NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s ‘Fighting’ and Other Films Take Over New York According to WNBC.com
September 30, 2007
It seems that films like Channing Tatum’s ‘Fighting’, Sara Jessica Parker’s ‘Sex in the City’ and many other productions have taken over the streets of New York City.
In a recent New York news report from channel 4 NBC, we get to see Channing in between takes on the set of his movie ‘Fighting’ for a few seconds. In the report we learn that the 17 movies, 23 TV shows, and 40 late night and/or cable shows that call New York home for their productions generate over $5 Billion dollars in revenue and create 1000’s of jobs in the city each year.
Although people may complain about the filming slowing them down a bit while they are trying to navigate through town, many understand the positive impact that the productions make on the city and don’t mind being able to see a star walking the streets every now and then, especially when its Channing Tatum.
You can click here to view the video or click on the image above. Channing is on for a few seconds with around 1 minute and 14 seconds left in the video. Enjoy!
I would like to thank Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Paul for letting me know about this video.

NEWS FLASH: New Channing Tatum Video and Pictures on the Set of ‘Fighting’ from TMZ.com and Just Jared
September 27, 2007

There have been lots of reports of paparazzi hanging around Channing Tatum’s ‘Fighting’ set, but until now, we had not seen any pictures released through the various media outlets and all we had were the exclusive pictures I posted on the blog yesterday showing Chan on the set of ‘Fighting’ filming (thanks again Max!).
Well, what a difference a day makes, because now we have high quality pictures AND video of Channing on the set courtesy of celebrity gossip sites Just Jared and TMZ.com.
Here are the great Just Jared pictures of Channing in the same white t-shirt we saw him in on our photos yesterday and he is flanked by some pretty big guys from the personal training facility that is helping Chan get in shape for the film. Channing is currently training with a New York-based company called Billion Dollar Bodies, Inc. which is run by celebrity personal trainer William J. Harris.
You can click here to view the article and video on TMZ.com or click here to just view the video that shows Channing walking away from the ‘Fighting’ set with the Billion Dollar Bodies, Inc. trainers who look like they may be doing double duty as body guards. Chan shows up in the video at 1:03 and is on for about 10 seconds. He is friendly as usual with the paparazzi as they ask him how filming is going.
NEWS FLASH: New ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ Production Video and Movie Stills
September 27, 2007
The production of ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ completed filming last Sunday (September 21, 2007) in Baltimore, Maryland and is supposed to have their wrap party this coming Sunday.
The production team also just posted an answer to a second fan question on their official site.
Amanda from San Francisco, CA wanted to know…
“What does it feel like to be cast as the leading role in the sequel to an awesome movie?”
‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ lead actor Robert Hoffman answers that question in the following video. You can click here to check it out or you can play the video below:
I also found the following behind-the-scenes production photos online from ‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ showing characters like Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman in a dance scene and the director Jon Chu with other actors from the film:
‘Step Up 2: The Streets’ will be released February 14, 2008 with Robert Hoffman and Briana Evigan playing the lead roles. Channing Tatum has a really great cameo in the film and as far as I can confim from sources close to the production, Jenna Dewan is not currently in the sequel (even though the production has implied that she could be).
Guess we’ll all have to go out and watch the movie when it hits the US and Netherlands theaters next Valentines Day and Slovakian theaters on March 18, 2008 to know for sure. I know I’ll be there with bells on (as the saying goes).
NEWS FLASH: First Ever Pictures of Channing Tatum on the Set of New Film ‘Fighting’
September 26, 2007
Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan and CTU Reader, Max, just happened to be near Radio City Music Hall yesterday, saw Channing Tatum filming his movie ‘Fighting’, and was kind enough to take pictures and send them to me.
So thanks to Max, we now have the first pictures of Channing Tatum filming his new movie Fighting’. You can see Channing in the pics with a white t-shirt and/or a blue jean jacket on talking to people in the production. In the picture of Channing with the blue jean jacket on, you can also see the director Dito Montiel right behind him with a white t-shirt on.

In addition to that, I just received another filming update from our “on site field reporter”, CTU Reader, and Fabulous Channing Tatum fan Lisa who also sent in an awesome report yesterday.
Here is what Lisa saw today on the set of Channing’s movie ‘Fighting’:
Hi Quishe,
Channing is at the same location right now (10:50am Eastern).
He just filmed a sequence where he was scalping tickets. A guy approaches him and they start to fight, Channing throws him into a table of pamphlets, Channing gets thrown into a fruit stand and then runs away! Right after the take he was goofing off with some of the extras and Dito! He really just seems so laidback and fun! You can tell the closeness btwn him and Dito as well!
There’s the quick update!

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum Sighting Today on the Set of ‘Fighting’
September 26, 2007

Here’s a picture someone took recently of the filming of Channing Tatum’s movie ‘Fighting’ at Ramon Aponte Park on 47th street in the Hell’s Kitchen section of New York City. Sadly Chan’s not in the picture (other than the pic I added to it), but you can see the director Dito Montiel in the middle of the photo wearing the blue shirt and red shorts.
We may not have a picture of Channing on set (yet), but Fabulous Channing Tatum Fan Lisa from New York was kind enough to email me about her encounter with the film production today.
Here is what Lisa saw today watching Channing film his movie ‘Fighting’:
Hi there,
I have been reading your Channing blog pretty much since its creation and I thought I would finally contribute some GREAT news! (By the way….I’ve read many fansites over the years and yours defintely ranks at the top! Thanks for keeping us in the know!)
Anyways….I was able to watch Channing film some of his new movie, Fighting, today! I also spotted the amazingly talented Dito Montiel directing him!!! They were filming at the fountain across from Radio City Music Hall and 30 Rockefeller Plaza, right near where I work. I spotted Channing from a window (in a sweatshirt and jean jacket for the people who are interested) and ran downstairs to see the man in action. For the 15 minutes or so I was downstairs they probably only filmed a total of 2 minutes but I was able to see the interaction between Dito and Channing (which seemed full of energy and humor…both had huge smiles on their faces and were laughing quite a bit). Channing seemed extremely affable and was keeping loose by jumping up and down and talking with his co-stars and members of the crew!
I have been a fan of Channings since he was the ‘Mountain Dew guy’ and to finally have been 25 feet away from him was pretty awesome (and Im not one to get starstruck!) He is beautiful in person and it was very cool to be able to watch him perform (even for such a little amount of time)….just wanted to pass on the news!
Thanks,
Lisa, NYC

CHANTASTIC WORD OF THE DAY: Chanamania
September 23, 2007

You can find many of those words in the Chantastic Words thread in the forum and I am going to start showcasing the words on the blog too. Today’s chantastic word of the day is…
Chan-a-ma-ni-a* (noun): Usually used to describe the sudden outbursts, giddiness, laughter, fainting, drooling or uncontrollable urges of a Chan-aholic or a group of Chan-aholics.
“When Channing Tatum Unwrapped posted this new promotional still of Channing Tatum in his upcoming movie ‘Stop Loss’, it caused widespread chanamania throughout the Channing Tatum fan community.”

New Personal Pictures of Channing Tatum, Girlfriend Jenna Dewan, and Sister Paige Hanging Out with Family and Friends
September 21, 2007
If you have been reading this blog for a while, you already know how close Channing Tatum is with his family. Well Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s good friend Josh (the same Josh who just recently sent us some really awesome new baby pictures of Chan and his sister Paige) just sent me more personal pictures of the couple.
Today’s pictures show Channing Tatum, his girlfriend Jenna Dewan and his sister Paige hanging out in a restaurant and at the extremely popular Hollywood hangout Les Deux with friends from Channing’s native state of Alabama when they came to visit Chenna and Paige in California. When it comes to young Hollywood, Les Deux is where it’s at. LC and Audrina from MTV’s “The Hills” come to this Italian-inspired club all the time and CTU readers get a rare look inside with these great pics.
The last two pictures show Channing and Jenna taking pictures with family and friends when they went back to Alabama to attend a wedding of one of Channing’s family members. Enjoy!!!

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s ‘Fighting’ Starts Filming Today in New York
September 20, 2007
In an article posted on IGN.com yesterday we learn a little more about Channing’s new movie ‘Fighting’ which starts filming today in New York City.
Here is what IGN.com has to say about the film and the new roles that have been cast:
Fighting is a rough-hewn heroic tale about realizing dreams of glory, putting audiences ringside at high-stakes underground street fights. Tatum stars as Sean Arthur, a young man who scrapes up a living hustling counterfeit merchandise in NYC. With family tragedy in his past and his father keeping him at a distance, this outsider has little to motivate him. A chance encounter with veteran street-fighting coach Harvey Boarden (Howard) leads to a whole new career for Sean. The ensuing bouts get tough, especially with the criminal element horning in, so Sean gets tougher. He will fight to win, not only the prize money, but also the unexpected new relationships that are strengthening him. Also newly cast are Zulay Henao (currently on-screen in Illegal Tender) as single mother Zulay Velez, whom Sean tries to integrate into his new life; Luis Guzman as Martinez, a fight promoter; and world-renowned professional fighter Cung Le as Sean’s fearsome Korean foe in the ring. Montiel’s crew on Fighting includes cinematographer Stefan Czapsky (Blades of Glory), production designer Therese DePrez (The Return), and the costume design team of Kurt and Bart (Shortbus).
Montiel has written the latest draft of the screenplay. Lisa Bruce is co-producer on Fighting. Senior vice president of production Adrienne Biddle is overseeing the picture for Rogue, which holds worldwide rights to the film.
Most importantly, a poster on IMDB says they saw signs related to the filming of ‘Fighting’ today (September 20, 2007) in New York City’s Times Square at 40th between 8th and Broadway. So if you happen to be hanging around Times Square today, you may just be able to catch a glimpse of Mr. Tatum himself (and you better darn well take pictures and beeline them to me at sightings@channingtatumunwrapped.com).

NEWS FLASH: New Channing Tatum Photoshoot for ‘Stop Loss’ in ‘The 2007 Esquire 100′
September 18, 2007

Channing Tatum and ‘Stop Loss’ castmates Ryan Phillippe, Abbie Cornish, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mamie Gunner, and Victor Rasuk are showcased in Esquire’s second annual register of emerging ideas, trends, discoveries, products, people, and obscene gestures you should know about before everyone else does. Obviously they don’t read the blog, because CTU has been all over ‘Stop Loss’ for ages now, but I am glad the film is starting to get coverage.
Inside Esquire’s online directory, you will find stories about the one hundred remarkable people, things, ideas, and places that they feel will be making an impact on our culture, large or small, in the months ahead. They consider the list to be a roll call of what in America is new, surprising, inspiring, sad, and wonderful right now.
Here is the Esquire.com article in its entirety with some great pictures of Chan and his ‘Stop Loss’ castmates:
The 2007 Esquire 100
Nos. 22 through 24: Stop-Loss Fashion
Director Kimberly Peirce reflects on her war movie Stop-Loss and its lead actors, who happen to look quite nice in fall’s most versatile color, gray.

Two years ago, director Kimberly Peirce cowrote a script called Stop-Loss, about a soldier’s journey to Iraq and back. She cast some of today’s brightest young actors, and with the war raging at home and abroad, she made her movie. Peirce recently rejoined her cast, all of them dressed in this season’s most versatile color, gray, on the outskirts of Los Angeles, with photographer Matt Jones in tow. The following pictures are his, and the handwritten words scattered throughout are hers. The rest of the story belongs to all of us.

“On our first day of shooting our movie’s war scene, Ryan had to lead his men — Channing, Victor, and Joe — through a devastating fire fight with humvees and taxis on fire. It so affected the guys that when it came time to do this shoot, we all agreed we had to restage that element of the experience.”

“I was downtown when N.Y. was hit on 9/11. My little brother did two tours of duty in Iraq. We IM’ed most nghts. On his first trip home, he brought back soldier-made videos — combat footage of the guys set to rock music. After hearing his and other soldiers’ stories I knew I had to make a movie about this war from the soldiers’ point of view.”

“Right after Abbie arrived from Australia, we took a crash course in Texas girls. I took her to the busiest dance hall in Austin to meet some local Texans married to or dating soldiers. Before long, I saw her across the room in a crowd of cowboy boots, short skirts, and makeup, two-stepping in a line dance. She had a cowboy hat on, too.”
“Most common thing I heard from soldiers — scary is when you hear an explosion and you don’t know what it is.”
“You can’t see them, but Mamie’s got the best legs.”
“Ryan had to not only depict a real-life soldier; he had to earn his stripes as the leader of the cast — I was happy to hear that after boot camp let out and the guys descended into mad partying, Ryan carried one drunk actor (who’ll go unnamed) to his hotel and made sure the rest of his men made it home safe.”

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum Scheduled to Attend Premiere of the ‘The Game Plan’ This Weekend
September 18, 2007
Channing is listed as a special guest for the world premiere of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new movie ‘The Game Plan’. The premiere is this Sunday, September 23rd at the El Capitan Theatre located at 6838 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, CA.
I just learned that although Chan has been invited as a special guest to this event, he is supposed to start filming his new movie ‘Fighting’ this Thursday (September 20th) in New York. Chan says he really did want to attend the premiere because Andy Fickman, the director, is a great friend of his. Sadly, he will not be able to attend the premiere, because they have filming scheduled for Saturday night for ‘Fighting’.
In addition to Channing, special guests also include Kevin Bacon, Amanda Bynes, Ali Larter, David Duchovny, Christine Lakin, Kristen Bell, Regina King, Rick Fox, Kellie Martin, Corri English, Jo DeLaRosa and more!
Celebrities are scheduled to arrive at 1pm and the screening will start at 2pm.
‘The Game Plan’ tells the story of rugged superstar quarterback Joe Kingman (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), whose Boston-based team is chasing a championship. A ‘serial bachelor’, Kingman is living the ultimate fantasy: he’s rich, famous and the life of the party. But this dream is suddenly sacked for a loss when he discovers the 8-year-old daughter (newcomer Madison Pettis) he never knew he had – the product of a last fling before parting years ago with his young wife.
Now, during the most important time in his career, he must figure out how to juggle his parties, practices and dates with the newfound ballet classes, bedtime stories and dolls that come with his daughter. Equally perplexed is his hard-edged mega-agent, Stella (Kyra Sedgwick), herself without a parental bone in her body. Despite the often hilarious misadventures that come with being a new father, Joe discovers that there’s more to life than money, endorsements and thousands of adoring fans: the love and care of one very special small fan is the only thing that matters.
Walt Disney Pictures’ ‘The Game Plan’ is rated PG and opens Friday, September 28, 2007
