‘Step Up 4′ is Hunting for the Next Channing Tatum or Jenna Dewan-Tatum!!!

Summit Entertainment is currently working on the 4th installment of the hugely successful dance franchise that started with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s ‘Step Up‘ in 2006.

Music video director Scott Speer (who previously directed episodes of the web series The LXD: The League of Extraordinary Dancers) has reportedly been hired to helm the film, Jenny Mayer is writing the screenplay, and like ‘Step Up 3D‘, ‘Step Up 4′ will also be shot in 3D.

Jon M. Chu, who directed both ‘Step Up 2‘ and ‘Step Up 3D‘ and is currently directing the sequel to Chan’s movie ‘G.I. Joe‘ will serve as executive producer on ‘Step Up 4′, with Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot producing.

‘Step Up 4′ is scheduled to hit theaters in 2012, and the filmmakers are currently looking for dancers and two new faces to play the male and female lead roles in the new installment. Here’s descriptions of the characters and dancers…

SEAN: 21 / handsome. From the streets of urban Miami. Raised by his big sister whom he respects. Raised poor - Class war mentality. Smart beyond his years, amazing dancer, choreographer, creative genius and co-founder of the MOB, an underground next-level flash mob organization. No formal dance training. Has big dreams, but doesn’t believe he can make a difference. He’ll have his beliefs challenged when he falls for his wealthy boss’s daughter. Full of spontaneous energy. Charming, confident but not cocky. Edgy and a bit dangerous. A natural leader. MUST BE AN EXCEPTIONAL DANCER. PROTOTYPE: Channing Tatum

EMILY: 21 / Beautiful / Privileged. Her mom died five years ago, it’s a tough reality with uber-successful, ‘father knows best’ dad, Mr. Anderson. Formally trained classical, lyrical dancer. Quarter life crisis - Just graduated NYU, but Emily still holds onto her dream of being a professional dancer. In Miami for the summer and at a crossroads in her life. Strong, smart, and sassy. Always has her guard up against guys, she assumes everyone wants to date her for her money. She meets Sean, who introduces her to his flashmob: a free form, no rules creative outlet, coupled with rebellion and risk.

DANCERS: The filmmakers are looking for all types of urban dancers. Solo dancers and dance teams will be considered. Submit your dance video to be considered.

Vote for Jenna Dewan-Tatum in the “Playboy Club” Bunny Poll

In the adorable pic above, we have Channing Tatum and his beautiful wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum spending some quality time together in New Orleans (where he’s filming ‘21 Jump Street‘) before Jenna heads to Chicago next month to begin filming her new television show “The Playboy Club“.

The drama will premiere on NBC on September 19th , and Jenna recently attended an early screening with her castmates at Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Mansion.

The show just posted a Facebook Poll where fans get to vote on who they’re most excited to see in “The Playboy Club” this Fall. It’s a hot race and today Jenna tweeted a thank you to her fans for all of the votes…

As I previously reported, Jenna will play an iconic Playboy Bunny named Janie in the hour-long drama that’s set during the political and moral upheaval of the 1960s and is centered around the voluptuous ladies of the original Chicago Playboy Club.

In addition to Bunnies played by Jenna, Laura Benanti, Amber Heard, Leah Renee Cudmore and Naturi Naughton, the highly anticipated show, also stars Eddie Cibrian, David Krumholtz, Wes Ramsey, and Sean Maher.

“The Playboy Club” is created by Uber producer Brian Grazer (“A Beautiful Mind,” “American Gangster”) and executive producers Chad Hodge (“Tru Calling”), Francie Calfo (“Scoundrels”), Jason Burns (”The House Bunny”) and Dick Rosenzweig (“Kendra”). NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s ‘Haywire’ Finds New Distributor and Release Date

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Channing Tatum’s action-revenge spy thriller Haywire (previously called ‘Knockout‘) has changed domestic distributors and is now set for a January 20, 2012 release via Relativity Media.

‘Haywire‘ is an electrifying tale of espionage and betrayal where a female covert ops specialist (played by Mixed martial arts superstar Gina Carano), who works in the deadly world of international operatives, strikes back after discovering she’s been double-crossed by someone close to her in the agency.

She’s betrayed by her team and goes rogue in an attempt to figure out who’s setting her up. While everyone is on the same side initially, the film supposedly features a lot of duplicity, double crosses, and reversals of allegiances.

Chan (who filmed his role in Barcelona, Spain and New Mexico in February and March of 2010) will play one of the elite specialists on Carano’s team. His character is a military gearhead-type who’s sent to try and bring her back in once she’s been double-crossed.

The incredible supporting cast also includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, and Michael Angarano. Fassbender reportedly plays an untrustworthy teammate, while Douglas ultimately proves to be an ally. McGregor, the owner of the Blackwater-type special ops team (and once a romantic interest to Carano), is instrumental in trying to make her character, Mallory Kane, take the fall for an incident that goes wrong and involves a murder.

The first quarter of 2012 is going to be extremely busy for Chan, because he’ll have three different movies in theaters…the romantic drama ‘The Vow‘ with Rachel McAdams (February 10, 2012) and his comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ with Jonah Hill (March 16, 2012), in addition to the afore-mentioned ‘Haywire‘ (January 20, 2012).
