Channing Tatum (@channingtatum) and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum (@jennaldewan) recently participated in TwitChange, the first ever global celebrity charity auction where Twitter users were able to bid to get followed, retweeted, and/or mentioned by their favorite celebrities on Twitter.

100% of the donations generated by the auction have been donated to aHomeInHaiti.org so they can finish rebuilding the Miriam Center, which houses, educates, and provides love for Haitian children with cerebral palsy, severe autism, and other major life challenges. It’s one of the only facilities of its kind in the earthquake-ravished country, and its current facility, which is extremely overcrowded, now houses children from the earthquake.

Through the generosity of auction bidders and direct donations to A Home in Haiti, TwitChange raised well over $600,000 in 10 days via its unique auction, so I wanted to spotlight Chan and Jenna’s winners here on CTU.

It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Brooke Ives and DaisyCares founder Ami Gordon. Learn why they decided to get involved in this really incredible cause by bidding on Chan and Jenna…

There are so many charities to choose from these days, sometimes it is hard to decide who to donate your money to. When @twitchange came up with a charity auction to raise money for the children in Haiti, I knew that I wanted to help.

I chose @channingtatum for several reasons. 1) My children think that he rocks. In G.I. Joe, “Duke” is awesome! I thought it would be neat for them to get a shout out from him. 2) I, personally, think Channing Tatum was awesome in Fighting and G.I. Joe and anything else that he pursues. Yes, he was great in Dear John also, but I am more of the action type of girl! I think Channing Tatum is an awesome actor and producer. 3) I have the utmost respect for Channing Tatum, and I thought it would be pretty dang cool if he was actually a “friend” on twitter. All of this AND I was able to donate to a great charity. I know there were many fans who bid on his auction, and I feel blessed to have won! He has so many fans, and it’s amazing to see how supportive all of his fans are of him and his career!

Thanks,
Brooke Ives

DaisyCares is so honored to be the winner of Jenna Dewan’s bid package at TwitChange! We bid on Jenna because of her extraordinary compassion and love for animals and life. She exemplifies a role model to our organization and to me on a personal level, and we couldn’t think of a better way to show our support for both Haiti and Jenna!

Daisy, my beloved 6-year old yorkie, is the inspiration behind DaisyCares. She is a terminally ill dog that has been given a second chance at life, and we’ve dedicated ourselves to “paying it forward” by saving pets’ lives.

DaisyCares was created to address the alarming increase in the number of euthanized, surrendered and abandoned pets. We wanted to step in and attack this problem by providing pet food and grants for veterinary care to needy families so that they could keep their pets during difficult economic times. We’ve only been in operation since April of this year, and have already provided pet food to over 2,000 families, and financial aid for veterinary care assistance to over 100 families. Unfortunately, this is only a small fraction of the population that needs our help. If we’re able to win the $50,000 Pepsi Refresh Grant, we’ll be able to save even more pets’ lives, and keep pets at home with their families.

We’ve been so overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of both Jenna and CTU, and are so inspired by all that they do to Post the Love!

There’s strength in numbers and we would love it if you all follow DaisyCares on Twitter and Facebook. You can also learn more about their Pepsi Refresh Project campaign, which Jenna’s been tweeting about, in their video below…

With a mission of providing veterinary care for animals who would otherwise die, they are overwhelmed at the opportunity this grant would provide – imagine the amount of pets who would be saved simply because you took the time to vote for them!
