May 30, 2010
Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried’s romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ (aka ‘Querido John’) premiered in Brazilian theaters earlier this month and came out on DVD and Blu-ray in the US and Canada last week. Brazil’s Capricho Magazine featured an exclusive interview with the two actorsin the May 2010 issue (with Miley Cyrus on the cover) using photos from a January 29th shoot Chan and Amanda did on the San Fransisco leg of the ‘Dear John’ press tour.
Fans can check out the article, pics from the shoot, and behind-the-scenes photos of Chan and Amanda on today’s post in the CTU Photo Gallery. If you like those pics and speak Portuguese, feel free to also read the new Capricho Magazine article below…
On a side note, Sony recently posted a couple of ‘Dear John‘ bloopers on Youtube. Chan’s blooper is absolutely HI-larious and reminds me why I can’t wait to see him in his upcoming comedic role in ‘Cheaters‘. Enjoy!!!

FAN ENCOUNTERS: Channing Tatum Hanging Out with Fans on the Set and Overseas
May 28, 2010
Channing Tatum finished filming his crime drama ‘Son of No One‘ in New York City earlier this month. From day one of filming on April 5th fans have been really great about sending me photos and fan encounters from set. On today’s post in the CTU Photo Gallery, we have over 40 new pics that you guys were able to get with the notoriously fan-friendly star as he filmed all over Queens in April and May.
Below, you all can read about two fan’s recent encounters…the first, from fan Heather on the ‘Son of No One‘ set in New York last month and the second, a chance meeting with fan Brooke in Barcelona (where Chan filmed Steven Soderbergh’s action-revenge spy thriller ‘Knockout‘ earlier this year)…
“Hello guys! I just wanted to be able to share my story and photographs from my Encounter with Chan. I’ve been a fan of Channing Tatum for a LONG time. I think the first movie I saw him in was in Havoc with Anne Hathaway…Later, I saw She’s the Man and Step Up which made me “fall in love” with him even more…
…I got to the set at 10:30 AM and felt extremely awkward because my friend and I were the only ones there at the time and Channing was no where to be found since they were filming inside a house. A lot of the crew members were giving us weird looks and I was extremely intimidated. I went to my car to go tell my ride that maybe we should just leave and then I turned me head to see Channing hopping into a car. I was in awe. I looked at my friend and ride and said “Holy Lord, I swear to God that I just saw Chan just get in that car!” They didn’t believe me so my friend and I went for a walk to try and find the trailers to see if Channing was there. I didn’t see anyone in the area of the trailers so we went walking back up to the set. As we were walking, the car that Channing had gotten into drove past me. I looked into the car, and Chan smiled at me. I tried to catch up with it but by the time I got to the house, he had already gone inside.
To make this long and amazing story short, I saw Channing get into his car and go to the trailers once more and decided to stand outside the trailer in any attempt of at least speaking him since it was getting late, and it was extremely hot out. Around 3:15, Channing finally did come out of the trailer and socialized with his fans. I talked to him briefly but he introduced himself and thanked me for waiting for such a long time. I am glad to say that after 5 hours of waiting, my dream came true; I went home with a ton of pictures, a full heart, a mean sunburn (not one of the greater parts of the day), and bragging rights…The experience was fantastic and I thank Chan a million times for making my wildest dreams come true!”
Thanks again,
Heather (@x0heathercee0x)
Here’s a new video showing fans and Chan during one of the many set encounters…
The next fan encounter was originally posted on HitRecord.org by BrookieMcG. It was then re-posted on PostTheLove.com and sent to me by CTU reader Vanessa…
“Ah Channing Tatum! On the last day of our trip, we had to meet up at the Hard Rock Cafe, Barcelona. While waiting in the lobby with a few of my friends, I happened to see him standing next to us. I have met a few actors in my life and I never would have guessed that he was as sweet as he was. He couldn’t have been any nicer; something that one doesn’t expect while meeting someone like himself. He was very friendly and was curious about why were in Spain and where were from. After he was called for his reservation, he gave me a hug! Definitely the best way to end a trip.”
Thanks to all the fans for submitting your fan encounters! You can also CLICK HERE to check out even more pics from the ‘Son of No One‘ set and CLICK HERE to read a bunch of other fan encounter stories.
If you happen to run into Chan or Jenna, send your photos and fan encounters to fanencounters@channingtatumunwrapped.com. I will post them on the blog to share with envious fans all around the globe!

CHANNING TATUM MOVIE BYTES: ‘G.I. Joe 2′ and ‘Eagle of the Ninth’ Update
May 27, 2010
As Channing Tatum prepares for his comedic role in Ron Howard and Vince Vaughn’s comedy ‘Cheaters‘ (which he starts filming next month), I want to share a few bits of news about Chan’s upcoming films ‘G.I. Joe 2‘ and ‘Eagle of the Ninth‘. Check out today’s Movie Bytes to get the latest scoop. Enjoy!!!
G.I. JOE 2
Fans are constantly asking about G.I. Joe 2, the upcoming sequel to Chan’s $300-plus million grossing action film G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. Recently, MTV News caught up with Lorenzo di Bonaventura, the executive producer for both G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe 2.
Although Bonaventura didn’t give a ton of details, he did tell MTV News that they are currently working on the script with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (”Zombieland”). He also mentioned that Paramount is very excited about getting the movie going, and they’ll possibly begin filming in the Spring of 2011. They’re also hoping for a Summer 2012 release.
EAGLE OF THE NINTH
Back in February, we got a glimpse of Channing Tatum in his Roman drama ‘The Eagle of the Ninth‘ when the trailer played before ‘Dear John‘, and the film also had at least one test screening in Paramus, New Jersey on May 6th. Beyond that and the release of a few promotional/fan/set photos from the film, we haven’t had a ton of updates on the film…until today that is.
Focus Features officially announced a new release date for Channing Tatum’s Roman drama ‘The Eagle of the Ninth‘. Instead of the original September 24th release date, ‘The Eagle of the Ninth‘ will now open nationwide on Friday, February 25th, 2011. So it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer to see Chan in his full on Roman glory, but I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait!
The Roman epic adventure, currently in post-production, is directed by Academy Award winner Kevin Macdonald and produced by Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Duncan Kenworthy. Jeremy Brock, BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter of Mr. Macdonald’s 2006 film The Last King of Scotland, has adapted the screenplay from Rosemary Sutcliff’s classic novel of the same name.
‘The Eagle of the Ninth‘ is set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (played by Channing) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Jamie Bell), Marcus sets out across Hadrian’s Wall into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the lost legion’s golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth. The movie also stars Donald Sutherland, Mark Strong, and Tahar Rahim.

PICTURES OF THE WEEK: Exclusive Set Pics & Chan, Jenna, and Their Pups Take On Runyon Canyon
May 23, 2010
Each week ChanningTatumUnwrapped.com will post one or more of our favorite pictures of the uber beautiful Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum. Today’s Pictures of the Week come to us courtesy of JustJared.com, Chan’s ‘Dear John‘ co-star Mary Rachel Dudley, and Jenna herself.
We have new pics of Chan and Jenna walking their dogs in Los Angeles, exclusive pics of Chan on the set of ‘Dear John‘, and new pics of Jenna working on her upcoming films ‘Balls to the Wall‘ and ‘Legend of Hells Gate‘. Enjoy!!!
After wrapping on his crime thriller ‘Son of No One‘ in New York City and before he heads to Chicago to start filming his comedy ‘Cheaters‘ in June, Chan headed home to Los Angeles. JustJared.com, Faded Youth and X17Online just posted some new pics from this past weekend showing the happy couple exercising together at LA’s Runyon Canyon (one of their favorite places) with dogs Meeka and Lulu. Check out some of the new pics below…
Jared recently interviewed Jenna and she told him what she’d like to accomplish in the next 30 years…
“I’d love to really start my humanitarian efforts with animals and kids…It’s always been ’save the animals and save the kids’ for me…I’d like to maybe have my own foundation or start that in the future.”
Fans can see even more of yesterday’s photos of The Tatums in the CTU Photo Gallery.
Next up, we have two exclusive, behind-the-scenes pics of Chan sent to me by his ‘Dear John‘ co-star Mary Rachel Dudley. She played Savannah’s mom, Mrs. Curtis, in the film and wanted to share that Chan was “such a joy to work with”. Below, you can check out her cute photos of Chan on the set of ‘Dear John‘ with director Lasse Hallström and with Mary and her beautiful family.

And finally we have pics of Jenna with ‘Legend of Hells Gate‘ writer/actor/director Tanner Beard doing ADR (aka automatic dialogue replacement). During ADR, actors re-record lines spoken during filming to improve audio quality or reflect dialog changes…
‘Legend of Hells Gate‘ is currently in the post-production phase. Based on their official Twitter updates, they’re close to wrapping up editing and are in the process of completing the soundtrack with composer Lexie Beard and Space Radio Band.
Big thanks to Mary Rachel Dudley and Jenna for the great photos! NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum to Play a Recovering Addict in New Indie Drama
May 19, 2010
For those who are keeping score…this year Channing Tatum has already promoted and released the romantic drama ‘Dear John‘, wrapped on two new films (Steven Soderbergh’s action-revenge spy thriller ‘Knockout‘ and Dito Montiel’s crime thriller ‘Son of No One‘ with Al Pacino, Ray Liotta, and Katie Holmes), shot reshoots for Kevin MacDonald’s Roman drama ‘Eagle of the Ninth‘, executive produced and premiered the political documentary ‘Earth Made of Glass‘ at the Tribeca Film Festival and is prepping to take a long-awaited comedic turn in Ron Howard and Vince Vaughn’s ‘Cheaters‘, which he films next month. Not too bad, considering we’ve barely made it through the month of May.
As if all that wasn’t enough, the busy actor’s dance card just got a little more crowded…
Earlier this week, the newly formed, London-based Berkeley Square Films announced at the Cannes Film Festival that Chan will star in Richie Farrell’s inspirational detox drama ‘What’s Left of Us’, a hard-hitting chronicle of seven excruciating days in detox for a heroin addict.
Farrell, a former addict who directed the HBO documentary ‘High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell,‘ will adapt his own gritty novel “What’s Left of Us“, which is based on his true story.
Boston.com interviewed Farrell last year. In the article we learn how the author managed to fight his way back from a deep drug addiction to land on both bookstore shelves and the silver screen. You can read a snippet of the story below to get an idea of what kind of character Chan will be portraying…
Richard Farrell looks uneasy, gripping the steering wheel with both hands as he pulls up to St. Patrick’s Church. “This street was all dealers,’’ he says, stopping the car in the shadow of the granite steeple. “I scored two [expletive] bags of dope right here before giving the eulogy at my father’s funeral.’’ Farrell is well acquainted with the dark corners of the Mill City, where he was born and, more than once, almost died of an overdose. A former heroin addict, Farrell has put his grim experiences to good use, directing an award-winning documentary, “High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell,’’ and writing a gritty new memoir.
The book - whose title, “What’s Left of Us,’’ is tattooed in tiny script on the author’s left bicep - is Farrell’s story of getting straight with other rogues at a dreary state-run detox. It’s already drawn interest from filmmakers attracted to the book’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’’-like quality. “I had no ambition when I was growing up here, none,’’ says Farrell, driving past his childhood home in the working-class neighborhood known as The Acre. “It’s amazing I’m still here.’’ Life didn’t figure to be easy for Farrell, who barely survived his own birth 52 years ago. He came out feet first and, deprived of oxygen for several minutes, suffered brain damage that weakened the right side of his body.
Farrell’s domineering and abusive father, an English teacher at Lowell High School, was embarrassed by his son’s limp. “No kid of his was going to be a cripple,’’ says Farrell, who was forced to lift weights, run, and stretch everyday. The terrifying relationship with his father is the centerpiece of Farrell’s memoir, and it was one of the reasons he became an addict. He tried heroin for the first time the day his dad died in 1984. (He was already hooked on painkillers after a series of knee surgeries.) Three years later, at the age of 31, Farrell and a couple of his junkie friends huddled in an abandoned mill building and tried to kill themselves by overdosing.
Farrell’s heroin addiction nearly killed him. Luckily, he lived to write about it, and now Chan has been given this incredible opportunity to bring his story to life. Knowing how well Chan portrayed the troubled and violent Antonio in 2006’s critically-acclaimed and award-winning drama ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints‘, I have no doubt that this film has amazing potential.
BIG CONGRATS to Chan on landing yet another awesome new role!!!
