Channing Tatum’s Steven Soderbergh-directed action film ‘Haywire‘ will reportedly hit theaters this summer. Although the official poster has not been released yet, a slew of beautifully designed concept posters (seen below) have hit the web via a Gina Carano fan site and The Playlist, and both sites are reporting that the posters may be the work of talented Los Angeles based graphic designer Neil Kellerhouse.

Haywire‘ is about a black ops spy (Carano) who’s betrayed by her team and goes rogue in an attempt to figure out who’s setting her up. While everyone is on the same side initially, the film supposedly features a lot of duplicity, double crosses, and reversals of allegiances.

Chan (who filmed his role in Barcelona, Spain and New Mexico last year) will play one of the elite specialists on Carano’s team. His character is a military gearhead-type who’s sent to try and bring her back in once she’s been double-crossed.

The incredible supporting cast also includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Angarano, and Mathieu Kassovitz. Fassbender reportedly plays an untrustworthy teammate, while Douglas ultimately proves to be an ally. McGregor, the owner of the Blackwater-type special ops team (and once a romantic interest to Carano), is instrumental in trying to make her character, Mallory Kane, take the fall for an incident that goes wrong and involves a murder.

In other Soderbergh-related news, Chan is going to be working with the director again on a new indie film called ‘Magic Mike’, a story of friendship set in the world of male adult entertainers. The film is inspired by Chan’s experiences early in his career, and he’s set to play the main character, who teaches a young dancer the ropes.

In addition to starring in the film, Chan will also be producing the movie with his 33&Out producing partner Reid Carolin (who’s also writing the script), Nick Wechsler, and Gregory Jacobs.

Soderbergh (who decided to postpone retirement to direct the film) said in a statement…

“When Channing talked to me about this, I thought it was one of the best ideas I’d ever heard for a movie. I said I wanted in immediately. It’s sexy, funny and shocking. We’re using Saturday Night Fever as our model, so hopefully we’re on the right track.”

And here’s Chan’s take on the project…

“This was a wild and pivotal time in my life and I couldn’t be more thrilled to go down the rabbit hole with Steven.”

Indiewire is reporting that ‘Magic Mike’ will be presented to buyers next month at the Cannes Film Festival for foreign pre-sales and that Soderbergh will be showing a teaser cut of the film that features Chan. Shooting on ‘Magic Mike’ could start as early as this September.
