UPDATE: A True Survivor…The Story of Five Year Old Summer Moll
July 30, 2009
I’m very blessed that I get to do something I love here at CTU. The most amazing thing about doing this site is being able to help people when possible. I learned about 5-year old Summer Moll’s courageous story of loss and survival through one of CTU’s readers, and I shared that story with all of you here on CTU last month.
For those not familiar with the story…Four at the time, a September 10, 2008 crash left Summer critically injured when she and her mom were hit by a woman driving the wrong way on the Lee Roy Selmon Crosstown Expressway in the Tampa, Florida area with a 0.244 percent blood-alcohol level (nearly 3 times the legal limit). The driver currently faces multiple felony charges, including DUI-manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
Summer suffered a fractured skull and broken arms and legs. She has undergone more than eight surgeries, had casts on both arms, a brace on her neck, currently has pins in her legs, and has endured painful rehabilitation to learn how to walk all over again.
Summer’s family recently held an auction to raise money to help with her care and mounting medical bills. As I said in my previous post…“Everyone can’t do everything. But everyone can do something.” I want to thank all of the readers that have kept Summer in their thoughts and that donated to the auction.
With everyone’s help, they raised well over $50,000 and every bit of that money will go to Summer to help improve her quality of life as she works hard to rehabilitate and moves past an avoidable tragedy that took her mother, but did not take her unbeatable spirit.
I want to send a huge thanks to Chan and his mom Kay for quickly helping me get Chan’s auction item donations to Summer’s family. Summer’s grandmother and caregiver Tammy Rosian sent this message to Chan yesterday via CTU.com…
- “I am Summers grandmother and I would love to thank you and your family for all you have done. And Please if you are ever in Tampa please let us know. I would love for you to meet Summer. She is a wonderful little girl that once you meet her you will never forget her. Thank you” - Tammy
Summer’s family sent me the photos you see on this post and has graciously kept me updated on her progress since I first contacted them about donating to the auction. I’m happy to report that Summer is progressing well, but she has a long road of recovery ahead of her, so I ask that everyone continue to keep this beautiful little angel and her loving and supportive family in your prayers.
If you would like to make a donation to Summer’s trust, you can do this through the office of Mac Greco III, an attorney for Summer’s grandparents and caretakers Art and Tammy Rosian. Anyone wishing to donate can mail checks payable to Tammy Rosian as trustee of the Summer Moll trust to his office at 501 N. Morgan St., Suite 200, Tampa FL 33602.

VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Channing Tatum in Cinemash’s Hilarious ‘Dirty Dancing’ Parody
July 28, 2009
Today’s HI-larious Video of the Week features Channing Tatum and Charlyne Yi of ‘Knocked Up’ fame in Cinemash’s ‘Dirty Dancing’ parody, just released today via MSN. In the comedy skit an appealingly off-beat couple wax romantic and can’t stop moving to the music as they mix intimacy and hilarity in a scene from the megahit movie. Check out Chan in full-on Patrick Swayze mode…
Somebody get this man a romantic comedy, STAT!!!
If you enjoyed the skit, then here’s a behind-the-scenes video from the film shoot where it’s clear that Chan and Charlyne had a really hard time keeping a strait face during filming…
As I mentioned in a previous post, the “Cinemash” series of episodic video shorts, developed and distributed by Zune, give popular film and television actors the opportunity to reenact the roles they have always dreamed of playing.
Chan’s ‘Dirty Dancing’ “Cinemash” film short was directed by Nicholas Jasenovec and Kashy Khaledi and written by Charlyne Yi and Nicholas Jasenovec.
If you have a favorite video that you would like me to consider, send a link to the video to votw@channingtatumunwrapped.com and tell me why you like it. I will post it and your explanation on the blog.

IN THE PRESS: Channing Tatum and CTU Featured in July 2009 Italian Vogue
July 26, 2009
Channing Tatum’s action movie ‘Fighting‘ was released in South Africa and Iceland on July 24th and is scheduled to hit theaters in Italy some time this month too.
To celebrate the Italian release of the film, Vogue Italia interviewed Chan for an article in their July 2009 issue, which is currently on newsstands all around the world. In an unusual twist, they also interviewed me for Chan’s article to learn about CTU and Chan’s fans and requested a couple of CTU graphics I made for possible use in the article.
In the recent past, CTU graphics have been used in an Australian online magazine and on various websites, but this is the first time that a major publication has requested an interview and wanted to use a graphic, so I was really excited about the request.
I didn’t know if they would use any of the material or not until I received three copies of the magazine from Vogue and opened up the issue. I can’t even explain how cool it was to see my graphic used in the article!!!
More importantly, I can’t speak or read a lick of Italian, but could clearly understand the “Foto Q of ChanningTatumUnwrapped.com” photo credit in the right margin of the article. Needless to say, it’s a proud moment for me and CTU. You can check out the article for yourself below, and if you happen to read Italian, feel free to share your thoughts of the article…
‘Fighting‘ (aka ‘Hai! Ne Batem!‘) will next hit theaters in Romania on July 31, 2009.
In other news…Through the grapevine, I heard yesterday that Chan may be promoting his film ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ on Jimmy Fallon on August 4th. Stay tuned for more details…

Thanks to OK Magazine we have some new photos of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan as the newlyweds arrive in Paris on the next leg of Chan’s ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra’ press tour. You can check out all of the new photos from their arrival above.
Before leaving Paris, Jenna tweeted a photo of an adorable dog she met on the streets of Paris. One thing that’s hard to miss in the photo is her gorgeous wedding ring. As if he was reading our minds, wedding guest Adam Shankman was nice enough to provide a close up when he tweeted a sweet photo showing Chan and Jenna’s custom-made Neil Lane rings at the July 11th wedding. Enjoy…
Chan and Jenna are now in Tokyo, Japan for what I think may be a red carpet premiere on July 27th, and next they will continue the tour in Seoul, Korea on July 28th.
Then, it’s back to the states for a press event in New York (August 1st and 2nd), and finally, they will end the press tour in Los Angeles for the ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ red carpet premiere on August 6th. Check back daily for photos and appearance information from the events!!!
‘G.I. On a side note, Jen is a big fan of the show “So You Think You Can Dance and she tweeted about loving one of the performances from this week’s show. The moving piece features choreography by Tyce DiOrio, and highlights the struggle of a woman dealing with breast cancer and how it affects her partner.
It’s an amazingly powerful routine performed by dancers Melissa and Ade to Maxwell’s “This Woman’s Work” and brought everyone on the show (judges and all) to tears as they watched. Enjoy…
