CHANNING TATUM MOVIE BYTES: ‘Public Enemies’, ‘G.I. Joe’, and ‘Battle in Seattle’

PUBLIC ENEMIES

Channing Tatum, Johnny Depp, and Christian Bale’s historical drama ‘Public Enemies‘ had it’s second official test screening on December 3rd, but this time is was at Regal Lloyd 10 Theater in Portland, Oregon. A couple of the attendees felt that it will be a really strong film and posted their thoughts of the screening at Aintitcool.com. Fans can CLICK HERE to read what they had to say. The hope was that the highly-anticipated trailer for the film would be “attached” ,as they say, to Ron Howard’s new movie ‘Frost/Nixon‘ when it had its limited release last Friday (December 5th).

‘Frost/Nixon‘ played in both New York and Los Angeles, and trailers for ‘Duplicity’, ‘The Wrestler’, and at least one other film were shown before the movie. Sadly, the ’Public Enemies‘  trailer was a no-show.  The word on the street is that the trailer will be shown when ’Frost/Nixon‘ has its wide release on December 25th, so fans should be on the lookout.  

Although the trailer is being released quite early, ’Public Enemies‘ is not set to hit US theaters until July 1, 2009.

G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA

‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ also had a test screening of sorts, but this time it was for the trailer instead of the entire film. A reporter from the movie site NuketheFridge.com was invited to the trailer test screening and had this to say…

“The trailer begins with some jets zooming by and dropping some bombs.  Then we see Dennis Quaid as Hawk talking to members of a new elite fighting force he says has been put together to fight terrorism.  We see a couple of terrorist attacks, some G.I. Joe guys dressed like Snake Eyes jumping out of a plane, and the Eiffel tower being toppled by what looks like some green ooze.  Next we see some quick shots of a number of characters like Scarlett, Channing Tatum’s Duke on a motorcycle, Sienna Miller as the Baroness sliding down a staircase railing, and a quick shot of Snake Eyes and Stormshadow fighting…In all the trailer was about a minute long.  I was told they are testing the trailer for debut as a possible Super Bowl commercial.”  

He suspects the first teaser trailer could be released during the Super Bowl…when only almost the entire tv owning world is watching.  Not too shabby (if it’s true)!  We may not know the exact release date of the trailer, but we do know ’G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra‘ is scheduled to hit theaters on August 7, 2009. And knowing is half the battle…

BATTLE IN SEATTLE

I recently let you all know that the DVD for ‘Battle in Seattle‘ had been released in a few countries overseas. I’m now hearing that they will be announcing a DVD release date for the US very soon.
