AS SEEN ON TV: Check Out Channing Tatum and ‘The Eagle’ on Ellen and HBO This Week!!
January 31, 2011
First of all, BIG thanks to my friends over at Focus Features for the EXCLUSIVE photo above (Photo Credit: Keith Bernstein). It’ the first of two never-before-seen movie stills featuring Channing Tatum in his upcoming drama ‘The Eagle‘, which hits theaters on February 11th.
The film is a 2011 adaptation of Rosemary Sutcliff’s historical novel “The Eagle of the Ninth” and is about a Roman soldier (played by Chan) in 140 A.D. investigating the disappearance of his father’s legion in ancient Britain. The movie also stars Jamie Bell and Donald Sutherland, and is directed by Kevin Macdonald.
I’ll post the second photo the studio sent me next week, but you can check out a few more movies stills of Chan that were just released…
For those who have been following Chan’s twitter, you know that he kicked off the domestic press tour for ‘The Eagle‘ by visiting radio stations, fans, and press in Boston today. You can check out photos, video and audio from his interview with Jam’N 98.5’s reporter Pebbles below…
Here’s Pebbles inaugural interview (part 1 and part 2) for her new segment “In The Studio” with Chan…
Don’t have time to watch the video? You can read the transcript of the interview below…
Pebbles: Do you want to take on different roles, something different every time?
Channing Tatum: : Yes, you want to change it up so its not monotonous. I did drama, love story, and this is a period piece. It had to do with the directors I want to work with as well.
Pebbles: Are there any roles you regret taking?
Channing Tatum: No, nothing I really regret; some hard roles though.
Pebbles: How did you prepare for the role?
Channing Tatum: : I always rid horses and and did martial arts my whole life. Oddly enough I did not have to go on a diet and that was the best thing I ever heard. The director, Kevin didn’t want me to look like I just left the gym, so I show up and he looks at me and says "a little tighter" and I was like, "but you said" and he just says "tighter"
Pebbles: So this is the movie you where you burned your manhood?
Channing Tatum: : Yes. We were filming for three days in the river, beautiful but cruel, hypothermic. If you’re in it for five minutes of more you will get hypothermia. We had people pouring warm water down our wet suits to keep us warm and it was the last shot of the day and I met one of the guys half way up the hill, but he hadn’t gone all the way down to the river to dilute the boiling hot water and poured it down my wet suit. You have two male nurses standing over you and your manhood is not doing well. I truly cannot explain how bad it was. A funny thing though, there was a marine in the background and he said the song playing at the time wasn’t appropriate so he turned it down. Can you guess what song was playing?
Pebbles: Usher "Burn?"
Channing Tatum: : Haha no, "My Sex Is On Fire" [Kings of Leon]
Pebbles: Did you find that your dance background helped for this movie?
Channing Tatum: : Yeah, we kept joking we were gonna turn it into a musical. Choreography you need to learn the spacing and how to move with someone because it can really be dangerous; take one wrong step and you fall into a 6 foot deep hole, if someone is swinging and ax, it may be fake but still gonna hurt when it hits you.
Pebbles: How did you propose to your wife?
Channing Tatum: We went to Hawaii. I had friend fly out and find a waterfall because the first trip to Hawaii with her we tried to find a waterfall but couldn’t find one. The cab driver took us for a ride to try and find it but we don’t think it really existed, so I had my friend check it out to find one and had my sister and friend hide in the bushes and film it.
Pebbles: How did you know she was the one?
Channing Tatum: She made me wanna grow and be better; laugher. We were living together for 4 years and you get to know someone. She’s the messy one. You gotta know everything you can about the person.
Pebbles: Since both of you are actors, does it make the relationship easier or harder?
Channing Tatum: It makes it harder because you both have to go off and do films in different places. I think we understand it more though, if you have to go make out with all these charismatic actress and she didn’t get that, it would be really turbulent.
Pebbles: Question from Dianna- Who is your big influence?
Channing Tatum: My sister. Growing up she was a surrogate mom. When I got in trouble , after dealing with the parents, she would be the one to come through and help me handle the situation so I could get out of things.
Pebbles: Question from Gabriella- What is the craziest thing you have ever done for a girl? What’s the craziest thing a fan has ever done to you?
Channing Tatum: I surprised Jenna with the first trip to Hawaii. I said we were going to dinner and we went to the airport.
Pebbles: Now what about the craziest thing a fan has ever done? Anyone pop out of a closet of your hotel room?
Channing Tatum: Haha no. I guess when someone comes up in the airport and just hands you their phone. So you are like "Hi?" and the person on the other end is like " No way". One time I was at McDonald’s and the girl behind the counter said I looked like Channing Tatum and I told her I was. She wouldn’t give me my food because she didn’t believe me, so I was like ok I’m not, can you give me my food?
You can also listen to the audio from Chan’s on radio interview at 94.5 this morning…
Chan will be making stops in a few more cities around the country to promote the film before he heads back to Los Angeles to attend a press junket. Help Our Soldiers By Winning Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum & Tons More in TwitChange’s Celeb Auction
January 29, 2011
Channing Tatum (@channingtatum) and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum (@jennaldewan) are once again participating in TwitChange and their latest charity auction just kicked off TODAY. For those who don’t know, TwitChange is a global celebrity auction where Twitter users can bid to get followed, retweeted, and/or mentioned by their favorite celebrity on Twitter.
100% of the donations generated by the auctions will go to provide emergency aid and support to soldiers and their families through the charity Operation Once in a Lifetime. Their mission is to make the dreams of U.S. Soldiers and their families come true by providing free financial and morale support to U.S Service members, their families and veterans regardless of rank, deployment, physical condition or branch or service.
There’s a ton more auctions for Chan and Jenna’s fans this time, because they are both listed four times in four separate auctions each. Fans all around the world can bid on their eight auctions that include a tweet, a follow, a retweet, and a mega package that includes all three (a tweet, follow, and retweet) AND a signed photo from Chan or Jenna. I will also feature all of the auction winners here on CTU in a special charity Fab Fan Spotlight.
Chan and Jenna’s TwitChange auction pages will be available on Ebay through February 5, 2011, and fans can click on the images below to bid on Chan and Jenna’s auctions on Ebay…
Operation Once in a Lifetime was created by a soldier to help other soldiers; a soldier knows what a soldier needs and a soldier knows what a soldier does not need. A soldier does not need to worry about providing beds for their kids, worrying if their electricity will still be on when he goes home or if their house will be foreclosed on when serving his/her country.
A soldier needs a program that will provide free financial assistance regardless of their rank, race, religion, orientation, branch of service, physical condition or deployment status. A soldier needs a program that can help make a life altering contribution when they are in their greatest need; Operation Once in a Lifetime is that program. CLICK HERE to learn more about the amazing organization.
It’s a great cause, and you get a cool perk in return. More importantly, your winning bid will make a HUGE difference in a deserving soldier’s life. I hope you head on over to Ebay and start bidding!
P.S. If you don’t win Chan and Jenna’s TwitChange auctions, please consider making a direct donation to Operation Once in a Lifetime, because that’s really what all of this is about anyway. Thanks!

Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell Suit Up for Battle in ‘The Eagle’
January 23, 2011
Focus Features recently added another behind-the-scenes look at Channing Tatum’s Roman era drama ‘The Eagle‘ to their official site. Check out the new interview where Academy-Award winning Costume Designer Michael O’Connor and others explain how the costumes of Aquila (Chan) and Esca (Jamie Bell) tell a story all their own…
US-based fans will be able to check out Chan in ‘The Eagle‘ when it hits theaters on February 11, 2011. ‘The Eagle‘ is also going to premiere in the UK as the closing film at the Glasgow Film Festival on February 27, 2011. The festival screening is already sold-out, but UK fans will be able to see the film when it has a wide release on March 18, 2011.
For those who don’t know, here’s the synopsis for film…
In 140 AD, two men – master and slave – venture beyond the edge of the known world on a dangerous and obsessive quest that will push them beyond the boundaries of loyalty and betrayal, friendship and hatred, deceit and heroism…The Roman epic adventure THE EAGLE stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell and is directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Macdonald. 20 years earlier, Rome’s 5,000-strong Ninth Legion, under the command of Flavius Aquila, marched north carrying their treasured golden Eagle emblem. They never returned; Legion and Eagle simply vanished into the mists. Hearing a rumor that the Eagle has been seen in a tribal temple in the far north, Flavius’ son Marcus (Tatum), determined to restore the tarnished reputation of his father, is galvanized into action. Accompanied only by his slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out into the vast and dangerous highlands of Scotland – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the hallowed Eagle. Along the way Marcus realizes that the mystery of his father’s disappearance may well be linked to the secret of his own slave’s identity and loyalty – a secret all the more pressing when the two come face-to-face with the warriors of the fearsome Seal Prince (Tahar Rahim).
Want more? There’s a ton of photos from the film in the CTU Photo Gallery, and you can also learn more about the movie on its official site and official Facebook.

IN THE PRESS: Chan and Jenna Featured in Entertainment Weekly, US Weekly and Star Magazine
January 22, 2011
As I mentioned in my previous post, Channing Tatum is a bit of a busy bee this year, because FIVE of his films will potentially hit the silver screen, ‘The Dilemma‘ (January 14th), ‘Son of No One‘ (January 28th at Sundance and wide release later this year), ‘The Eagle‘ (February 11th), ‘Haywire‘ (April 22nd), and ‘Ten Year‘ (Fall or Winter 2011). In addition to starring in the film, he’s also a producer on ‘Ten Year‘ via his production company 33andOut.

CHANNING TATUM VIDEOS OF THE WEEK: ‘Son Of No One’ Interview & EXCLUSIVE Trailer and New ‘Eagle’ TV Spots
January 20, 2011
Today’s Videos of the Week include the first official trailer and an on-set interview from MTV for Channing Tatum’s drama ‘The Son of No One‘ and two new two spots for his Roman drama ‘The Eagle‘. Enjoy!!!
With one film under his belt (’The Dilemma‘) and as many as four more to go this year (’Son of No One‘, ‘The Eagle‘, ‘Haywire‘, and ‘Ten Year‘), Chan will promote his highly buzzed-about second movie of the year when he and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum attend the world premiere of his drama ‘Son of No One‘ next Friday. The film is closing out the prestigious Sundance Film Festival, which kicked off in Park City, Utah today.
MTV has an exclusive official trailer for the film, which has an amazing cast that also includes Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, Juliette Binoche, Katie Holmes and “30 Rock” funnyman Tracy Morgan in his first true dramatic role.
Check out the new ‘Son of No One’ trailer below…
MTV also visited the New York City set of ‘The Son of No One‘ last April. You can CLICK HERE to check out tons of set pics in the CTU Photo Gallery, and you can watch an interview with Chan, Tracy, and director Dito Montiel below…
“Directed by Sundance vet Dito Montiel (”A Guide to Recognizing Our Saints,” “Fighting”), “Son of No One” follows two friends (Tatum and Morgan) forced to face the consequences of a murder they committed — and got away with — 16 years earlier. Tatum’s character Jonathan “Milk” White has gone on to a successful career with the police force and has a happy home life with his wife (Holmes) and Child. Morgan’s character Vinnie has kind of gone the other way. When Milk is assigned to the precinct where he grew up, his decade-and-a-half-old secret threatens to tear apart his life and his family.”
When it gets closer to the release of the film, I’ll have my behind-the-scenes account from deep inside the ‘The Son of No One‘ set with Chan, Jenna, and Dito!
Channing Tatum’s Roman epic ‘The Eagle‘ is helmed by award-winning director Kevin Macdonald and is based on the best-selling, classic 1954 teen novel by Rosemary Sutcliff, which is set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. The movie will hit theaters on February 11th, and THR is reporting that fans will get another sneak peek of the film before this year’s Super Bowl.
In the mean-time, you can watch the latest TV spots (”Warrier” and “Conquer“) below….
If you have a favorite video that you would like me to consider, send a link to the video to votw@channingtatumunwrapped.com and tell me why you like it.
