February 28, 2009

Channing Tatum Official Site

Thanks to all of the Fabulous Fans around the world who entered the 2nd Annual Channing Tatum Unwrapped BIGGEST Fan Contest and took the time to vote for the Top 3 BIGGEST Fans!!!

To recap, I initially chose Channing’s Top 10 BIGGEST Fans from all of your entries. Then, CTU readers voted to choose Channing’s Top 3 BIGGEST Fans. The top 3 fans have won an exclusive autographed drawing of Channing Tatum!!!

Like last year, Chan’s awesome family made the very difficult final choice, so I again have to thank them for taking the time to help me with this contest. Without further ado, Channing’s 2009 BIGGEST Fan is…

Name: Brandi

City: Deepwater

State: New Jersey / USA

Age: 32

Social Networking:
MYSPACE (Personal), MYSPACE (Channing Tatum Fan Site)

Why Did Channing’s Family Choose Brandi?: Channing Tatum’s mother Kay had this to say, “Our choice from the “Top Three” would be Brandi from New Jersey. All of Chan’s fans are amazing… it is so hard to chose. They are all “Tops” in our hearts. We know Brandi has been a loyal fan from the very beginning and it really shows. We are so truly blessed to have such wonderful people that care so much.”

Favorite Channing Tatum Picture and Why?: I have many fave photos of Chan but the ones that stick out the most for me are the ones of him and Jenna. I think they are the most beautiful couple. In the photo that I chose you can just see the way he’s looking at her, like shes the most beautiful girl in the world..so much love in his eyes. Shes just laughing and smiling and you can tell that this man lights up her entire world! Its just a beautiful picture!!

Favorite Channing Tatum Movie and Why?: Although I love them all, I have to say Step Up. Its the first movie I ever saw with Chan in it. My best friend wanted to go see it and I wasn’t really interested but I saw it had this really hot guy in it so I agreed to go. When Chan’s opening scene came on, my mouth dropped to the floor! That was the moment for me. Before I got home that day, I stopped and bought Shes the Man! Besides this being the movie I first discovered Channing, I love the story line, he and Jenna had awesome chemistry in it and its just a really great dance movie.

Favorite Channing Tatum Scene and Why?: Definitely the scene in Stop-loss with Channing and Ryan in the cemetary after Tommy’s funeral. I think Channing really did an incredible job in this scene. When he’s crying and pleading with Brandon to explain things to him, it’s a very powerful scene and Channings character sucks you in and you sit there feeling every bit of emotion he’s feeling.

I’m going with the same quote I chose last year and that is the one from Step Up with Tyler and Nora back stage. “I’m fighting for something that’s real for the first time in my life” It’s my fave, because at this point in the movie, I had fallen in love with Tyler’s character and with him and Nora as a couple. Tyler finally realizes he has something really great going for him. I think alot of people, including myself have actually been in a similar postion before so we can relate to how hes feeling in that moment.

Favorite Upcoming Channing Tatum Movie and Why?: Oh definitely Fighting and Dear John! Hands Down!! I have to be honest about Fighting besides loving the storyline I have to say that Channing looks sooo hot in the Fighting Trailer, everything from his buff bod to his hair, I love him with all that hair on his head!! Its also the movie that Q from CTU got to sit in on for a day. All of us CTU readers got an inside view on her day on set so that makes me even more anxious to see this film. Dear John is a film Im extremely excited to see because its the first “romance” film Channing is going to be in. Its a really different role from what we are uses to seeing him play and besides that I love the book!!

Have you ever met Channing?: I’m sad to say no I have not met Channing. My best friend and I tried back in October when Channing was filming Dear John in SC. We took a long weekend and drove down to Isle of Palms to celebrate my birthday. Filming hadn’t started yet when we were there. We knew Channing was in the area but it would have been like finding a needle in a hay stack. We did find out that around the 21st of October Channing filmed on the beach of Isle of Palms. We missed him by about two weeks :( I’m still holding out hope that my moment will come on day.

Why are you a Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan?: In the beginning, I had this “idea” of who I thought Channing was as a person. Over the last two and a half years I have found that everything I thought he was, is exactly who he is. He’s down to earth, extremely funny, caring, sweet and respectful of his fans and anyone around him. He takes the time to sign autographs, takes pictures with fans, chats with them etc… He always seems to be on top of the world. Being an avid CTU reader has really made me see that Channing is a real person inside and out. He doesn’t fall into that “Hollywood trap”, he stays grounded and continues to be who he is regardless of all the pressures out there. He doesn’t let Hollywood change him in anway. For that I think Channing deserves everything good that life has to offer. I also have to say the same about Jenna even though this is a “Channing fan” contest. She’s adorable and I love them both! I wish he and Jenna all the happiness in the world! They both deserve every bit of it. This is why I am a Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan!!

In addition to the autographed photo and at least a year’s worth of bragging rights, Brandi will also win the following prizes:

If you didn’t make it this year, no worries. We will be holding this same contest every January. Like Brandi, make sure to join the fan club and get or stay involved in the CTU community to increase your chances of winning.

Also, I will be saving all of this year’s entries and may use some of them for future Fabulous Fan Spotlights on the site, so be on the lookout for those each month starting in March.

CONGRATS TO BRANDI,
CHANNING TATUM’S 2009 BIGGEST FAN!!!

IN THE PRESS: First Look at Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in ‘Dear John’

February 27, 2009

FIRST LOOK: Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried in 'Dear John'Since Channing Tatum’s romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ tops the list of upcoming movies that CTU readers are most excited to see, I’m sure many of you will also be excited to check out the first promotional photo from Screen Gems courtesy of a new USA Today article.

We do learn one other important tidbit from the article that I’m not sure fans will be quite as happy about…Previously, I reported that ‘Dear John‘ may be released in early 2010 instead of late 2009, because both Channing Tatum and his love interest in the film, Amanda Seyfried of ‘Mamma Mia!’, already had a large number of films coming out this year.

Although the reason for the move is not mentioned, USA Today is now confirming the change in release date. I’m sorry to say, but fans will have to wait until 2010 to see ‘Dear John‘ hit theaters. You can read the article (which also includes a short interview with Channing) in it’s entirety below:

Tatum’s ‘Dear John’: A love letter to soldiers

- By Scott Bowles

If it looks as if Channing Tatum has gone military lately, there’s good reason.
After starring in last year’s Iraq war drama Stop-Loss, “I sort of became infatuated with soldiers,” he says. “I got to know some of them and got a little perturbed with Hollywood making a spectacle out of them and making them look like they have screwed up somehow.”

So he enlisted for Dear John, based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel about a soldier who falls for a college student. It’s out in 2010.

Tatum says he was moved to take another military role because he felt uncomfortable with his part in Stop-Loss.

“Everything that was coming out of my mouth, I didn’t believe. A solider is so noble in my mind.”

In John, Tatum plays “just a good guy who falls in love. The military is simply his job. He could have done anything for a living. But I wanted the part because it portrays them as real, everyday people.”

Not that all of his soldiers will be Everyman characters. His next stint? G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

RUMOR OR REEL?: Trailer for Channing Tatum’s ‘Public Enemies’ Gets a Solid Release Date

February 26, 2009

Promotional Stills for Channing Tatum's 'Public Enemies' (Wallpaper)On the heels of the 9 second micro-trailer we saw at the end of the Oscars telecast last Sunday, it looks like we may finally get the full ‘Public Enemies‘ trailer we’ve all been waiting for…

Thanks to the Italian movie site Screen Week we have learned that the highly-anticipated trailer for Channing Tatum, Johnny Depp, and Christian Bale’s historical drama ‘Public Enemies‘ may be released as early as next week.

Assuming my translator is correct, the site is reporting that the trailer will debut online on March 4th on Apple.com. In Italy, fans will be able to view the trailer exclusively on MSN that same day.

Although I’m sure we’ll be seeing it before other films in the future, the trailer will initially be attached to the new comic-book adaptation ‘Watchmen‘ when it releases in US theaters on March 6th.

It’s my understanding that the trailer release news was also confirmed by the Russian distributor of the film, so I’m thinking this has gone far beyond the rumor stage and has leaped it’s way into “reel” territory.

In other potential ‘Public Enemies‘ news…The word on the street via the UK’s Daily Mail is that the selection committee of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival is taking a trip to Los Angeles, California soon to see a rough cut of the movie to decide where it might fit at the May festival of all film festivals. Rumor has it that ‘Public Enemies‘ may be bestowed the honor of being the opening film or may be a special premiere during the annual film festival. I’ve heard that a decision will be made some time in April, so I’ll keep you posted.

So if the rumors are correct, be on the look out for the new ‘Public Enemies‘ trailer on Wednesday, March 4th, 2009, and as always, I will post it on CTU as soon as I can get my hands on it.

Public Enemies‘ hits US theaters on July 1, 2009 and Italian theaters on October 2, 2009. Fans can CLICK HERE to get a current list of international release dates for the film.

UPDATE: I have been told by someone that has seen the trailer that Channing’s character Pretty Boy Floyd does make an appearance! :-)

IN THE PRESS: Channing Tatum and ‘Public Enemies’ Chosen as 2010 Oscar Contenders

February 25, 2009

Channing Tatum's Film 'Public Enemies' with Johnny Depp As many of you know, the 2009 Oscar winners were just announced on Sunday, but weeks before those little accountant-stuffed envelopes were opened and the ‘Slumdog Millionaire’s hit the stage 8 times to accept every award you could think of, film sites were already predicting which movies may be award contenders in 2010.

I was happy to see that Channing Tatum’s drama ‘Public Enemies‘ was on the shortlist as a potential Oscar nominee in all of the articles I read about the 2010 predictions.

The experts feel that the movie could garner nominations for Best Picture, Best Director for Michael Mann, Best Actor for Johnny Depp and/or Christian Bale, and below you will find snippets of an article from the Times Online in the UK that picks our very own Channing Tatum as a possible contender for Best Supporting actor for his role as Pretty Boy Floyd…

Who’s tipped for Oscars in 2010?

Somewhere out there there’s a low-budget underdog story that may just sweep the board again - By Wendy Ide

Next year’s winners may be determined by a set of variables other than the usual factors of box-office and critical acclaim. The worse the financial downturn, the more likely the Academy is to reward feel-good, optimistic crowd-pleasers. This, and the fact that Iraq movies have trouble finding an audience, may rule out the usual Academy favourites Jim Sheridan and Paul Greengrass, for Brothers and Green Zone respectively. Stories of courage should do well, so watch out for Hilary Swank playing the female aviator Amelia Earhart in Mira Nair’s Amelia. But there’s a year to go and the race is wide open. And somewhere out there there’s a low-budget underdog story that may just sweep the board again…

Public Enemies (released July 3, 2009 in the UK)

Johnny Depp and Christian Bale star in Michael Mann’s 1930s gangster movie. Depp’s turn as violent gangster John Dillinger is a departure for an actor who has been increasingly cast in the likeable maverick role.

But the award goes to: Channing Tatum for Best Supporting Psychotic Pretty Boy…

If all of their predictions pan out, Chan will be in extremely good company, because they also chose the following films as 2010 potential nominees in many of the other categories:

  • Rob Marshall’s ‘Nine’ with Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Sophia Loren
  • Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lovely Bones’
  • Clint Eastwood’s ‘The Human Factor’ with Morgan Freeman
  • Martin Scorsese’s ‘Shutter Island’ with Leonardo DiCaprio
  • Will Colette’s ‘Chéri’ with Michelle Pfeiffer
  • The Coen Brother’s ‘A Serious Man’
  • Pedro Almódovar’s ‘Broken Embraces’ with Penélope Cruz
  • Zack Snyder’s ‘Watchmen’
  • Ang Lee and James Schamus’ ‘Taking Woodstock’ with Demetri Martin, Emile Hirsch, and Paul Dano

As melodramatic as it may sound, the road to the Oscars is not an easy one and is definitely paved in the blood, sweat, and tears of the producers, directors, actors, and below-the-liners that work extremely hard to make the films, so it would be amazing to see Channing and/or this film among the nominees and winners next year.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that the same talent that won Channing a Special Jury Prize at Sundance and a 2007 Film Independent Spirit Award nomination for his role as Antonio in ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints‘ will also lead him to a future Oscar nod.

Fans can watch the Oscar contenders (both Channing Tatum and ‘Public Enemies‘) when the movie hits theaters on July 1st in the US and July 3rd in the UK. You can CLICK HERE to get a current list of international release dates on the CTU Calendar.
