Thanks to all of Channing Tatum’s Fabulous Fans that entered the latest CTU contest. Since Jon Chu was nice enough to send me an ACDC shirt, I can now give away both of the shirts I have to two lucky CTU readers.
The lucky winners of the limited edition ACDC shirts are…
from Bad Wildungen, Germany
and
Steve S.
from Placerville, California
For those ACDC fans who did not win a shirt, you can also still go to InvisibleChildren.com to buy one and all of the proceeds will be donated to the children’s charity.
Check back on June 10, 2008 at 7PM Pacific to see the next video in the online dance battle between ACDC and Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s M&M Cru. In addition to Channing Tatum Unwrapped, you can also check out the new M&M Cru official website, Miley and Mandy’s YouTube channel, and Jon Chu’s YouTube channel to stay on top of the battle.
Since I’m now equipped with my new shirt thanks to Jon, I guess I can officially say that I’m down with ACDC. In this no rules battle, I figure if Miley Cyrus can have Channing and Jenna (for now), there’s no rule that says ACDC can’t have Q.

New Photos of Channing Tatum’s Girlfriend Jenna Dewan at ‘Zohan’ Premiere Last Night
May 30, 2008
Based on what I’ve been told, I’m fairly certain that Channing Tatum is still filming ‘G.I. Joe‘ in the Czech Republic right now. So although both Channing and his girlfriend Jenna Dewan were invited to last night’s Los Angeles, California premiere of ‘You Don’t Mess With The Zohan‘, only Jenna was able to come out and support her good friend Emmanuelle Chriqui who stars in the Adam Sandler comedy.
The star-studded premiere was held last night at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California, and we have a ton of new photos of Jenna looking gorgeous as usual on the red carpet. You can check out some of the high quality photos below, and you will find over 40 more photos in the Channing Tatum Unwrapped Photo Gallery. Enjoy!!!
Jenna is extremely busy this year. Lifetime Television has moved up the premiere of her new movie ‘Fab Five: Texas Cheerleader Scandal‘ to Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 9pm ET/PT. You can CLICK HERE to learn more about it.
I also recently read that her upcoming romantic comedy ‘The Jerk Theory’ with ‘Step Up‘ co-star Josh Henderson is almost complete and is set to release this year. Finally, be on the lookout for the newly renamed thriller ‘Shine On‘ (aka ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Out of the Bronx’, and ‘My Life’) and the Tim Allen comedy ‘The Six Wives of Henry Lefay‘ .
As I mentioned previously on the blog, Jenna will be awarded the Limelight Award at the annual Gabriella Axelrad Education Foundation Gala Saturday night (May 31, 2008). You can CLICK HERE for all of the details if you would like to attend the event.
Stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped, and I’ll make sure to keep everyone updated on all of Jenna’s projects and appearances.
ACDC Releases New Outtakes Video and Tells M&M Cru to "Step Yo Game Up"
May 29, 2008
Director Jon M. Chu and his adorable pooch Monster from the overnight sensation ACDC have released another extremely entertaining outtake video from the dance crew’s ongoing online battle with Miley Cyrus’ M&M Cru. Here’s what Jon has to say about the new video:
“As we await the M&M “GINMORMOUS” video that they have promised…Our Adam/Chu Dance Crew Dog, Monster, speaks from the heart…and reveals some more JUICY OUTTAKES from the ACDC dance battle challenge…”
Jon recently mentioned to me and I quote…“We’re gonna get our boy back…don’t you worry ;)” Whatever plan they have cooking, I hope that it includes Jenna Dewan too. If ACDC is somehow able to steal our favorite couple Chenna away from the M&M Cru, all will be right with the world!!! No rules means NO RULES and as Jon says, CREW ASSEMBLE!!!!
Just to remind everyone, ACDC fans make sure to enter the latest Channing Tatum Unwrapped contest to win a free shirt!!!
I’m excited to let you all know that Jon was nice enough to send me another shirt, so now I’ll be giving away TWO ACDC shirts (instead of just one) to two lucky CTU readers. CLICK HERE to get more details and enter the contest on or before the May 30th deadline (thats this Friday for those without a calendar handy). You can also still go to InvisibleChildren.com to buy a shirt and all of the proceeds will be donated to the children’s charity.
Finally, stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped for the M&M Cru’s highly-anticipated dance battle response on June 10, 2008 at 7PM Pacific.
Why Director Kimberly Peirce Chose Channing Tatum for ‘Stop-Loss’
May 28, 2008
Channing Tatum’s drama ‘Stop-Loss‘, where he plays a career soldier who’s dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder after completing a tour in Iraq, will be released on DVD and Blue-Ray on July 8, 2008.
From what I can tell, the ‘Stop-Loss’ DVD will include the following extras on both the US and international versions:
- Commentary by Director Kimberly Peirce and Co-Writer Mark Richard
- The Making Of Stop-Loss
- A Day In Boot Camp Featurette
- 11 Deleted Scenes
I also found an article at Moviehole.net where they interviewed ‘Stop-Loss‘ director Kimberly Peirce. In the article snippet below, she describes how and why she hired Channing for the role of SGT. Steve Shriver. My favorite part is when we learn about a very special nickname that Chan’s mom Kay used to call him when he was growing up. Get all of the details below…
“…I had a wonderful time finding Channing to play Sgt. Steve Shriver. Channing came in after a long day of auditioning. He had been in a few movies. I think one was Coach Carter, which I hadn’t seen, the others hadn’t come out. It generally doesn’t matter for me when auditioning whether I’ve seen an actor’s prior work. I like to see what they feel like and what they can do in the room.Channing was hunky, good-looking and masculine. And he had that spark of charisma and anger and confidence that allowed him to be the guy that just might charge into that house in the combat scene to go after the insurgent who was firing on his best buddy Sergeant King (Ryan), and he could be the guy who ended up digging a ranger grave in his front yard, who shot up the wedding cards off the wedding gifts with his buddies, and who re-signed up with the military because being with his comrades and at war made more sense than being at home. Channing had all the passion, emotion and physicality we needed and talent to fully embody the role. He did break dancing for me at the end of the first audition.
Channing and I worked together a total of three times, twice in LA and once in NY before I cast him. On the final audition he told me he would do whatever it would take to perform the part. I said that was important to playing “STEVE,” since he was a believer, someone who put himself totally into what he did. We worked together for a few hours and sent the tape of our work to Scott Rudin. Scott called the studio. I called the studio. And they let us cast him. I was thrilled. He was pure physicality and charm.
On set, Channing was sheer energy, willing to try anything, go anywhere emotionally and bare himself – his vulnerability, his sense of dignity and his feelings of brotherhood for the other men. Channing is a lovely person, a wonderful actor, generous to his fellow actors, and a good friend.
At some point in production, I needed some pictures of Channing as a kid to flesh out our portrait of SGT. STEVE SHRIVER. His mother sent me a whole batch of images – him doing a kind of handstand at 3 years old, him with tons of muscles, him in football gear. He told me she called him “CHANIMAL.” Which I thought was great because I had called him “MANIMAL,” my “MAN,” “ANIMAL.”…”
Finally, I found a newly posted interview that Channing Tatum and his ‘Stop-Loss‘ co-star Ryan Phillippe did for The Big Story when they were promoting the film. You can CLICK HERE to watch the video, or you can check it out below. Enjoy!

NEWS FLASH: New Website, Photos, and MySpace Profiles for Channing Tatum’s ‘Battle in Seattle’
May 25, 2008
Channing Tatum’s upcoming drama ‘Battle in Seattle‘ had a successful premiere at the opening of the Seattle International Film Festival last week.
Director Stuart Townsend and actors Andre Benjamin (aka Andre 3000 of OutKast), Martin Henderson, Charlize Theron, and Michelle Rodriguez took part in the event that was attended by almost 3000 festival-goers. Channing Tatum fans should make sure to add the new profile the film created for Channing’s character Johnson as a friend on MySpace. The picture at the top of this post is one of the newly released photos you will find in the profile’s photo gallery showing Chan in his riot cop gear.

In addition to the theatrical release of his drama ‘Fighting‘ on the 26th, he is also supposed to start filming his romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ and ‘Battle in Seattle‘ is currently scheduled to have it’s highly-anticipated release in September 2008 too; giving fans a lot to look forward to this fall.
CTU EXCLUSIVE: News on Channing Tatum’s Upcoming Drama ‘Fighting’
May 24, 2008
It was really exciting to get an update on Channing Tatum’s 2009 romantic drama ‘Dear John‘ this past week, but I have some equally exciting news about Channing’s upcoming film ‘Fighting‘ too. News you can only get here on CTU…
Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Bernice wrote me the following email that is the basis for my excitement:
First off I want to start of by saying that I love your site! I think your doing an amazing job. I want to write you a message to let you know that I saw an advanced screening of Channing’s new movie “Fighting”! He did such a great job. I also noticed that you have a photo of him from the set, your very lucky! I love love love your site! Thanks for all the updates and keeping us, all the fans up with all the news!
Sincerely ,
Bernice V.
Inside Scoop on the Screening
If you know anything about me, then you will not be surprised that I quickly put my interviewer cap on to get the goods on the screening. Bernice was nice enough to give us the inside scoop. Here’s what Bernice had to say about the first official screening of ‘Fighting‘:
Where and when did you watch the screening of Channing Tatum’s movie ‘Fighting’?
I saw the screening on May 7, 2008 in the city of Northridge in California at the Pacific Theater.
How did you get invited to the screening?
I went to the movies to watch “Maid of Honor”, and then I noticed a man giving out free movie tickets for advanced screenings. At first, I wasn’t really interested, but then out of nowhere he flipped over his clip board and I saw Channing’s face on the board. So my sister and I immediately said yes and that’s how it happened!
Was it a test screening? Did they ask you to give feedback about the movie afterwards?
I do believe it was a test screening, because they told the whole audience that we were the first audience in the country to watch the movie. We had to fill out the question form after the movie was over.
Did the director or any of the actors attend?
Sad to say I don’t think Channing was there! I looked for him everywhere because I know sometimes the actors do attend, but there was no sign of him or anyone else. There were a bunch of directors there, but they came in once the movie had already started, so it was hard to tell who they were.
Did they mention a target release date for the film?
They didn’t really mention a date of release. They just said that they were still in the process of finishing the film by editing it and changing a couple things depending on the response of the audience.
What did you think about Channing’s performance and about the film in general?
I think Chan did an amazing job in this film. He really committed to his role. During the fighting scenes and throughout the film you can see his determination and his desire to win. I think he did an outstanding job in his role. We haven’t seen him in a role like this until now, and I’m sure well see him in many more. He also looked very fit and well trained for the role. The film was also great. I like the story line; it was a bit original. I also like how the love story wasn’t too forced or overdone. It was just right. The atmosphere in the movie was great. Overall the movie and all of the actors were amazing!
Peter, who went to a screening the next day at the same theater, had the following to say about the film:
“I saw this tonight [May 8, 2008] at a pre-screening…When I found out it was directed by the guy who did “A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints”, I knew it probably wouldn’t be as run of the mill as usual. I was right. The movie has some of the most “electric” fight scenes in recent memory that literally put you on the edge of your seat…The interaction between the characters is authentic and there are little idiosyncratic things added in similar to “Saints”. It’s a great movie that I recommend to anyone who likes Underdog stories where the fight scenes are not run of the mill and straight forward.
The movie has some of the biggest crowd reactions that I’ve heard, spontaneous applause wise and there were at least 5 times when that happened. And on top of that, people were reacting to every movement in certain fight scenes, it was definitely a great movie going experience, audience participation wise.
There is one scene involving a famous martial artist that had the entire audience yelling and clapping - the ENTIRE audience. I’ve never seen people so enthused in a theater - maybe AS enthused, but never more. If they market this correctly, it could be a sleeper hit. Terrence Howard is great and Luis Guzman as well. Channing Tatum…There’s one scene where he loses it that is raw power by definition.
I was part of a focus group afterwards and when asked to raise their hands if they liked the movie, all 24 people raised their hands…”
CTU On the Set of ‘Fighting’
From what Bernice and Peter had to say about the film, it looks like we have yet another amazing Channing Tatum performance to look forward to when ‘Fighting‘ has its theatrical release on September 26, 2008.
If you’ve been reading CTU for a while, then you already know why I’m excited about the release of this film. It’s the only movie set I have ever visited, and I got to meet Channing for the first time when he invited me to spend an unforgettable day on the New York set with him and the cast and crew of ‘Fighting‘. I can’t wait to see if the scene I watched makes it into the film. CLICK HERE if you want to read all about my day on set with Chan.
Thanks so much to Bernice for showing CTU some love and for sharing her experience with Channing’s fans around the world. As always, stay tuned to Channing Tatum Unwrapped for the latest news on Chan’s film ‘Fighting‘ (and almost everything else Channing Tatum for that matter)!
On June 10th the M&M Cru is Ending This Battle…
May 23, 2008
In true dance battle style, Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux of the M&M Cru have posted a teaser video letting everyone know they will release their round two reply to ACDC’s last online dance battle challenge on June 10, 2008 at 7PM Pacific Time.
Parts of the video below were made at the Wango Tango music festival I mentioned recently, and they also show footage from the video shoot where I posted behind the scenes photos on Monday. The girls have taken it up a notch, because they are saying that this next video is going to be the one that will bring an end to the ENTIRE battle. I’m sure ACDC might have a little to say about that, but in the mean time, you can check out M&M’s teaser below…
I’m hoping that the video I posted with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan donning their M&M Cru caps and dancing with fans on the streets of Prague makes it into the next installment, but I guess we’ll all have to tune in on June 10th to see for ourselves.
Haven’t seen all of the videos in the BIGGEST ONLINE DANCE BATTLE EVER? You can CLICK HERE to check them all out in a playlist I created on YouTube.
Thanks to Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Naz for letting me know about this new video!!!
