March 27, 2011

Each week ChanningTatumUnwrapped.com will post one or more of our favorite pictures of the uber beautiful and fan friendly Channing Tatum.

In today’s Pictures of the Week, we have some great photos that UK fans sent me after they had the opportunity to meet Chan on the streets of London and at the Waterstone’s Piccadilly book signing during ‘The Eaglepress tour a few weeks ago.

Here’s what James had to say about his fan encounter with Chan at the book signing

“During Channing’s press tour in London, I got to meet him during his Eagle of Ninth book signing at Waterstone’s. The venue said that no-one was to take photos but of course Chan allowed fans to take as many photos as they wanted. It was so awesome to meet him, he was such a nice guy, chatting to each fan and even giving some of the hugs!”

Here’s some exclusive photos of fans James and Saskia at the book signing and fan Elena outside London’s Vaudeville Theatre on March 11th…

One of the things I have always loved about Chan is how incredible he is to his fans. ‘The Eaglehit UK cinemas last week, so I hope you all showed your support by going to see the movie!

Big thanks to Saskia, James, and Elena for the great pics! Fans can check out tons more photos from the UK press tour in the CTU Photo Gallery.

If you have a favorite picture from this blog, our photo gallery, a picture you have made or a picture that you have found on the net that you would like me to consider, send the picture or a link to the picture to potw@channingtatumunwrapped.com and tell me why you like it. Check Out New Movie Stills for Channing Tatum’s ‘The Eagle’ on UK Official Website

March 21, 2011

After a red carpet premiere in London a couple of weeks ago, Channing Tatum’s Roman epic ‘The Eagle‘ will finally hit UK theaters this week. Focus Features has added a few new production stills to the UK official site, and fans can check out Chan with his co-star Jamie Bell in the new photos below…

The Eagle‘ is helmed by award-winning director Kevin Macdonald, is based on the best-selling, classic 1954 teen novel by Rosemary Sutcliff, and is set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. The film will hit UK theaters as early as this Wednesday, March 23rd, so make sure you go check it out!!!

Here’s what the UK’s Sunday Mirror had to say about the film…

“A stylishly brooding Roman adventure, The Eagle is a thrilling journey into the heart of darkness (well, Scotland). Gritty and moody, bloody and brutal, this tough and exciting Roman epic is a classic tale that is very well made … along with all the talk of ‘honour’, this Roman adventure film is driven by some beautifully staged fight scenes and succeeds in being an enjoyable Roman romp…Tatum is impressively brooding and his chaste bromance with Esca is well developed.”

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s ‘Earth Made of Glass’ Premiering on HBO2!!!

March 19, 2011

“There is no den in the wide world to hide a rogue. Commit a crime, and the EARTH is MADE OF GLASS.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

As I previously posted, ‘Earth Made of Glass‘ will premiere on HBO next month. We now have a few more details I can share…

The film, which chronicles the search for truth and peace in post-genocide Rwanda, debuts exclusively on HBO2 Wednesday, April 6th at 8:00-9:30 p.m. ET/PT and replays April 27th at 2:30p.m. ET/PT. Fans can check out the newly released official page for the film on HBO’s site.

For those who don’t know, ‘Earth Made of Glass‘ is executive produced by Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Reid Carolin’s production company 33&Out and Deborah Scranton’s Clover & a Bee Films.

The political documentary had a standing room only premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival last April and recently received a 2011 Producers Guild Award nomination for Best Documentary Theatrical Motion Picture.

In the film, director Deborah Scranton (”The War Tapes”) examines the personal and political repercussions of the deadly conflict in the east African country of Rwanda and explores issues of peace, retribution, accountability and justice, ultimately discovering a blueprint for ending the cycle of violence.

“After my previous films about the perspective of U.S. soldiers fighting on the ground in Iraq, I was fascinated by the questions of what happens after war ends. How does a country successfully rebuild, move on - both on an individual, personal level, as well as on the international level as a nation?…We learn that above all else, the need for truth becomes paramount. Without truth, there can be no peace.” — Deborah Scranton

The documentary, which has been endorsed by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, follows Rwandan President Paul Kagame and genocide survivor Jean-Pierre Sagahutu.

During the 1994 Rwandan genocide, in which an estimated one million people were killed, and millions more displaced, Sagahutu’s two parents, four brothers and three sisters were murdered. For the next 15 years, he scoured the countryside for answers to his father’s death.

Kagame and Sagahutu never meet, but the film shows how the efforts of a president and an ordinary man become inextricably linked through a love of country, an insatiable need for truth and a hope for peace.

In a moving statement that eloquently summarizes one of the strongest lessons in the film, Sagahutu declares…

“The cycle of hatred and violence stops with me. I will not pass it down to my children.”

And here’s one of the main reasons why Chan decided to get involved with the film…

“I sincerely feel like the messages in this film offer up a path to ending hatred and violence both in nations around the world, and in small communities across our country.”

Fans can watch the documentary’s official trailer below…

Mark your calendars and make sure you don’t miss the documentary when it hits the small screen on HBO2 on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 8:00pm ET/PT!

NEWS FLASH: Casting Updates for Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s “Playboy” and Channing Tatum’s ‘21 Jump Street’

March 11, 2011

In the March 14, 2011 issue of Us Weekly the mag asked 100 people in NYC’s Rockefeller Center “Who wore it best?,” and Jenna Dewan-Tatum (pictured at Vanity Fair’s pre-Oscar party last week) beat out the competition in a Voom LBD by Joy Han.

Fans can CLICK HERE to check out more pics of Jenna and husband Channing Tatum at the event.

Although you can see Jenna in this week’s US Weekly, you’ll be seeing her and her hubby on the small and big screen a lot over the next year. In their immediate future, Chan and Jenna have two big projects that are going to kickoff soon, and I have a couple of casting updates to share with you all…

As I previously posted, Jenna has joined the new pilot “Playboy,” which is the first pilot ordered into development this season by NBC.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that actor Eddie Cibrian has been cast in the leading role in the NBC pilot that is slated to begin filming this month in Chicago. The site says that…

“Playboy, from 20th Century Fox TV, Imagine TV and writer/executive producer Chad Hodge, is set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963. It centers on Nick Dalton (Cibrian), described as “the ultimate playboy.” He is an attorney in Chicago and a Keyholder at the glamorous, exclusive club. A fixer who knows how to make problems disappear, he has mysterious ties to the mob.”

Playboy” is an hour-long drama set during the political and moral upheaval of the 1960s and is centered around the voluptuous ladies of the original Chicago Playboy Club. Alan Taylor, who directed the first episode for AMC’s award-winning drama “Mad Men,” is directing the pilot, which also co-stars Laura Benanti, Amber Heard, Naturi Naughton, Leah Renee, David Krumholtz and Wes Ramsey.

AfterElton.com reports that the script, written by Chad Hodge (Tru Calling), revolves around the politics inside the club as well as the personal lives of the Bunnies.

In the show, Jenna, who’s currently prepping for the role, will play a bunny named Janie. Her character has been described as the “life of the party, naughty, carefree, but that hint of a Southern accent suggests she’s running away from something”. She recently went through bunny training and has been doing research for her character. Jenna tweeted

“Doing research, just watched @hughhefner ’s documentary..what a fascinating and smart guy! So interesting.”

After doing a short press tour for the ‘The Eagle’ in the UK next week, Chan will head to New Orleans in April to begin filming his comedy ‘21 Jump Street‘ where he will be both acting and executive producing with Jonah Hill.

A few weeks ago Deadline Hollywood reported that Ice Cube was in negotiations to join the Sony Pictures film, and today the site is confirming that Brie Larson (who’s best known for playing Toni Collette’s rebellious daughter in the Showtime series “United States of Tara”) has been cast in the “coveted lead female role of Molly”. Reportedly, her character may be Jonah’s love interest in the film.

During the press tour for ‘The Eagle’, here’s what Chan told Screencrave.com about ‘21 Jump Street‘, which is a film adaptation of the popular 80’s show that shared the same name and starred Johnny Depp…

“21 Jump Street will be the most insane ride that you will ever go on. It’s the most ridiculous script I’ve ever read in my entire life. I’ve read a lot of insane scripts and this one takes the cake. The stuff that we’re going to get to do — you’re just gonna be like, ‘I can’t believe that they’re getting to do this.’… We’re beating on [Johnny Depp’s] door [for a cameo] so hard that I hope he answers. Yeah, we would freak out I think. We’re on top of it every single day. I think we send him something every single day…[The cameo] will be a surprise. If and when it does happen, it will be crazy and true to form. And as brilliant as he is, it will be true to form to him.”
