Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Spotlight

March 31, 2009

In an effort to help CTU readers learn more about each other, once a month I profile one special Channing Tatum Unwrapped Fan Club member on the site and give them the “Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Spotlight” award.

It’s my pleasure to announce that this month’s Channing Tatum Unwrapped Fab Fan Spotlight is dedicated to Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Joselyn from California.

Here is what you should know about Joselyn:

Name:
Joselyn
Hometown:
Los Angeles
State/Country:
California

Fab Fan Spotlight Favorite Photos - JoselynFavorite Channing Tatum Picture and Why?:

I have 2 favorites. I love the 1st photo because Channing looks very classy. He looks like one of those polished, stylish men from the Hugo Boss ads. I love the 2nd photo because he and Jenna both look so happy with each other. The photo shows that Channing is a good boyfriend because you can see in his smile that he’s happy to be around Jenna and would do anything to make her happy.

Favorite Channing Tatum Movie and Why?:

She’s the Man‘, because it’s one of my favorite movies, & I loved his character, Duke Orsino. I think Channing did a really great job in that movie because he had great chemistry w/ the other actors and actresses. Plus, he showed that he’s really good at soccer.

Favorite Channing Tatum Scene and Why?:

The scene in ‘She’s the Man‘ when he & Amanda Bynes’s character Viola are in the dorm room, and he’s telling her how he thinks there’s more to a person than just how they look. Channing put a lot of feeling into the scene, so that it seemed really real. It also showed that he is a really great actor.

Favorite Channing Tatum Movie Quote and Why?:

“Be not afraid of greatness, some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.”- ‘She’s the Man‘. I like this quote because it’s kind of the turning point of the movie when his character (Duke) shows that he accepts Viola to be on his soccer team. It’s also cool how Channing can turn a Shakespeare quote into something amazing!

Favorite Upcoming Channing Tatum Movie Quote and Why?:

Public Enemies’ because it sounds really interesting. Plus, there are a TON of other great actors & actresses in that movie!

Have you ever met Channing?:

No, but I would love to! He’s on my list of ‘must meet’ actors.

Why are you a Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan?:

I think Channing is a really talented actor and dancer. ‘She’s the Man‘ is the 1st movie I’ve seen him in, and I thought he was *fabulous* in it! I also love how he doesn’t act in movies just for the fame. He seems like a really modest and down-to-earth kind of person. I admire how he uses his fame to raise awareness for the less fortunate, like with the Rock4Change project.

Thanks, Joselyn, for letting me profile you and for taking the time to share all of your info with the other readers!

As the subject of the Fab Fan Spotlight, Joselyn will receive an exclusive, custom-made 12 month calendar featuring Channing Tatum courtesy of Channing Tatum Unwrapped!!!

Finally, Joselyn’s Fab Fan Spotlight profile will soon be added on the right side of the blog so other Channing Fans can learn about her from any page. Feel free to send your congrats to Joselyn in the comments on this entry!

Do you want to be featured in an upcoming Fab Fan Spotlight? I will choose and interview a Channing Tatum Unwrapped Fan Club member each month. CASTING NEWS: Channing Tatum May Star in Roman Military Drama ‘The Eagle of the Ninth’

March 31, 2009

Channing Tatum at the 'Sugar' Premiere in Los Angeles (Wallpaper)

Channing Tatum has a ton of potential projects in the works, and Variety just reported some casting news on one of them.

Director Kevin Macdonald is set to turn the UK’s classic 1954 novel, The Eagle of the Ninth, into a film, starring Jamie Bell and (possibly) Channing Tatum, if he decides to take the role.

Movie news site Ropeofsilicon.com says…

“The film is a Roman adventure set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. In 135 A.D., fifteen years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila [possibly played by Channing Tatum] arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out across Hadrian’s Wall into the uncharted High Lands of Caledonia – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the lost legion’s golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth.”

You can read the Variety article in it’s entirety below to learn more about a new role that Channing is reportedly considering…

‘Eagle’ enlisting Kevin Macdonald

Director takes on Roman military drama

By MICHAEL FLEMING

Helmer Kevin Macdonald will follow “State of Play” by directing the Roman military drama “The Eagle of the Ninth.”

Focus Features has signed to distribute domestically and sell offshore distribution rights for the pic, set to begin production in August.

Jamie Bell is set to star in the 2nd century A.D. tale, and Channing Tatum is in talks to join him. Script is by Jeremy Brock, who teamed with Macdonald on “The Last King of Scotland.”

Duncan Kenworthy is producing through his Toledo Prods. banner. Financing will come through the Focus deal and equity funding from Film 4, which will get U.K. broadcasting rights as part of its deal.

The story revolves around a wounded Roman soldier and his loyal Celtic slave who try to solve the mystery of the Ninth Legion, a brigade of Roman soldiers that vanished after heading into the untamed Highlands of Scotland 15 years earlier.

Hungarian locations will stand in for 2nd century England, while the Scottish scenes will be filmed in Scotland.

Bell is set to play the slave, while Tatum has been offered the lead but has not yet committed.

Macdonald’s “State of Play” will be released on April 17 by Universal Pictures, with Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren starring.

Kenworthy, who last produced “Love Actually,” also is producing an Emma Thompson-scripted remake of “My Fair Lady” that will star Keira Knightley, with Danny Boyle reportedly mulling the directing assignment.

As always, congrats to Chan on possibly adding this new role to his continually growing list of projects!!!

New Official Website for Channing Tatum's 'Fighting': Photos

I have added all of the new wallpapers and AIM icons to the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Photo Gallery. You can check them out below or CLICK HERE to download them.

I think the new site looks awesome, and I really like how it shows tons of clips from the film on every page. It’s now one of my favorite sites from Channing’s films, so I hope you all check it out!!!

I also have some even BIGGER news that I can officially announce to CTU readers…

Channing Tatum and CTU Webmaster Q on New York Set of 'Fighting'As you may or may not know, I was lucky enough to visit the New York City set of ‘Fighting‘ in 2007, and from that day, I hoped and prayed that I would somehow be able to attend the premiere when the movie was released.

I have now gotten official confirmation that Universal Pictures is not only going to allow me to report from next month’s New York-only premiere for ‘Fighting‘, but I will also be shadowing Channing through part of the Los Angeles press junket next week where he will be promoting the film to the media!!!

For those who don’t know, a press junket is when interviewers all come on the same day to a certain place to interview the star (or sometimes stars) of a film. It’s basically a day where Channing and other actors from ’Fighting‘ will have a ton of back to back interviews to help the media learn more about the movie.

Normally, when I go on these kind of trips, you all have to wait until I return to hear about the experience. I decided to tweak that process a bit this year, and I hope you all like the idea as much as I do…

My goal is to give you all an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at what goes on at a press junket and a premiere REAL-TIME!!! To do that, I will be live-blogging news and photos via Channing Tatum’s official Twitter at both of the events.

I may even use a cool new tool called BubbleTweet to send you all video from the events if I have time. You can CLICK HERE to see an example of what I’m talking about. I will also recap my trips in traditional blog posts when I return to give you all of the details that I could not share on Twitter.

I know what you’re thinking. Why does Q get to have all of the fun? Well, I want you all to be a part of my trip too. If you’re a member of the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Fan Club and would like me to ask Channing a question for you at the junket, then here’s what you do…

Fan clubs members can email ONE question to fanquestions@channingtatumunwrapped.com with your real name and your fan club user name by next Thursday April 2, 2009. I will choose some of the questions and answer them on Twitter during the press junket, so make sure to follow us so you don’t miss a thing!

If you’re not a member of the fan club yet, then what are you waiting for? CLICK HERE to join for FREE and make sure you get in those questions ASAP.

Stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped where Chan’s fans get to go where no other fan has gone before!!!

NEWS FLASH: New Release Dates and Cast Info for Channing Tatum’s ‘Dear John’

March 26, 2009

Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in 'Dear John'

I have new release dates to share with you all for Channing Tatum’s romantic drama ‘Dear John‘. Although I’m sure the list is going to grow over the next year, we now know when the film is going to hit the theaters in the US, Norway, and the Netherlands. Here are the new release dates that can also be found on the CTU Calendar:

  • United States: February 5, 2010
  • Netherlands: February 18, 2010
  • Norway: March 5, 2010

Dear John‘ is adapted from the Nicholas Sparks novel Dear John, which follows the love story between an idealistic college student and enlisted American soldier. The film stars Channing Tatum as John Tyree, Amanda Seyfried as Savannah Lynn Curtis and has a strong supporting cast that includes Richard Jenkins, Henry Thomas, Scott Porter, Leslea Fisher, Keith Robinson, and Cullen Moss. ‘Dear John‘ is also directed by two-time Oscar nominated director, Lasse Hallstrom.

'Dear John' Cast: Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried, Scott Porter, and Henry Thomas

A crew member who worked on the film was recently asked about the chemistry between the actors during filming. Here’s what they had to say about Channing and his co-stars…

“Channing is very nice, playful with the film crew and seemed to me to be acting the part of John very well…Amanda is very sweet, sort of quiet and nice to everyone on the set. She worked pretty hard to get things right (for instance she took riding lessons just outside Charleston for the horse scenes). Henry is thoughtful, caring and was also very nice to everyone. He would go out of his way to spend time with visitors to the set and when he worked with the 6 year old with autism (Braeden, who played Alan), he was a natural and developed a great relationship on-camera that will be clear in the film. The only chemistry I saw was professional. The actors sometime joked around with each other but mostly it was work, work, work!”

The film wrapped production last December, but during the nine-week shoot around Charleston, South Carolina, locations such as Edisto Island, The Citadel, the North Charleston Air Force Base, Fort Moultrie, Botany Bay, private plantation homes, businesses and town parks provided unique backdrops for the movie and doubled for sites like Africa, Afghanistan and Germany.

Jenna Dewan’s ‘The Jerk Theory’ Helps a Little Girl’s Dreams Come True

March 24, 2009

Official Poster for Jenna Dewan's 'The Jerk Theory'As I previously reported, Channing Tatum’s 2010 romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ chose to cast an autistic child to play the role of Alan in the film, both for authenticity and to show how capable those with autism can be.

Similarly, Jenna Dewan’s 2009 romantic comedy ‘The Jerk Theory‘ chose to cast a child with Down Syndrome (which is a chromosomal disorder) in the role of Kate, who is the sister to Josh Henderson’s character Adam in the film.

The Jerk Theory‘ is about an aspiring recording artist named Adam (Josh Henderson). When he is burned by a bad relationship experience, he decides that if women won’t respond to the “nice guy”, then he’ll be “the jerk.” He is extremely successful with meaningless relationships, but when Adam meets and falls for Molly (Jenna Dewan’s), who doesn’t fall for his jerk routine, Adam is forced to reconsider his dating philosophy.

Solidifying the fact that those living with disabilities can truly be an asset to the acting community, the role of Kate is played by Lily Smith, an adorable, active, and bubbly ten-year-old girl with Down Syndrome.

In the touching new video created by New Zealand-based Disability TV, we not only get to see some clips from the movie and get to learn more about the film, but we also get a glimpse into an amazing child’s life where she is beating the odds and following her dreams despite the battle she has been fighting since before she was even born…

The Jerk Theory‘ is supposed to hit theaters some time later this year.
