Channing Tatum’s action-revenge spy thriller Haywire will hit theaters on January 20, 2012 and Entertainment Weekly has a FIRST LOOK at the film’s female lead (MMA fighter Gina Carano) in the July 8/15, 2011 issue of the magazine…

Haywire‘ is an electrifying tale of espionage and betrayal where a female covert ops specialist (played by Mixed martial arts superstar Gina Carano), who works in the deadly world of international operatives, strikes back after discovering she’s been double-crossed by someone close to her in the agency.

Chan (who filmed his role in Barcelona, Spain and New Mexico in February and March of 2010) will play one of the elite specialists on Carano’s team. His character is a military gearhead-type who’s sent to try and bring her back in once she’s been double-crossed.

The film is directed by Stephen Soderbergh and the incredible supporting cast also includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, and Michael Angarano.

Want to get the inside scoop on ‘Haywire‘ before it’s release? Soderberg and Carano will be presenting at Comic-con in Hall H on July 22nd at 11am – 11:25am and will also hold an autograph signing from 11:45am – 12:30pm.

In other press, Elle Magazine recently posted an “America the Beautiful” tribute where they “searched from coast to coast to find the loveliest native of each state in the union” and Chan was granted the “Most Beautiful” title for his home state of Alabama…

The picture may look familiar. We first saw it when Chan was featured in the August 2009 issue of Elle and People Magazine also used it in their World’s Most Beautiful issue in April of 2010. A good picture is a good picture and this one has clearly stood the test of time.

I can almost guarantee we’ll be seeing even more of Chan in the press in the coming months. This Winter and the first quarter of 2012 are going to be crazy busy for Chan, because he’ll have at least four different movies in theaters…the crime thriller ‘Son of No One‘ with Al Pacino and Katie Holmes (November 2011), the romantic drama ‘The Vow‘ with Rachel McAdams (February 10, 2012) and his comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ with Jonah Hill (March 16, 2012), in addition to the afore-mentioned ‘Haywire‘ (January 20, 2012)!!
