political and moral upheaval of the 1960s and is centered around the voluptuous ladies of the original Chicago Playboy Club.
In addition to Jenna, the show also stars Laura Benanti, Amber Heard, Leah Renee Cudmore, Naturi Naughton, Eddie Cibrian, David Krumholtz, Jenifer Lewis, Wes Ramsey, Cassidy Freeman and Sean Maher.
“The Playboy Club” is planning on bringing in a series of stars to portray famous performers from the 1960s in the period drama, and Entertainment Weekly is reporting that they just booked their first guest singer! Colbie Caillat will play the famed vocalist Lesley Gore and will perform Gore’s classic song “It’s My Party” on the show.
Speaking of casting, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that “The Playboy Club” will hold a casting call for paid extras at the Academy of the Arts from 11:00AM - 3:00PM this Saturday. Casting directors are looking for males and females of all races between 18-80 years old. Auditioners are asked to bring a pen and dress in early 1960’s attire (dark suits for men, dresses for women). For more information, email playboyextra@gmail.com.

UNWRAPPED PHOTOS: New Production Stills for Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s ‘Ten Year’

‘Ten Year‘, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s upcoming High School reunion drama, will have it’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12th.
The film is about a group of high school friends meet again at their high school reunion and discover that the passing of time changes some things–and others not at all, and has a huge star-studded ensemble cast (which you can see in the newly released production still above) that also includes Rosario Dawson, Anthony Mackie, Aaron Yoo, Nick Zano, Lynn Collins, Ari Graynor, Oscar Issac, Max Minghella, Eiko Nijo, Aubry Plaza, Scott Porter, Kate Mara, Brian Geraghty, Chris Pratt, Justin Long, Ron Livingston, Kelly Noonan and Franz Durand.
Here’s a synopsis of the film from TIFF’s site…
“Ten Year contains a full slate of memorable personalities, and Linden weaves their stories together over the course of one night at a ten-year high-school reunion. At the centre is Jake (Channing Tatum) and his smart, mature girlfriend Jess (Jenna Dewan- Tatum). Jake wants to propose to Jess, and is waiting for the right moment when his former girlfriend Mary (Rosario Dawson) unexpectedly shows up with an older husband (Ron Livingston) in tow.
Reeves (Oscar Isaac), a singer-songwriter enjoying recent fame from a hit record, encounters Elise (Kate Mara), the girl he had a crush on in high school — who barely noticed him back then. She has no idea that, ten years later, he’s become a star. Then there’s Marty (Justin Long), by his own account a swinging New York single. He instantly regresses into teenaged competition with his old best friend AJ (Max Minghella), especially when they spot their mutual high-school crush, the vivacious Anna (Lynn Collins). Across the room is the former bully, Culley (Chris Pratt), who drives his long-suffering wife Sam (Ari Graynor) crazy by spending the evening apologizing to the people he tormented. Meanwhile, smooth-talking Andre (Anthony Mackie) gently but pointedly mocks his old teammate Garrity (Brian Geraghty), who has evolved into a significantly different person than the one he was a decade before.”

NEWS FLASH: Filming Kicks Off Today on Channing Tatum’s ‘G.I. Joe 2′

Channing Tatum’s “How I Spent My Summer” speech would go a little something like this…
“I finished filming my comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ in New Orleans last month, spent my 2nd anniversary with my wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum at the Viceroy in Anguilla (even ran into a few fans on the way home), promoted my upcoming film ‘Haywire‘ at Comic-Con in San Diego, worked out to prep for upcoming films, and visited Jenna in Chicago where she’s filming her show ‘The Playboy Club‘. We both had fun hanging out with fans at the online screening of the documentary ‘Jig’. While in Chi-town, we had lunch at Hub 51, drinks at Rockit Bar & Grill, and enjoyed beef lollipops, Asian steak and vegan fare with friends at Sunda.”
Needless-to-say, it’s been a busy summer, and a few days ago Chan headed back to The Big Easy to start working on ‘G.I. Joe 2‘, the sequel to his $302 million grossing action film ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘, and director Jon Chu (’Step Up 2‘, ‘Step Up 3D‘, ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never’) is reporting that filming on the science fiction-action film sequel officially started in a “secret location” TODAY!!!
Chan talked about the film with Rogue at Comic-Con earlier this month…
In addition to Chan (Duke), the main cast also includes Byung Hun Lee (Storm Shadow), Ray Park (Snakes Eyes), Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye), Ray Stevenson (Firefly), Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Elodie Yung (ninja Jinx), D.J. Cotrona (Flint), RZA (martial arts guru Blind Master), Joe Mazzello (Mouse), Walton Goggins (warden Nigel James) and possibly Bruce Willis (original G.I. Joe General Joe Colton).

Chief Operating Officer Brian Goldner will oversee production for Hasbro, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Erik Howsam will produce for Di Bonaventura Pictures. The film’s script was written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers of ‘Zombieland’, and they have worked closely with Hasbro throughout script development.
Recently, Paramount announced a change in the official release date for what’s being tentatively called ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation‘ . The movie will now hit theaters June 29th, 2012 and will film in New Orleans through the end of November.
