In a previous blog entry, I let you know that Channing Tatum was declared as one of Entertainment Weekly’s Brightest’s New Stars of 2006. Also, in my pursuit of a photo for Channing’s birthday gift, I wrote about my accidental interview with Randall Slavin, the photographer that worked with Channing on the photoshoot and told me, among other things, how much Channing loved his girlfriend (aka Jenna Dewan).

CTU NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Siting at Santa Maria, California Olive Garden (With Pictures!!!)

Have I told you lately how much I love the internet? I just got some awesome news online! I am kind of flipping out as I write this post and I am not even the person who met Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan a few short hours ago.

It seems that 5 hours ago a lucky girl in California saw Channing Tatum and his girlfriend Jewan Dewan at a local Santa Maria Olive Garden, of all places.

Here is her description of the lucky encounter with the cute couple that she posted in a Zac Efron fan message board:

From STEP UP!

I was at work in San Luis, my sister calls me 15 minutes from the time I get off work. She is at the Olive Garden in Santa Maria, a good 40-45 minute drive San Luis. She says “I JUST SAW CHANNIGN TATUM”

So Channing and Jenna were at the Olive Garden, in my town, WHAT THE HECK?! How random is that.

So I leave work early and get to Olive Garden. My sis was there in the banquet room with her swim team. Channing and Jenna came back to the room to meet everyone on the team and I WAS THERE! I got a pic and autograph, holy man I am still spazzing cuz this was like 20 minutes ago.

OK…How cool is that, how cute are they, and how jealous am I right now?!?!?! Just when I thought I couldn’t love our favorite couple Chenna any more.

So, let me recap…Channing and Jenna TOGETHER…At Olive Garden…Taking pictures with fans. Can you get any more down-to-earth than that? They’re relationship seems to be in tact and they are taking the time to give back to their fans. All is right with the world.

UPDATE: I contacted Marisa over at ZEfron.com and asked her if she had any more details about her fan encounter that she would like to share. I added another one of her pictures above and here is what she added:

All I have to add is that he was incredibly nice. He and Jenna took time out of their vacation time (they were heading to Pismo Beach to hang out) to sign and take pics with my sisters high school swim team. They both were just so amazing. Before they left, they made sure to wish the swim team good luck in their next meet. SOOOOOOO nice. I am heading to check out ur blog right now.

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s Movie Step Up (Camino A La Fama) - DVD Release for Argentina

Here is the famous Step Up poster of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Argentinian style.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s dance movie Step Up will release on DVD in Argentina where it is known as Camino a la Fama on May 3, 2007.

The DVD can currently be pre-ordered at the popular Argentinian DVD site DVD Museum.

Dear Channing,

Happy 27th birthday from ChanningTatumUnwrapped.com and all of my readers!!!! We have all been working for months on this unique birthday gift for you and we truly hope that you like it.

If you look from afar (step back about 10 feet), this picture mosaic is an unreleased photo of you suiting up in your riot gear on the set of Battle in Seattle. If you look at the picture up close, you will see that it is actually made of tons of photos of your faithful fans, of graphics they created from your photos, and in one case, of a painting a fan created of your Step Up poster with Jenna.

Below you will see the mosaic and the original photo that the mosaic was created from. If you click on the mosaic, you will be able to see in detail all of the fan photos that helped to create the picture.

After writing over 250 articles on my blog about you, you would think it would be really easy to write this letter. Since I have never written to you directly, I find myself at a rare loss for words, so I am just going to tell you a little bit about your amazing fans.

There are too many to list in this one letter, but through my blog I have been extremely lucky to meet many incredible people literally from all around the world who truly appreciate you as a person and as an actor. I affectionately call all of us Fabulous Channing Tatum Fans and we are all certified Channaholics.

First of all, there’s Miguel who you inspired to lose over 90 lbs. and who has created ton’s of fan graphics and videos for the fan community, in addition to having a great MySpace fan profile for you. You can learn more about him in our Fab Fan Spotlight on this blog.

Then there’s Brandi who has one of the best MySpace fan profiles that she religiously changes daily and constantly tries to keep the fans updated on news about you.

There are fans like Natalie from Russia, Christopher from Canada, Pasi from Finland, Kym from Australia, Fern from Thailand, Amy from Massachusetts (who has been known to check the blog like every 15 minutes just in case I make an update), Rachael from Indiana, Petra from Massachusetts, Tierra and her adorable little sister Tamirra (who are way too young to know what a sexy beast is, but that is what they think you are), and the countless other fans that read Channing Tatum Unwrapped every day hungry to get any new information, photos, or videos about you.

Then there is me…LaQuishe (aka Channing Tatum Unwrapped), a dedicated mom and wife who started my blog as a hobby, because I am a huge fan. I never realized the friendships that I would make with my readers, and I can personally tell you that you have an amazing and completely supportive fan base that would like to thank you for everything that you have given to us.

REMINDER: Channing Tatum’s Birthday is Tomorrow!!!!

I have not been this excited about anything in a long time, but I have to say that I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve (before I found out the truth about Santa Claus).

Although I received the digital proof for Channing’s birthday gift a few days ago, I spent most of the day today waiting for Channing’s actual picture to arrive from the mosaic company via FedEx so I could frame it and ship it to Channing. I knew that the proof looked really great, but nothing prepared me for how awesome it would be to see the real thing.

After working on this project for over 3 months, I have to say that it was a very proud moment when I finally saw the poster in its full glory. It was even bigger than I imaged, standing a full 3 feet tall and two feet wide. I watched the UPS Store guy carefully wrap the framed picture and hand it over to the delivery guy like I was watching my child go off to college or something. I even found myself telling the delivery guy to take good care of it. Funny how you can care so much about an inanimate object, but this gift is just as important to me as it is to all of you.

Here’s what’s funny…I think I took more pictures of the gift before I shipped it than I have taken of my two year old in the past year. I see him EVERYDAY, but I only got to see the gift for like THREE HOURS. I’d say 20 or so photos makes all of the sense in the world. I will post those on the blog once I get them developed so you can see the picture in the frame.

I just want to thank everyone who submitted photos and graphics and I think that you will be very proud of what you have helped create when you get to take a look at it on the blog tomorrow in addition to the letter I sent with the mosiac.

AS SEEN ON TV…Here is a high quality promotional photo of Channing Tatum for his movie Step Up.

What could be better than a high quality photo of Channing Tatum?…How about the fact that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s popular dance movie Step Up is now going to be showing on high definition and regular cable television in the UK starting the day after Channing’s birthday, on Friday April 27, 2007.

What’s even better than that?…It seems that the movie is quite popular in the UK (where it has grossed over $5 million in theatre and DVD sales), because it will be playing pretty much every half an hour for the unforseeable future.

NEWS FLASH: UK and Greece DVD Release for Channing Tatum’s Movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints

Here is the Greek DVD cover for Channing Tatum’s (Τζένιφερ Γκίμπγκοτ) movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (Εγχειρίδιο Αναγνώρισης Αγίων). The DVD released in Greece back on March 7, 2007.

Channing’s performance in this movie is really amazing and allowed him to show his true acting chops. This film is also one of the big reasons why Channing is slated to star in the action film Parkour and in the romantic drama Dear John.

The gritty and extremely well-received movie with Channing in his breakthrough role as the dysfunctional and brutal Antonio is being released on DVD in the UK on July 2, 2007.

In case you missed it, this film is already available in the US, because it was released on DVD on February 20, 2007.

NEWS FLASH: Channing Tatum’s Movie Memorias de Queens (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints) Release Dates Change in Spain

Channing Tatum’s critically-acclaimed movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, which is called Memorias de Queens in Spain, seems to have multiple theatrical release dates at this point.

IMBD says May 11, 2007, the company that distributes the movie in Spain (Alta Films) says May 18, 2007, and multiple film sites in Spain say June 8, 2007.

So if you are in Spain and want to see Channing’s movie Memorias de Queens, be on the lookout in May and June just to be safe.

Channing Tatum Voted Best Prom Date

Here is a picture of Channing Tatum looking kind of prom date-ish at the 16th Annual Gotham Awards presented by Independent Film Project (IFP) on November 29, 2006 in New York City where he was nominated for Breakthrough Actor for his gritty role as Antonio in the award-winning movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints.

Prom season is rapidly approaching and I am sure that some of my readers are already hunting for the perfect dress, hairstyle, and date at this point. In today’s New Jersey-based Express-Times, they posted an article about the best and worst prom dates chosen by students. I think you can guess which side of that list Channing Tatum fell on.

Best and Worst of Prom Dates

Face it: you may forget a lot about high school but you’re always going to remember your prom date.

So some staff members from Expressions — the group of high school students who publish their own section in The Express Times every other week — selected their dream prom dates and their nightmare prom dates.

“It’s what Lincoln would have watched,” says the slogan of my hero’s show and first choice prom date.

But, Lincoln’s not the only one watching.

After several firsthand girl fights and heated declarations of love later, it’s clear that Stephen Colbert of “The Colbert Report” is the perfect man. In Nov. 2006, he was even named one of the sexiest men alive by People Magazine.

Colbert is extremely funny, oddly political, always well dressed and has his own Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor: “Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream.”

But, that is not why he would be the perfect prom date — or is unquestionably the perfect man.

After making a guest appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor” in Jan. 2007, Colbert stole a microwave from the Fox News studio and later taunted O’Reilly with it on “The Colbert Report.” Anyone who steals microwaves from Fox News for entertainment value must be the perfect prom date.

And the worst?

Bill O’Reilly does seem a likely candidate. But, teen pop culture was able to supply an even better one.

Fall Out Boy, — any member of the band — would be the worst prom date ever.

To start with, they have that attempted debonair name: Fall Out Boy.

Which means a boy who falls out? Out of what? Talent? But, you see there is a method to their disgruntled noises.

First, they order a large amount of balloons, a lot of balloons, the finest balloons. The balloons are of course filled with helium which they swallow to ruin any natural singing ability they might actually have. Then they get a bit drunk. OK, a lot drunk, and complain about their non-existent love lives.

This is then tape recorded. Later on the tape is adapted with even more high pitched vocals of none other than umpa loompas. Music is then randomly added into the background by a half-broken Windows 95 computer.

And there you have it: a single Fall Out Boy song. So, because no one should support helium overdose, or umpa loompa exploitation,

Fall Out Boy should be ranked on everyone’s list as the worst prom date ever.

Channing Tatum, who plays Tyler Gage in the movie “Step Up” is the ideal prom date.

Not only is he popular and outgoing, but he is an amazing dancer. I would never pass up the chance to go to prom and show him off to the crowd.

Besides serving as my arm candy, he would also be perfect eye candy! An Abercrombie & Fitch model, Tatum’s hot body and smile would make all my prom pictures worth a million.

The most embarrassing prom date would be Steve Urkel, played by Jaleel White, from “Family Matters.”

The classic example of a nerd, Steve Urkel routinely dresses in hiked up pants and suspenders. In a prom setting, his geeky fashion would be quite a contrast to the stylish tuxes.

I can just picture Urkel greeting my friends with a freaky smile and high-pitched voice. He’d flap his arms to the music, unknowingly whacking everyone in the head. Not exactly someone I want to be responsible for!

Allison Koch

My dream prom date would definitely have to be Emile Hirsch. Ever since I saw him in the movie “Lords of Dogtown” I’ve been somewhat obsessed.

Taking him to prom would be like a Cinderella story come true. Even though he’s not that well-known, I’m sure all the girls, and maybe even some of the guys, would be jealous, since he’s so amazingly good-looking. Going to prom with Emile would definitely make my prom experience one to remember.

On the other hand, going to prom with a guy like John Mayer would be a total drag.

Not only would our height difference be totally awkward, considering he’s so gargantuanly tall, but he’s old enough to be my uncle.

Plus, risking the chance to have one of his songs, like the ever-so-cheesy “Your Body’s a Wonderland,” end up playing and having all eyes on us would be embarrassing. I would have rather taken my chances going alone.

Chad Lear

My ideal prom date would have to be one of our favorite “Friends,” Jennifer Aniston.

She has all of the standards that qualify her to accompany me to my high school prom. Her body is slender and fit, but her wallet is fat. Her beauty is timeless, but her style is contemporary.

My absolute worst prom date would have to be Nancy Pelosi.

She is aging, stern, and did I say aging?

And how would I explain to my friends why my date is wearing a nicer suit to prom than I am?

I want to go with a hot celebrity, not a CNN regular!

I think that the best celebrity prom date should be smart and pretty. I decided to pick Jessica Biel because she is both of these things.

She has created an organization that helps people that need rehab at home. She also attended college and acting school. Biel was also voted one of the prettiest women in the world by several magazines. By taking Biel to the prom all of my friends would be jealous.

On the other hand I think the worst prom date would be Condoleezza Rice.

She is very smart but it seems if you would say anything that was not right she would correct you and do it in a mean way. She is the Secretary of State so if I would take her to the prom her mind would be on other things like the war in Iraq. She is a nice person but would be a horrible prom date.

Channing Tatum’s movie Step Up just came out on DVD in Sweden on April 18, 2007 and now his critically-acclaimed movie A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints is having its theatrical release today in Sweden. You can click here or on the image above to view the trailer.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s Movie Step Up in Germany

DID YOU KNOW?…Not that you care, but my husband just happens to be 50% German and his mother, who is 100% German, is visiting today from out of town. So I actually found it kind of ironic that I would happen upon the German Step Up website today and learn that the German version of Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan’s popular dance movie was released on DVD on February 8, 2007 in Germany.

To date, Step Up has been released in over 30 countries and has grossed over $100 million worldwide (pretty darn good for a little dance movie).

The German Step Up website includes the back story for the movie, a trailer (in German ofcourse), a photo gallery, wallpaper downloads, cast & crew profiles, and videos of the German dance contest winners (like the contest on MySpace in the US and on the Step Up website for Japan).
